Is it though? Is that what people got from his ride last weekend? If anything Id say webb is the favorite at the moment. Chase seems to kind of be all over the place where hell win one then get a mid pack start next week and finish half way through the top 10. Webb started out “slow” even though his points standings were even better than they were in the past when he won, but hes been building and getting better every week. Each week it feels like is better than the last and hes staying consistent.

Webb finished 2nd in the championship last year to jett. The year before he was 2nd behind eli when he got hurt, then eli got hurt, and chase was the last man standing at the end. This isnt taking anything away from chase, its just acknowledging that webb has been the 2nd best guy behind jett for the last 2 years and is looking great again this year. Also I dont know what it is but when people get hurt and webb smells blood in the water he attacks and it changes him mentally. He feeds off of being counted out and off of any small opportunity that opens up that he can exploit. This is not a given for chase at all, he can def win but hes gonna need to start being more consistent. Chase is also known to get flustered mentally and webb is known for being solid as a rock, its going to be interesting.

We can work with speed. The favorite is usually going to be the fastest guy unless they throw it away (really throw it away, Chase is still in the lead).

Webb, Cooper, Roczen. We are barely into the season. Lots can change

It's a toss up really. I think Chase's outright speed is a huge advantage though. His starts are also on point.

We've been watching these guys for a while.  Chase, Webb, Kenny, Ando are all capable of winning if their head is in the right place and luck goes their way.  On paper, with those that are left in the fight, Chase should win this but SHOULD ain't really a thing now is it. I reckon we'll know when they add up the points.

For now I'd say this is Webb's title. Don't count out Kenny quite yet either though.

I like Chase but 12 rounds of mental warfare with Coop, that’s a big ask. He needs to unlock 2022 outdoor Chase quickly, Coop is like a boa constrictor in a championship fight

Eli and Coop are the only two to beat Jett so far when it came down to 1 on 1 right? Jett could not pass Eli in SD, and Jett could not close on cooper last weekend. Not saying chase cant (maybe he has and i dont remember), but Webb is looking strong.

Chase has the points lead and is the fastest rider left as far as potential raw speed goes. He has the most recent championships of any rider left competing.

That doesn’t mean he can’t throw it away. But he isn’t exactly the head case people think he is. He won the 23 SX and 24 MX series. Its not like he crumbles under championship pressure. Without Eli and Jett competing and pushing that speed level a bit higher, I doubt he throws away many races / washes out from riding on the edge.

I know he literally just threw a race away last week when Malcolm was catching him. But that track was brutal and unforgiving. And he didn’t tuck the front like usual.

I think with who is fit right now its Chase 50%, Webb 40%, Roczen like 9% and anyone else about a 1% chance.

Thats what I’m  saying sexton has trouble with pressure and coop is a boa constrictor. The more chase squirms the tighter hell squeeze. Its going to be a fun battle to watch!

Coops major problem is his own mind.  When he is determined,  look out.  He smells blood in the water now.

I wonder if fantasy points are given out for these threads of stupidity? But I click on every one of them. 🙃

Kenny and Coop beat Jett 1 on 1 at Glendale.

I like your analysis, that’s really well thought out but I’ve gotta disagree. Chase has crashed so many times under pressure, 24’ MX was certainly a step in the right direction as Hunter was pressuring him and he didn’t falter, but indoors we’ve seen Sexton go down SO MANY times when pressure was mounting. Usually that pressure is from Jett or Tomac so you have a good point in now that they’re gone, Chase should take the opportunity but in a battle against Cooper, Cooper Webb’s off nights are not as bad as Sextons and that’s huge in a championship

Who would you rather be right now? Sexton, with the points lead and a lot of races left, or Webb, down by only 5 points and a lot of races left?

Webb is coming and Hell is coming with him.

It's Sextons to lose...and he probably will if Webb rides like he can.

Yep. Sexton has been out front 2 times this year. The first race he gets the holeshot and is leading all alone out front the whole race. Comes through a corner with a roller and stalls the bike all by himself. Still brings home the win, but pretty big flub.

Next time is last weekend, again gets the holeshot and is in a comfortable lead for 3 quarters of the race. Starts to sense malcolm catching him in the whoops. The next few laps hes all over the place and can barely get through the whoops. Mookie finally gets right up on him and he immediately tosses it. Gets up flustered still in second and drops anchor and gets passed over and over until he finishes fifth. By the last few laps hes riding a bucking bronco on a plastic mat smothered in butter through the whoops.

I hope he buckles it down and its a dog fight between him and coop from here on out. Coop is going to be RELENTLESS.

It is Chase’s to lose. He has the points lead and Jett and Eli are out. If Chase can pull off a couple of wins in the next few, get out ahead in points like he did outdoors, he’ll be sitting good for the title.

If he panics then Webb will be all over it.

Poor Chase is a head case. He's arguably the fastest rider out there (including Jett and Eli) but he doesn't have the consistency or the mental strength to handle a tough championship. Lucky for him two tough competitors are out, but he still has Webb, Roczen, and the other guys who have all stepped up this year.

My prediction, Webb, Chase, Roczen for the championship

I remember when everyone said Eli was a head case.   I remember when everybody said Webb was a head case....

Everybody's a head case when they're not winning every week.

At the moment, it’s a Chase v Webb. Something drastic would have to occur for Kenny to get back into contention. After this weekend, I just wanna cry into a pillow after how the season started to what we have now…

One guy has two 450 championships in the last two seasons, has won two of five races, has the points lead, is generally thought to be the faster guy, qualifies better, is in better shape than anyone, had 9 podiums in his terrible no good 24 SX season.....

The other guy hasn't made it through a SX season healthy in years, through a third of the season hasn't won a race, is behind in points, shows up in shape when he chooses to, had 9 podiums in last SX season that he had 6 months to prepare for after being sent home by his former team because his mental toughness was just too much to handle.....

But hey he's edgy and glares at the camera so everything he does is just further proof of his superior mental toughness and jedi mind tricks make him the favorite.....

Either one of them could easily win it but the lens each gets viewed through around here is laughable.....

KTM probably hoping Chase doesn't win it to save that bonus money 😄

Was at round 1 of the national enduro's last weekend and the KTM group guys were back in box vans. First time in a long time I've been there and the KTM/Husky 18 wheelers weren't there. Pinching pennies..

Mookie was by far the fastest guy in Tampa. Remember he went from 9th to first. He had Chase covered. He would have beat Chase even if he hadn't crashed. All this to say if Mookie is rising there's plenty of time for him to move up in the standings. I hope he does it in Detroit. I'd love to see him in the hunt at the end.
