Sorry guys but people that, as adults, move here and then end up with a bloody stupid sounding quasi American accent - which is how Reed sounds- are doing so because they want to sound American. It takes a concious effort.
By moving and living in different parts of the USA you start picking up different dialects along the way.
Where all have they lived along the way? They have lived in Cal, Charlotte NC and Ocala FLA that I know of so that could be part of it.
I have lived in SW Michigan, Nashville, Baltimore/ Washington DC, Southern Maryland and Charlotte North Carolina and South Carolina so my dialect sound I have picked up along the way is all over the place.
He's a fake. He was putting it on 6 months after he arrived. Often, you'll notice, he forgets to put on the accent. As an Aussie, it's super obvious. I wonder if he lived in India for 6 months, he'd be putting a fake accent there?
My father has been living in Florida since 1992 and hasn't got an ounce of American accent. Words are different though like flashlight and hood etc.
