There has been discussion in this area of a 125 vet class at the vet race at Aztalan this September. It would be a 1 moto deal to test out participation and if it works out it could become a regular class . The tentative rules as of now are any year 125 and 35 or older. Anyone have a 125 vet class in their district ? Sounds like a fun idea. And its not my intention to start a 2t vs 4t pissing match here.

it with a 2 stroke class 125cc -open. It's been a very popular class. I'm a 41 year old vet
rider and I race my 125 in it from time to time.
Great idea any rider over 40 must compete on a 125 . I was searching for 125 c class at LL & this popped up. In 11 maybe the next yr with maybe a 2 week notice they had 35 or 38 riders in 125 35+ . Aztalan gets a big vet turn out for the big Racer X vet race.
I would love to do something like that around here. I mostly just use my 125 to practice on and have fun. If I do race, it's usually on my 250F. But I would totally do a vet 125 class like that, if that were a thing.
Oklahoma had both a +30 and +40 150 class this last summer. Not a crazy big class but it was fun. I do think they should just make it 1 big vet 150 class.
We have a hare scramble series that started a 40+ 150 class that’s been very popular.

I used to be very fast on a 125... now I'm not so sure. I'm too old and lazy! I'd still like to race one, though - even if I got dead last!
Denmark Mx was a AMA since 1969. It’s a non ama track now just outside Green Bay. No triples etc now more of a Italian layout table tops , all the hills step ip floaters, hard pack mostly with clay powder on top. If it’s worked with wood chips worked in its Midwest loam. In 25 every 2nd weekend there having a race 150 a,b , 150 b,c or 150c . They get 30-38 on the gate at some in 150c. Age classes too. I hear riders say it’s a great 125 track for flow . I never thought about it I just ride it. Italians would love this track in & out of valleys to floater jumps. Start is on a up hill with a gate . The most unique start in the world. 200 bucks for unlimited riding closed mondays only.
I hop on one occasionally. It feels so light, so easy to move around. But there’s so much shifting and no engine braking. You wouldn’t think you would blow up corners on a 125 but it happens for me because I’m slow on the brakes and completely miss the entrance. I think if I rode one more than just occasionally it would really help my riding. I’ve gotten lazy as well.
I think this is when I picked up a 94 kx 125 to race after not riding for awhile and when I finally made it out to practice realized I was done riding on mx tracks .... and 125s lol . Sold the bike soon after. They still have this class at the racerx vet race every September at Aztalan.
If your area is anything like the Pacific northwest, there are plenty of 30+ and 40+ racers with access to a 125cc or 150cc motocross bike.
Check out the turnout for the age 40+ and age 27+ 125cc classes for the Dream Race each summer at Washougal. For a few of the years, the 40+ class had such a big turnout that they had to run two heats and a LCQ to qualify.

D23 just updated their 125 class to let 150s race and a few vet buddies are pumped to race the kids. I have 10 times as much fun on my 150 as I do on my 350
Two stroke championship at Glen Helen allows the 150s and both the 30 plus Pasha Pro and the 125 Pasha Pro. I wish Swap Moto would allow the 150s to race in the 125 classes!
Whenever I”m feeling burned out or stuck in rut with riding….I just load up the old 93 CR125 and the fun comes right back….takes a few motos to get the timing down but this is how
riding was meant to feel….sensory overload!
I did the whole 125 thing about 6-7 years ago. The bike was fun at the winter indoor tracks. When i got outside....i felt like i was killing the bike by having to scream it everywhere to stay in the meat of the powerband. It was fun for a couple of years as an alternate bike. The 125 vet scene didn't really take off in Illinois so...i sold the bike. I miss the hell out of that thing.
I only take my 125 to certain tracks, if its ripped super deep and flooded with water, like most tracks nowadays to emulate the MXsports model, I will leave it home…. My 195lbs of mediocrity definitely puts a hurting on my 93, but she takes a lickin & keeps on tickin….
I would absolutely LOVE to have a 125!
