Ordinarily, yes. But in this example, sandbagging doesn't work in all cases. The major sandbaggers of the class - Hampshire, Smith, Anstie - can beat most of the youngsters but not all. They do know, however, they'd get smoked in the 450 class while also getting half the money, TV time, groupies and so on.
You ride where you’re contracted to ride. RJ will be on a 450 outdoors this year. His previous fill in 450 SX ride? Produced a heat race win. Will he run up front? No, but he’s not going to be a pushover…. These guys are doing what they love, have a high paying contract to do it and Vitards can only whine about it…

This. Deegan's season can still be one of dominance if he starts winning everything. However, if he finishes off the podium again, even just one more time, it's starting to look pretty underwhelming.
Might be a little recency bias, but I’d say no. He smoked everyone tonight.
Reality just won't be denied.
Pretty much what I expected. A dominant ride. Red plate too heavy for Ju Ju… Smith is fast but goes down hard. Davies is fast but a rookie. Deegan was all business and clearly the fastest of everyone. I am looking forward to East West and Yamaha owning the podium.

That was dominant. Interested for the east/west shootouts, he’s more comfortable on those tracks but his starts are still somewhat of a problem, so I wonder if he’ll be able to tear through the pack somewhat similar to the way he did tonight. It seems like him, Davies, and possibly Shimoda are the only guys who could run with the top 5 in the east. I’m not entirely out on Juju, but he’s unsure on these more east coast tracks. He has the talent to surprise though
Nah, he chose not to pull a Sexton there. He would have easily passed Cole if he needed to. But he had an 8 position lead on the overall.
Just in case you hadn’t noticed, Deegan fans tend to be a little bit sensitive.
Like me, this is definitely not his first vital account (thanks Gibby). He could very well have been here since the motodrive days…. We could have begged Steve to ‘forgive’ and keep usernames and post history, but in the 2020-2022 timeframe, losing usernames (etc). made a lot more sense than the alternative. (that’s all I have to say about that.)
I’m very underwhelmed by 38 this year, I mean with how good Davies is riding, it’s gonna be hard to win the title before SLC. was really hoping to see him on a 450 there
That was an absolutely dominant ride last night and what i was expecting at the beginning of the season. I expect we will see more of that for the rest of the SX season.
