you might be surprised how much money windham and LAROCCO have...Larocco has significant real estate investments starting back in 1992 and windham has been a top pro since hmmm1997 ish...making top money and investing it...yeah the multiples of championships brings bonuses but if all you do is spend it, investments will outrun it in little time...

Reed isn't stupid by any means, but I wouldn't say he is in any way all that much smarter than a bunch of other guys out there. The smartest thing any of them do is make a phone call to someone that knows this stuff. I doubt Reed sat down with his calculator and figured out the feasability of starting his own team and all the aspects necessary to do so. Whoever is in charge of his money probably sat down and did all the figures.

By the way, Roger DeCoster was a motocrosser wasn't he? I would certainly take him in a match of wits with Reed.

I can't help but facepalm every time I hear someone say how business savvy Reed is. Don't get me wrong, in comparison to his fellow pro mx'ers he very well may be. He realized/learned the value of smart investing very early in his career from the sounds of it. But to think he's the one seeking out new ventures and investments and then calculating and evaluating the risk/reward payout...is crazy.

Maybe I'm wrong... but I doubt it.

He's surrounded himself with a manager/accountant/wife/etc. that've helped him to be so successful in his non-racing financial endeavors...and that, in and of itself, is extremely commendable.


As Uptite said, if you want to see a pro mx'r with real business savvy, Greg Albertyn is your guy.

I think Alby also had a lot of money in housing, and a lot of it went tits up. As for Reed being a good businessman. Anyone who circles themselves with smart people to make money are good businessmen. A good businessman should be sitting on a terrace drinking chamgagne/beer while his workers do the work. A good businessman probably spends most of his time on the phone getting other people to do his work for him.

Guys...I believe Reeds father raised him right...IIRC his dad owns a construction company in Austrailia and he comes from a wealthy family.

usually wealthy people raise their kids to be wealthy too (do good in school, be good at whatever, be smart with your $$, etc)

Pastrana has to be making an insane amount per year with Nitro Circus. He’s pretty much his own version of Feld, you have to assume he’s richer than ever. 

Anyone have an idea how much the Nitro Circus brings in per year ?
