Dealers get kick backs from the banks and financing companies for bringing them customers.

So the dealers make more money if you finance than they do if you pay cash.

Yes they do, but i've never seen it any higher than 2.5% of principal.

2.5% seems like a reasonable chunk of change when typical dealer margins are pretty low - often under 10%.

I saw in the local socal shop they dropped them 2k from list. 7999. I think they'll update to the 25 ecu maps and clutch mods for free as well....basically making it a 25 model.

I did find one at $5999 that was a demo model but they still wanted $1800 mark up.  When i asked for a break down on the fees it still included a set up fee.

The price is listed,  plus PDI (pre delivery inspection, which is talking it out of the crate and putting the front wheel, handlebars on), plus freight.

Those two are usually 400 each.

Plus tax on all of it.

Mentioning PDI ….

I Saw a time lapse video the other day showing everything a 2025 CRF build consisted of. Disassembling the crate just to access the bike. Physically Picking up the bike with no handle bars or front wheel out of the lower crate and setting it on top a bike stand. Taking all the parts out of packaging and making sure it is all there to assemble. Disposing of the steel or wooden crate. Installation on the bike. Processing the PDI inspection and check list filling out the paperwork.

The entire build process is a LOT more labor intensive than people seem to think it is.

Bullshit.  I had a friend some years ago that worked at a dealership. One of his jobs was to put together new MX bikes and put them on the floor.  It took him 30 minutes to do each one and toss the crate in a pile out back,  then another guy would do a walk-around and start it up (5 min). At that time he was making $12 / hr and they were charging $250 for PDI.   Just sayin...

It took me over an hour on average to do set ups on MX bikes when I worked at a dealer. I was thorough though, didn't just slap them together with an impact. Digging the crate out, taking the cover/top off of the crate, strapping it to a fork truck to lift it up, pull the bottom of the crate out, set it on a stand, unwrapping/unboxing all the parts, then actually assembling and giving a shit about proper assembly, then disposing of the crate and all the garbage left over. Sometimes would immediately PDI since at that point all that was usually left was gassing it up and checking the oil, sometimes wouldn't. I'd like to see a video of everyone saying it only takes 20-30 minutes to do.

He did 2 an hour. And yes, they were slapped together because he would get yelled at by the owner if he took  10 minutes too long!  Lol!

Agreed! Don’t forget, unloading it from the truck, inspecting for damage, file trucking paperwork and hauling/organizing it in the warehouse.
