Did people really think AP was a NASCAR/Earnhardt fan? It’s more of a pop culture shtick than anything. I don’t think AP going on Jr’s show would do much good for us given that AP probably has little to no knowledge about anything car racing. RC’s appearance on Dale’s show was great because RC actually went and did that kind of stuff for a few years, albeit not great.

And how old are you? Did you watch Dale's crash live on tv when it happened? Because by your insinuating logic, you shouldn't have an opinion on Dale Earnhardt if you didn't watch it as it happened.

AP act is getting tired. He’s in danger of entering Ronnie Mac territory.

The cheers of the crowd for him and the lines of fans will disagree with you.

Never once did I say you can’t be a fan unless you watched him pass away on TV live or even insulate anything close to that. Do you think AP was watching live when Dale died?

Seems like his shtick has made him quite popular vs his actual results. I'd say he knows what he's doing, whether he's a phoney or not

It certainly works, especially towards the younger fan base. The kids go crazy for him in the pits. It’s not for everyone, but people can’t say it’s not working.

I was, and I don't like guys going around saying do it for Dale unless you know how much of a badass he was. He was a hero for the working man and never forgot where he came from.

Well you're saying if he's not a real fan of Nascar he can't say anything about it...

I got thrown out of a Christmas party one time over Dale Earnhardt. It’s kind of a fucked up story actually, even though we thought it was kind of funny at the time but it is fucked up. I probably shouldn’t even say anything but fuck it here goes. It was my wife’s sister‘s house, and there were a bunch of people from back east that we didn’t know. Not that it’s an excuse but I didn’t drive there and we had been drinking most of the day. One of the kids got a Dale Earnhardt car, a little one like hot wheels size.  He had taken the thing out of the package and was playing around with it on the hardwood floor with a couple other kids, me and my wife’s brother and a couple other numbskulls were hanging out watching the kids play. At one point, the car rolled over by us and bumped into my shoes, so me being the sick bastard, I am I reached down to roll it back to the kids and slid it sideways into the wall saying “Turn lay-eft Dale turn lay-eft” in my best redneck accent and we all laughed. But unfortunately, right at that time the kids father came in and saw the whole thing., he lost his shit and started screaming. “That’s a collector's item !! It wasn’t supposed to come out of the package !!” and didn’t find my redneck accent and joking about hitting the wall funny at all. He looked at me and his face was turning red, there were veins popping out of his forehead and neck. He was starting to hyperventilate. The dude was ready to kill me. Then the guy started yelling at the kid some more, someone else said it’s just a toy guy relax, which pissed him off even more, I saw my exit, went and asked my wife if she was ready to go, she said yeah and we vanished. We were never asked to Christmas again. 😂

The best part of that story is the irony that the Diecast and NASCAR collectibles industry overproduced Dale Sr. stuff by a country mile after his death trying to cash in on it, basically devaluing the whole collectors market to basically nothing. Its dead compared to what it was 20 years ago, you have to practically giveaway 90% of that stuff nowadays.

Your sense of humor is right up my alley. Also buy your kid two of them if one isn't supposed to come out of the package. It's a toy, the kid doesn't want to look at his collector's item in the package

Funny is funny, I'll give you a pass.

My Dad has all the Die cast #3 cars, and he even looks like Dale.

I watched APs post race response about Dale again....that was full cringe phoney.      ...and again, I'm a fan of AP.

I was just going off his Facebook.

He puts alot of his life out there, if he's wanting to hide something he's doing a terrible job at it.

Ronnie Mac is popular too.  You can be phoney and popular.  You can be annoying and popular. Might be some peoples cup of tea.  Playing a character is lame IMO and that's what it seems like has happened with AP.  He wore a cowboy hat once and some publicist at NBC or Feld told him to lean into it.

I met Dale when I was 10yrs old, my step dad was a big Earnhardt fan. We drove over to RCR for an open house type thing, Dale and Richard were outside under an ez up that was beside a camper best I remember taking pics and signing things. They stopped the line right as we got under the ez up so Dale and Richard could run in the camper and eat lunch quickly. Dale wasn't a big man but to me that day he was like 6'4'' 😄. He signed a #3 hat for me then put his arm on my shoulder and said something along the lines of "Thanks for coming son, have a nice day''. I don't think I let my mom wash that shirt for a week bc Dale Earnhardt touched it 😄

I was at the race. We spent all week there in Daytona. Saw the accident live and in person. It really did not look that bad. I’d seen drivers walk away from what looked like worse wrecks. We could not believe it when we were sitting in traffic on the way out and heard he had passed. That night all of Daytona was just quiet. When we went to dinner everyone seemed to be depressed. They kept the Speedway lit up all night. You could see it from miles away.
