I feel the topic of too many games or races is a globally problem tht gotta be discussed on a deeper level , on hand 1 I do feel its getting outta control with the amount of mandatory events of the reg season schedule & even for the nfl , Roger goddell wants to add even more games to the reg season but at the same time this is wht the athletes agreed too for the money they getting , whether its moto , basketball, baseball, football etc…. then off season wise while other sports have a tru off season some of the athletes do go out to do other stuff just to stay in shape for the upcoming season , never taking a break but in moto it really don’t seem like they have a tru off season but like some , these guys racing a whole bunch of off season races just to get tht extra money. so across the board as far as the overall season, where do anybody see a tru balance 🤔
Non moto
IMO, riders are searching for peak performance and kind of panic if they aren't rested for the next round. The way I see it is that lack of rest is part of the challenge in winning a title, conserving energy during the week is a strategy.
it is moto related cause everybody going thru the same problem , i forgot to mention on pulp basically Eli told Jett & chase why u guys complaining bout having a long season when there’s extra money on the table , so for the ppl thts saying the racing season is too long or any other sport the season is too long , what’s the solution for a good balance of keeping the athletes happy while keeping the fans entertained & satisfied
It is tho, OP parallels this with the long moto season.
As for the long season, as a fan I love it.
As a rider, I would hate it😂 (even if there is more money).
Money ain't everything, especially when your health is more important.

This is not related to adding more races to the calendar. The Texans have just experienced a strange scheduling quirk that makes 2 of the 3 games involved occur with less planning time than normal. They are still playing the same number of games, so they will have longer time between games after that run.
And while there are definitely some naturally gifted athletes who take "off time" between their seasons, it probably isn't as much as you think. Their "off time" means that they are only doing about 125% of what most humans could do to stay in shape, not 200%. Baseball players almost never stop hitting or throwing, basketball players almost never stop working out, and MOST football players don't stop lifting, running, etc.
If they lose their competitive edge, there is always someone else who is willing to put in the work to take their spot.
The difficult thing about moto compared to the stick and ball sports is that an injury can quickly ruin your season, whereas in a team sport there is usually someone who can replace you and at least try to win games for the team, etc.
NHL regularly plays 3 games a week or back to back games, getting enough rest is absolutely something that gets taken into consideration.
I miss the COVID Wednesday night races.
The problem I have is Jett and Hunter (and others) agreeing it's too many races, but then he is doing Aus X and Paris, not to mention MXoN. I actually agree the season is crazy long, but if they are adding worldwide travel along with added races it apparently is not too long.
The difference is there's little to no pressure at those off-season races. If they don't perform at their top level, no one really cares.
When the real season rolls around, they have to be at their very best, week in and week out, for 31 races. I'd venture to say that it's the mental grind that takes it's toll just as much, if not more, than the physical grind.
I can certainly see that, but if they need the rest, they need the rest whether physical or mental.

And they treat the riders very well, feld would pushback against cutting some races by saying, well you guys go to paris and aus to race anyway, so lets keep it the same, feld just doens't know the money they could make and how good they get treated.
It is and always will be about $.
Same here, loved having a couple week break to build up the anticipation and then have 3 races in a week.
For the rest of you, stop whinning about too many races. The promotors will never lower the number of races and the money they make. Might as well shake your fist at the clouds.
There is no problem. Riders are lasting longer than ever (Reed, Brayton, Tomac). They can focus on different series (Roczen with WSX). And the main series is still bigger than ever (SMX).
More racing for the fans. More opportunities for the riders. There is no problem.
Yes , you might say the season is long and yet there are riders that come right out of the season and then go do WSX and other races for the money.
Pit Row
I don’t have the answer but when only 1-4 riders make every round you might be racing too much, or the tracks are breaking down too much. Injuries will always be part of the sport but feld should be concerned if only a couple guys make every race.
Go sports ball team!
The semantics they use here is stupid. An NFL team plays 2 games in 8 days every week. One game every 4 days. 3 games in ten days is 1 game every 3.33 days. Not a huge difference. But 3 games in 10 days sounds bad.
And? What's your point?
Agree. Also, their opponent (Baltimore) has the same schedule (games on the 15th, 21st and 25th). Every team has one or two times per year where they are playing a game on only 3 days rest. (Usually this is Sunday-Thursday) In this example, Baltimore and Houston are also playing on 3 days rest (Saturday-Wednesday). These limited rest games are not great for quality of play and may lead to a slight increase in injuries. BUT, they also lead to more money in the players' bank accounts.
I also quibble with the claim that it's 3 games in "10" days. That means somebody is subtracting Dec 15th from Dec 25th and getting 10.
Does that mean when a basketball team plays a game on October 29th and October 30th, they are playing 2 games in 1 day? (Oct 30 - Oct 29 = 1 day)
It seems every sporting discipline is starting earlier or ending later, or both.
If a championship was determined by best 10 of 15 races (not that it should be or any mfg would support it), would a top rider say "enough" after 10-12 races? Or would individual race win/bonus money keep them coming back like the off-season races.
It seems what they want is a shorter season, same money. Then more time for off-season races for more money. So it seems the goal is not really time off for rest, it's time off to do "side hustle" of off-season races. Not unreasonable just not a consistent story.
Fair enough then.
All of that sounds easy, until you actually try it.........
An offensive or defensive lineman exerts an incredible amount of energy in those claimed 5.5 minutes of actual game play. I don't think it can be conveyed adequately until it's been tried. Even at the lower levels it is exhausting. At the NFL level? Well, I've only had two close friends who play on the offensive line in the NFL, and I will tell you that their workloads were pretty damn epic. Did they have the same need for cardio as a soccer or hockey player? No. But neither of those were pushing around and being pushed around by 300-600 pounds of other humans while trying to perform, either.
I've actually seen people claim that hockey can't be that demanding because of all the line changes they make. All I can do is shake my head and wonder if they have ever tried to skate like that for any length of time at all. And I already know the answer if they are making those types of statements.
Edit: Just for a frame of reference and this may or may not relate to 'athleticism' or 'work performed', but back in the fall of '86 I had a college roommate who was entering his redshirt Junior year of college. He was over 6'7 (he was listed as 6'6 because NFL coaches thought that tall interior linemen would block a QB's view too much!) and had just crossed the 300lb mark that summer. He weighed in the first day of fall camp at 305. And he couldn't maintain that weight through the season. He was eating over 12,000 calories on a SLOW day, and more when he could cram it in. Granted, some of the calories (a few hundred maybe) were from some gelatinous drinks that weren't exactly advanced back then and may not have really stayed in long enough to convert, but he ate a LOT of meats, breads, dairy, and vegetables. He would have a 'bedtime snack' a lot of nights that consisted of 5 frozen burritos microwaved covered with a can of chili, a can of tuna, a bunch of shredded cheese, a can of olives, and half a tub of sour cream and half a jar of salsa. When the last game of the regular season ended, he was just below 280, despite him eating everything that he could possibly put down for the last 3 months.
So yes, it may seem like only 'playing 5.5 minutes a game' is a very easy, non-taking thing to do, but it's incredible the amount of work that has to be done to do that both before and during the games.
Not slamming any other sports in any way (except bowling of course....!) but the perceptions of athletes in any sport are pretty different than reality in most cases. Most of the time we all downplay the efforts required unless it is something that we have at least somewhat experienced, and even then we probably discount it too much if we only participated at a lower level.
Here's an idea that probably won't fly, but i'll bring it up anyway.
As a fan, we want more races.
Pro racers want less races.
How about splitting up the 450 SX class to East and West like the 250's? Then throw them all together for a final showdown like the 250's. This would give them some breaks during the SX season, and still appease our appetite for more races.
