Seems Davies is faster than Deegan now. Not something new to this sport really is it? Next big thing starts getting beat by someone else new before he hits his stride right? Happens from time to time.

So last week when Haiden won, and the previous weeks where Haiden was faster is now striken from the record and Cole is faster based on 2 motos?

No, not at all. My point is, despite Deegan being incredible, how inevitable in this sport just at the point you get used to some new kids blazing speed, someone even newer comes along and can beat him. It's incredible. This isn't something absolute like Deegan is washed up, no, it's that Davies is capable, as well as JuJu. And that competition is good for all of these young men.

Deegan did pretty much dominate the field last year but Hymas could improve if he gets there healthy, juju should be better. I don’t see anything special with kitchen tbh. Hes good but he’s lacking race craft. Vialle should be much better after a full season here.

Or it goes the other way. Last year he wasn’t ’expected’ to win either. This year he’s expected to win both. If he doesn’t win SX his confidence could be at an all time low in his professional career. Last year after SX it would have been at an all time high.

Nobody has more pressure on them than danger Bull.  His whole life has be choreographed to a be championship racer - likely nobody has had more money poured into their amateur career.  He’ll either go on to be one of the best or crack - I don’t think there’s any in between for him.  One thing for sure he has more enemies on the gate than anyone else and that’s no going to help:

Haiden hasn’t consistently been faster than Davies all season. Talking just main events, Deegan was faster at Anaheim 1 and Anaheim 2 while Davies was faster in San Diego and Glendale. They’re about 50/50 with each other. Although they’ve both made mistakes, Deegan has made more and is in his third year while Cole is a rookie

Davies was not faster at San Diego. Haiden had a faster laptime, average time, and beat him.  Other than the triple crown (which apparently settles the debate), Haiden has been markedly faster in both qualifying and main events.

It is entertaining seeing the 🤡 🤡 chomping at the bit for anyone to beat Haiden though.

Agree to disagree. I’ll give you Deegan has been better in qualifying, but I’m talking strictly from the scope of the night show. They’ve been about even on heat races, and I do believe Davies was faster in San Diego. Even though the stats point to Deegan, Davies set a good pace until he made a mistake, got pumped up and lost positions, and then regained, made passes and almost caught Deegan, all in his second ever race

No doubt the pressure for him to win sx has to be mounting.

Damon Bradshaw won his first ever sx in Osaka against Ricky Johnson. What's your point?

I know it hurts you aren't as fast as Haiden, and don't make as much $$, but you still have your keyboard and the downvote button. 🤡

Just remember, if the Haiden-induced boner doesn't go down after 4 hours, consult your doctor...

And Haiden has beaten him 4 times. Your point? And Haiden finished 2nd to Davies 3rd So Davies still lost points to him.

Heres the thing, I enjoy watching Deegan. This very thread I was saying how he was gonna win this summer. But I don't just blindly cheer and fanboy out over him. You know, like you do. He's not nearly as good at sx and it clear to everyone. You're a weird guy. 99% of your posts are defending Deegan. If I had to guess you're 15 yrs old. There's no way a grown man would go so hard defending another dude so blindly

I agree, JuJu definitely had a bad night but seems to be the best in the law of averages which is why he still has the red plate. I think he will stretch out his lead some more judging how this season has gone and his starts will help with the East West Shootouts. Of course, as we saw with Jett, anything can happen.

Davies rocks though. Kid has killer speed, killer mustache and his interviews are pretty golden too haha.

Even worse it’s a 50 year old dude carrying the water for an 18 year old.

I think Davies, Forkner, Lawrence, Hill, and DeWolf are the most talented mxers. Davies riding style looks like a mix of Fonseca and Hansen.

ANAHEIM 1

Time practice

1.04.796 = Haiden Deegan (2nd)
1.06.218 = Cole Davies (6th)

Gap = +1.422

Heat race

They start up front and finish 1st and 2nd. Deegan wins by 6.370 seconds, and is 1.245 seconds faster than Cole on his fastest lap, and 0.974 sec faster on average lap.

Main event

Haiden goes from 19th to 5th, Cole goes from 20th to 8th. There is a 20.736 gap between them. Haiden's fastest lap was 0.2 seconds faster than Cole's. But Haiden's average lap was 1.203 second faster than Cole's.

SAN DIEGO

Time practice

52.848 = Haiden Deegan (1st)
54.043 = Cole Davies (7th)

Gap = +1.195

Heat race

Cole start in the lead and wins. Haiden starts in 5th and ends up 3rd after a crash. Gap between Cole and Haiden is 12.874 seconds. Haiden got a better fastest lap by 1.069 second, but the average lap time of Cole is 1.272 second faster.

Main event

Haiden starts in 8th to finish 3rd, Cole starts in 1st and finish 4th after a crash. Haiden has a faster lap time by 0.549, and also a faster average by 0.387 sec.

ANAHEIM 2

Time practice

58.499 = Haiden Deegan (3rd)
59.461 = Cole Davies (4th)

Gap = +0.965

Heat race

For the first time they are in different heat races. In heat race 1, Cole starts in 5th to finish 2nd while Haiden starts 3rd and ends up 1st. The track was probably cleaner in H1 I guess, Cole finished 8 laps in 7 minutes and 38 seconds versus 7 minutes and 43 seconds for Haiden, therefore Cole's average lap times was actually 1.023 second faster than Haiden's, while Haiden's fastest lap was 0.361 faster than Cole's.

Main Event

Haiden starts in the lead and wins the race, while Cole starts in 7th to finish 3rd. There is a 20.196 seconds gap between them and Haiden's average lap is 0.971 seconds faster than Cole's, while Haiden's fastest lap is 0.704 faster as well.

GLENDALE

Time practice

1.00.190 = Haiden Deegan (2nd)
1.01.006 = Cole Davies (4th)

Gap = +0.816

Race 1

Cole starts in the lead and wins the race. Haiden starts in 4th and finish 3rd. There is a 7.677 gap at the end. Cole's average lap is 0.570 second faster but Haiden has a better fastest lap by only 0.029 seconds.

Race 2

Cole starts in the lead and wins. Haiden starts in 2nd and ends up 2nd. There is a 2.642 gap, Cole's average lap time is 0.167 sec better than Haiden's, and once again Haiden has a better fastest lap by 0.284 seconds this time.

Race 3

Haiden starts in 9th and finished 4th, Cole starts in 20th and finished 8th, there is a 12.380 gap between them at the end. Their average lap times are almost exactly the same, as Deegan is only 0.001 second faster. Haiden's fastest lap is 0.532 seconds faster than Cole's though.

Here is another way to look at all this the percentages of laps consistency for every races so far :

Anaheim 1 heat races then main event

99.11% = Cole Davies
98.17% = Haiden Deegan

99.12% = Haiden Deegan
98.53% = Cole Davies

San Diego heat races then main event

99.42% = Cole Davies
95.82% = Haiden Deegan

98.78% = Haiden Deegan
97.75% = Cole Davies

Anaheim 2 heat races then main event

98.38% = Cole Davies
97.14% = Haiden Deegan

97.16% = Haiden Deegan
97.14% = Cole Davies

Glendale race 1, 2 and 3

99.06% = Cole Davies
97.36% = Haiden Deegan

99.32% = Cole Davies
99.06% = Haiden Deegan

99.22% = Cole Davies
98.74% = Haiden Deegan

After those stats, I think it's pretty clear than Haiden is a faster rider (we all agree on that I guess), even though Cole is getting closer little by little, there is still a gap. On the other hand, Cole is more consistent in his lap times than Haiden's. Means Haiden wil go faster, but the gap between Haiden's fastest and slowest lap is usually bigger than the gap between Cole's fastest and slowest lap.

So my synthetised analyse would be :

Haiden is the fastest rider
Cole is the better rider

He reminds me so much of Reed. Kind of looks like him too in the eyes haha

That's exactly what I said too. His personality reminds me of 2002 Reed. Granted he's not winning like Reed did. But on the bike he looks smoother than '02 Reed at times.

Good post. I think based on what we’ve seen so far its not an overreaction to say Davies SX ceiling could be higher than Deegan, even if fractionally

58.499 = Haiden Deegan (3rd)
59.461 = Cole Davies (4th)

Gap = +0.965

1.00.190 = Haiden Deegan (2nd)
1.01.006 = Cole Davies (4th)

Gap = +0.816

Race 1

Cole starts in the lead and wins the race. Haiden starts in 4th and finish 3rd. There is a 7.677 gap at the end. Cole's average lap is 0.570 second faster but Haiden has a better fastest lap by only 0.029 seconds.

Race 2

Cole starts in the lead and wins. Haiden starts in 2nd and ends up 2nd. There is a 2.642 gap, Cole's average lap time is 0.167 sec better than Haiden's, and once again Haiden has a better fastest lap by 0.284 seconds this time.

Race 3

Haiden starts in 9th and finished 4th, Cole starts in 20th and finished 8th, there is a 12.380 gap between them at the end. Their average lap times are almost exactly the same, as Deegan is only 0.001 second faster. Haiden's fastest lap is 0.532 seconds faster than Cole's though.

Here is another way to look at all this the percentages of laps consistency for every races so far :

Anaheim 1 heat races then main event

99.11% = Cole Davies
98.17% = Haiden Deegan

99.12% = Haiden Deegan
98.53% = Cole Davies

San Diego heat races then main event

99.42% = Cole Davies
95.82% = Haiden Deegan

98.78% = Haiden Deegan
97.75% = Cole Davies

Anaheim 2 heat races then main event

98.38% = Cole Davies
97.14% = Haiden Deegan

97.16% = Haiden Deegan
97.14% = Cole Davies

Glendale race 1, 2 and 3

99.06% = Cole Davies
97.36% = Haiden Deegan

99.32% = Cole Davies
99.06% = Haiden Deegan

99.22% = Cole Davies
98.74% = Haiden Deegan

After those stats, I think it's pretty clear than Haiden is a faster rider (we all agree on that I guess), even though Cole is getting closer little by little, there is still a gap. On the other hand, Cole is more consistent in his lap times than Haiden's. Means Haiden wil go faster, but the gap between Haiden's fastest and slowest lap is usually bigger than the gap between Cole's fastest and slowest lap.

So my synthetised analyse would be :

Haiden is the fastest rider
Cole is the better rider

Haiden has a win, is ahead of Cole in points, and is only 3 points out of the lead (gained on Julian the last two races).  I don't see in what possible universe it could be argued at this point in the season that Cole is a better rider.

It's an unwinnable argument. If we go by stats alone, Haiden has been both faster and better.

But the trump card will always be, "it's Cole's first season" and of course this mysterious, unmeasurable ceiling that some of you think Haiden has reached, but Cole hasn't even come close to.

Just enjoy the races of the West 250 class. Looks like we have multiple guys that can win. And then throw in the East West shootouts - holy shit that will be fun to watch.

You asked him how many he won.

Unless he pursued a career as a pro motocross rider, it's irrelevant.

I know you haven’t been around here long enough but you are like the James fan “The KidP” that stalked any thread with him if people pointed out he wasn’t perfect. He even has a race report where he “threw his napkin” when James crashed out of the race. Was James great? Yes! Was he perfect? No, but there was no convincing him otherwise. Is Deegs a great rider? Yes! Has he underperformed to expectations this SX regional series where only half the competition lined up? Yes, it’s ok he will get plenty of wins you don’t have to get salty when people say it looks like the new kid has more potential
