So multiple supercross events around the world during this off season have used the Superpole event as part of their night show program, i am wondering if this is something that could be a good option for AMA SX to be run also ?
Perhaps there has been discussions and talks about this subject in recent years i'm not sure, i'll say that as a fan it's honestly quite fun to watch a superpole event, just full focus on 1 rider having to execute the perfect lap under pressure. This could also bring some more eyes on riders / teams that possibly would get some lesser airtime during broadcasts when running mid-pack in a heat race or main event.
There could be potentially multiple ways to add this into a night program, like some kind of top 10 shout-out for gate picks going into the heat races or main event, some kind of side program category that awards a championship points to the winner (kind of like F1 fastest lap does), or potentially other ways i'm not thinking about right now.
We've seen experimentation with stuff like triple crowns and semi's etc so it does look like they are trying to find the perfect formula for a night show program. Then again this kind of thing possibly is deemed to dangerous for no reward and has no place in a AMA SX event at all.
What do you guys think ?

For some reason though WSX don't show the superpole on the broadcast anymore this year, why? Specially since it awards points now, weird decision.

Havent watched today’s WSX yet but it was so exciting last week in Paris - it always is! I’d live them to find a way to incorporate it into SX, as well as in MXGP. I’d replace saturday’s quali race (which turns into a preview of Sunday’s racing with the leaders riding round at 80% most of the time), to timed quali and the top 8 or 10 going into Superpole.

I think it would get "old" at every round. I'd like to see it at Triple Crowns which would make the event even more unique.

Yes, yes, yes. I'm all for it. I've always thought that would be a great addition to AMA Supercross.
I'd settle for just having RDL showing the hot laps of the top 4-5 riders who consistently qualify well.
Even if it's a replay.
Im all in for giving the top 5 qualifiers a chance at a super pole whith a fitting points system that actually rewards the fastest rider and not a symbolic 1 point.
Give the fastest rider 5 points, second fastest 3 points and the third fastest 1 point or something like that so the riders will go for it.
Looking at the Moto GP sprint races the riders outside of de good rewarding points often just mail it in because there is all risk and no reward to make a pass late in the race to gain one point but if you crash you loose it all.
Superpole is not as exciting to me as other people seem to think it is. Having said that I wouldn't mind if they had the top five from QP1 do a superpole lap before or at the end of QP2 to lay down a heater for the early fans without screwing with the night show.

I remember watching superpole (was called a shootout) as a kid at an Aussie SX back in the 1980s, it’s hard to believe it’s never been at least tried in AMA.
