Was fun to watch Tomac block pass him hard in the heats last night.

Just like last year when he talked about a goal of surpassing 72 wins he said this season that he had a goal going for a perfect SX season.

He also said that he give him self high goals since he have won every title there is to win now on US soil and want to set the bar high to stay motivated.

And as usual plenty of English speaking fans struggle to understand what a goal means, that it’s not a statement that someone WILL do it, it’s just something to aim for.Or maybe a goal means something else in US than here in Sweden and i have missed something?.

Last year Vital exploded because he had a goal of becoming the best and I can just wonder how some of the grown up men here would respond a child that say that they have a goal to be the best at something when they grow up.

What's funny is that no one is hating on Plessinger for saying he wants to win races and be in the hunt for the championship.

Where's the outrage? Is it different because Jett has higher goals or does AP get a pass because he's a "redneck cowboy" and fans relate?

There's nothing wrong with having lofty goals if that's what keep you motivated.

Saying you want to go 17-0 is kiiiiind of a dis to your competition, IMO

If Deegan said he wanted to go undefeated in 250sx you’d find a way to dislike it I’m sure

Most everything about last night was good for us as fans.  For me though, the best part was seeing Justin Hill making about half of the factory riders and their team managers a little “nervous.”

What is it with OUS people constantly painting Americans as Xenophobic and trying to claim victim status? Jett is an absolute Rockstar here. If you put him and Reed in the pits, they would be the biggest lines at the race. I mean, how many American riders are selling self-branded donuts for God's sake?

I agree with his goals and perfect season makes some sense to me. But, if you're a big dog, some people are going to criticize or not like you. That doesn't mean you're a descendent of slaves or are being oppressed by the evil Americans.

Stop crying like little babies everytime you don't get your fragile ego stroked.

If Deegan said he had a goal of having a perfect season, I wouldn't care. That's his right. Who am I to tell him what he can and can't set as personal goals? Whether it's realistic or not, it doesn't matter. I take it at face value and wouldn't twist his words around.

I have goals. Whether I'll reach them or not, I don't know. It's not going to stop me from trying.

That goes for a variety of topics. I don't care if a person believes in a higher power, they're a dinosaur, live in a simulation, etc.

The battle with him, Prado and i think Tomac ( or was it Hunter) was cool as.

He is a lost talent, IMO, missed his window, but still a great rider.

Did Jett say he would have/expected/was aiming for the perfect season?

Or is this just media and fans putting words in his mouth again?

Both Jett and Deegan pretty much said that it's something thats never happened before so lets try and do it.  I don't see the issue in having these goals, maybe they need to keep some of these goals private, but everything seems to get leaked to the media anyway

I’m totally okay with a statement that he’s going for a perfect season.  It’s right in front of you.  I’ll be okay if he says it next year.  I’d be okay if Chase said it now.  Do I think he will?  No….but I am cheering for him.  The 72 win comment was way too early…and the King is beloved.  Why not say 100?  Get 40 under your belt in a reasonable time and it’s different at that point.  What if Prado had said it after his Heat win last year.  Would you accept that?  Maybe I say it after a good day at Thunder Valley….okay then?  It’s the timing.  Earn the right to say a super-mega-ambitious goal outside of your inner circle.  All JMO.

RC did it in 98’ as far as Deegan and small bikes go.  Jeremy missed it by 1 race on big bikes.

I haven't seen where anyone explicitly stated this, so I'll mention it since it seems applicable in this discussion and it's something I've found to be an essential skill ~

There wont be one , not at least for Jett and Deegan, so thank god that one can die on the vine after round 1.

AC and JB in the booth for RDL was a breath of fresh air.

Split start was dumb.

250

Beaumer doesnt look like a 15 year old hanging on any more. Off season work has been good for him. Besting Deegan in qualification was huge, and taking 2nd, rather than pushing to catch Shimoda, was a sign of maturity we didnt see last year.

Shimoda is always just a start away from a win, or a bad start away from a 6th place finish.

Mosiman and Marchbanks have both got do-overs, and need to be solid top 5 guys every time they are on track.

With Kitchen going East, its the weakest coast , or at least it appears to be. And Deegan cant not win it.

450

With 5 past champions, 450 class is going to be crazy all year.

Sexton thrived on the 'Jett perfect season' chatter and did his work, he knows he is better than last year, and mentally he seems in a better place.

Tomac will be fuming about his heat race, and crash in the main, but he will know he has what it takes, straight of the bat for this season. Beast mode is there,he needs to fing it every week.

Jett will be wanting to reset and start again, he wasnt great in the heat, and he was almost invisible in the main, with what was basically a bad start and a tipover in the sand.  Not making top 10 was huge.

Hunter was off a bit from what i expected, i know he fell in practice, but he wont be happy either.

If Shimoda hadnt won 250, that rig would have been a sombre place to go back to .

Anderson has someone to push him in his own team for the first time in ages, and it showed IMO, he has been average for a while, Prado may not be top 5 ready, but he has the speed to be.

Prado is legit, save for his whoop speed, and his first ride on a Japanese bike , with no 250 SX experience was more than impressive.  2nd in his heat, and running at the front in the main, were not on my card for him, and he will only get better . Arm pump after his crash maybe made him look worse that he was, but it was a great showing , corner speed was Tomac level.

Ferrandis needs to forget A1.

Its going to be a long season under the Rockstar Husky rig. Stew isnt going to anything better than he already has, and now he will be carrying an injury for a week or two, and its all on him.

Roczen was on it, and his bizzarre ' i wanted 2nd'  interview was not as daft as it sounded, he knew he didnt have the speed to win, but 2nd (or 3rd behind either Jett/Tomac/Sexton) was a legut goal, and he made it work, and he did it coming forward, not holeshotting and hanging on.

A1 delivered, it had drama with Kitchen going AWOL, Beaumer besting Deegan in quali and neither of the pre season favourites had a good start to the season.

And this is why we race. Because anything can happen.

AC's gonna be good but for now he needs to stop talking about himself so much - every "insight" doesn't need to turn into some anecdote referring to his short lived glory days

I’m think that no one is hating on Plessinger (or other riders of similar caliber) talking about winning races and being in the hunt for the championship is because it is a reasonable goal. He has won and led races. A perfect season means no one else wins(duh). I think as a private goal its fine, publicly it sounds arrogant like no one else is any good. It doesn’t have the “vibe” of a goal that doesn’t disrespect the  competition. FWIW - I think the perfect season last year in MX was hyped by the media and I don’t recall Jett being hated once the wins were rolling. If Jett was at 8 straight wins in SX, it would be an uncontroversial goal IMO, but this is round 1.

Saying you want to go 17-0 is kiiiiind of a dis to your competition, IMOIf Deegan said he wanted to go undefeated in 250sx you’d find...

If Deegan said he wanted to go undefeated in 250sx you’d find a way to dislike it I’m sure

whts the difference in wht Jett saying  wht he said vs wht other athletes be saying 🤔 when ur the best & u feel like ur the best , act like it 🤷🏾‍♂️ at the end of the day why ppl get offended by wht these ppl say when their the ones tht gotta answer the call

to add on cause I’m in tht type of crashing out mood right now cause half of yal on here are so damn retarted and just looking for a reason to hate on somebody , how is it tht American MMA fans embraces a Russian fighter for wanting to dominate a WHOLE WEIGHT CLASS just to get a “SUPER MONEY FIGHT” with another champion in a different weight class but American motocross fans upset tht a young Australian hotshot wants to break some records 🤔🤔 😂😂 half of yal in here are soft , news flash ppl ….. records are meant to be broken , it’s only the inevitable with sports evolution cause give or take another 15 to 20 yrs , there’s goona be another phenomenon thts goona be even better than wht jett is & have even more of a goal setter than wht Jett is dreaming of

Amazing the bulk of the top ten is over 30 years old. When are all the Loretta Lynns golde boys going to take it from them?

All the rest have milked the 250 class rather than back themselves against the likes of Barcia and Stewart.  And in SX, they are racing half the 250 class.

I reckon your take is spot on.

Until those Tomac, Barcia, Mookie, Ando etc. sign up for the vet class there is nowhere to go. Look at all the rider in their late 20s in the 250 class. I heard during the broadcast that Jordan smith was 28. I think RJ is close too. I know there are others but I don't think they will bring much star power to the class.

We’re going to find out about RJ later this year.  He’s contracted for 450 outdoors.  Going to be interesting for sure.  With Husky struggling with their current 450 guys, he might actually be a breath of fresh air.

I don't see him changing on the 450.  RJ is set in stone at this point - fast but always crashes.
