It’s easy to get injured with just 1 crash but there are certain riders who could go fast but not do a lot of crashing.  Who’s your top 5 “make it look easy and fun” racers?

I know he wasn’t exactly crash-less but for me it’ll always be Villopoto, as I’m typing this I’m also thinking Barcia and Pourcel on the 250’s but I think Ryan V takes this one for me

Dungey, Cairoli, RC, Everts

And then you got Seewer who compared to everyone else has the gnarliest crashes, but never gets injured lol

Dungey was the gold standard for consistency and not crashing.  McGrath was also really good at keeping the rubber side down.  Honorable mention to Cairoli.

Dungey I swear got all of his crashes out in 2008 and almost never crashed again, he honestly might be the best at not crashing we’ve ever seen

McGrath

McGrath was first in my mind as a mythical rider and Purcel popped into my head too even though he broke his back landing on someone abroad and had partial paralysis issues he was still pretty durable and smooth.  RV had some moments like the broken leg but overcame it to wax the competition and had some epic rides like the des nations.  Dungey often gets overlooked because he wasn’t always leading or winning but he had some speed and record book results with not many injuries.  Windham was a fan favorite and Dowd kept it on 2 wheels into a later career.  There must be some 80’s or 90’s guys. LaRocco got injured and had bad starts but he bounced back quick to be in the fight maybe under the tough it out category instead.  With the new 4 strokes most of the  field can run good laps with minimal effort.  Jett gets a lot of press for cruising but Barcia can put on a show with his revv whip factor.  A lot of people say Hanson is their guy to ride like if we’re talking a hot lap demo.  Craig coming back is making it look easy with his setup.  Roczen has the red plate and despite some big crashes he’s got good days.  Carmichael broke records with not too many crashes or injuries.  Reed rode kind of like McGrath with good speed, longevity, and not a lot of injuries.  I am surprised a lot of FMX riders had long careers doing crazy stuff.

Everts and Cairoli for the sophisticated fans who know the sport not just Supercross.  Most of the French exports had some special training and/or handling skills.  Maybe Prado before he just hurt his shoulder.

Towards the end of his career Dungey broke his neck and barely knew it.  He got lucky but was also in good shape that helped.  McGrath hurt his neck too so I am surprised more people aren’t into neck braces if bad dudes like them get injured like that.  RV and RD had neck braces for a while.

I am embarrassed to have forgotten about Emig.  He beat MCGrath at times making it look even more easy and fast with his Shift jersey flapping in the air plus he did videos and had some celebrity status.

Musquin had some odd slapstick crashes but when he was on he showed some good skills. If it weren’t for the whoops. Correction: he did better than I thought for points and podiums.

People say Bayle could ride effortless but that was a little before my time.

You could start a crash and comeback poll for Seewer.  Forkner on the other hand would be the fastest and most talented to have to keep making comebacks without a championship honorable mention Stroupe and Evel.

That’s nothing, there’s a whole new sport of adaptive mx for dudes with all kinds of injuries duct taped to the bike with metal welds around the frame to not break more bones.

RC gets bonus points for making us think he was gonna crash but riding it out and staying on the seat and bars “getting away with murder” thread.

Stew would be making it look easy most of the time and pulling off stuff you’d expect people to crash on or not even try.

Someone recently posted a video of Josh Grant who had some sweet natural bike skills even though he didn’t end up on the all time greats list.

Didn’t the same thing happen to Anderson where he found out later?

David Bailey was smooth and made it look easy. But even the smoothest, most in control rider can have things go very wrong.

McGrath, RC, Dungey. McGrath was the epitome of smooth and controlled. Dungey was also very, very smooth. RC was controlled chaos and a blast to watch. So glad I got to see all those guys race.

I noticed  some of you have Stewart on your list? LMAO  you could literally set your watch by not if, but when he was going to crash during most races, especially Supercross.. Incredibly fast as hell, yes, but it was either crash or checkers with that guy most of the time.

Right. Stewart? Stewart! The thing I'll give to James is for the amount of crashes he was rarely hurt. Like broken bones/ torn ligament hurt. Yes he got banged up but for the amount of crashes he had, he was very durable

Damn you beat me to it I was thinking Pichon.  Remember that crazy crash where he bailed and landed into someone else but didn’t get hurt?  https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1187732484587491&vanity=90smotocross

I guess we could maybe say anyone Mitch hires has their shit together on a bike.

Pastrana could wheel tap the whole whoops section and then backflip on the next jump.

Reed even had the Nac Nac down pat.

If Dungey ever settled for a podium I gotta give him a podium score too.  MC and a few other untouchables on bikes always went for the win.  You wouldn’t want to see them after the race if they came in 2nd.  Reed may have been a whiner but he didn’t want to settle for 2nd either.  Ricky said it was late nights trying to figure out how to beat others.  Dungey may not have crashed but there’s that 1% extra that separated him from the jaw droppers who risked it all to win it all and somehow made it happen.

McGrath, Dungey, Everts, Lechien off top of my head.

Kevin Windham made it look easy and rarely crashed too.
