That’s 53 wins.

I’m a huge Tomac fan. Been on his bandwagon since he was a Suzuki amateur. I say all that to get the bias out of the way.

Does Tomac’s career prove that the 72 win threshold could be broken by the right guy? I know it’s felt absolutely unattainable for the past few decades. Does Tomac’s win total and career span prove anything?

Lots of things would have to fall in place, but could someone actually eclipse the 72 win number and be the new king of SX? (Not trying to be a pot stirrer, just had the thought as a major Tomac fan).

Everyone focuses on the 72 wins. Why do we gloss over the 7 titles? The ultimate goal is to win the title. 53 wins and "just"...

I wouldn't consider a rider the new King if they beat 72 wins but had less titles than MC. I might consider them the new King if they won more titles than MC but didn't break the record of 72 though.

I agree with this.

Also interesting the topic of 15 titles and 150 wins hasn’t been brought up by Jett or anyone else for that matter. Too far out there?

You know that's a good point. Or the 102 MX wins. RC's stats are ridiculous. Never say it's your goal to beat any of them or you're going to look silly lol

That was an awesome race and great battle between Jett and Eli.  I wonder why the just didn't ask Eli whether he considered last night as beast mode.  It would have been a badass move for Eli just to say nah I've got plenty more yet, but he's not really that guy either I guess.

Looking forward to a killer season

Not all goals that are set are met. Nothing wrong with setting your sights high.

If Tomac can stay healthy all year and continues to win races and maybe a title how hard is it going to be to walk away?

It may be hard to walk away then, but he surely couldn't any closer to going out on top!

I was a little surprised he backed it down after getting Malcom because he was pretty close and gaining on cooper.

Webb even “caught” him for a second before Eli turned it up again and dropped him like 2nd period French class

Would be more concerned if he started out front and faded to 7th.

Great series so far. Hope these guys can keep it close.

To be honest, the competition is much stronger, overall, today than it was during the Chad, Ricky, James era. That being said, the Dungey era was also pretty weak in comparison and Eli left a couple of championships on the table.

Granted, it's even more stacked now, and the entire field has improved imo, but I don't know about it being pretty weak in the Dungey era. You still had Dungey, Tomac, Roczen, Anderson, Musquin, Reed, Barcia, Canard, Seely, Baggett.

I thought of this randomly.. Eli has

1. Come from last to fifth

2. Won

3. Come last to fifth.

I’m claiming we’re 3/3 on beast mode this season.

If anything his A2 comeback was more impressive with the wet track.

Honestly I was thinking similar too. He would've easily won Anaheim and would certainly be in the running with Jett at A2 if he wouldn't have spun his rear tire to mach jesus...

He finished 7th. Beast mode to 7th place? It's great to see Eli riding so well but man there's so much coping going on with him this year. If this, if that. If Jett had his bike set up at A1, he'd be undefeated. See how that works?

Gained on the leaders on a horrible track.
