just wait till we get it in Oz......

That table top at Ayers Rock moto park is KILLER!

Would be cool if they did one in Aus but I’d put the odds at +4000 of it happening

They have a GP there next year. Maybe testing the water?

Possibly. I just think it’s a big ask to get the USA and Europe to travel to Australia at the end of the year. They haven’t had one outside of Europe or US since Brazil 1999 right?

Long ways to go for sure. I think you’re right, 99 was the last “fly away” MXdN

The diversity of the MXoN schedule is looking pretty grim now with them going to Ironman in 2025, then back to Ernee in 2026 and then back to Ironman again in 2027.

Budds creek was pretty cool in 2007. Red bud 2022 was great.

never been to a European one though. It’s on my bucket list.

Sometimes its a novelty to go on vacation in Europe (or other areas) and attend sporting events like Golf, F1, Rugby, soccer, etc.  I know I'd rather attend a 6 nations rugby match than any rugby game played in the US.  For Rugby 7s, the best hands down is the Hong Kong 7s.  Soccer?  Any match in Europe will blow away the US events.  Watch a professional basketball game (NBA or other), and the US is easily hands down the best environment.  Baseball in America is the best.  As for MX, I'd say that depends on the specific track venue as much as anything.  MXoN at Red Bud has been bad ass (outside of shitty weather).  MXoN at Lakewood, CO was more like another national.

Side note, I can see that Eli really liked that track - his results prove it too.  Dude was on it and having fun.  A happy Eli is a fast Eli.

I think Ironman as serious potential to be good.  I'm excited.

Are they really heading back to Ironman in '27?

They said they had the next 5 events planned out, but only announced next year and Ernée in '26.

Dechambeaut in Canada would do well,  Quebec fans are rabid.

I went to the Nations in 2022 at Red Bud. It was no more rowdy than a standard weekend at Unadilla....Pretty standard Nationals shenanigans really. I can see how everyone who is used to the US circuit would find a race in Europe more fun and lively...it is something different from the normal race weekend.

It may be a big ask but it shouldn’t be.

Aussie, Kiwi and Asian teams have been travelling to Europe and the US for decades, without any chance of success most of the time I might add. Why shouldn’t they have one in their own region every now and then?

What about Guam, that little Melanesian island that turns up from time to time…….oh wait…..

Last time the MXoN came to Australia was 1992 at Manjimup in WA. USA won with Liles, La Rocco and Emig. After 36 years it’s time to bring the show back down under.

I went to the red bud MXON and it felt like a Red Bud 4th of july weekend party. Some Euros mixed in that had a cool vibe that made it slightly different. Also went to Budds Creek 2007 MXON and that to me felt very euro. What a weekend that was.

I’m sure with enough green stuffed in Luongo’s pockets you could host again.

Was at MXON in Matterley, Trying to analyse what makes this a festival atmosphere and the obligatory mayhem of chainsaw, air horns, burning things, flags, monster girls, patriotism on steroids and last but not least some pretty special dirt bike riders it suddenly struck me. The demographic was mostly male and as any female will tell you us men never really grew up so it’s just a time to shake off all the shackles of responsibility and rat race based prohibitions.  You can get that at most sporting events but it just seems to ramp up at MXON.

I was at Maggiora in 2016, and RedBud in 2018 and 2022. I've also been to several MX Nationals from Glen Helen to Southwick, and an MXGP in Lommel. In my opinion, the energy at an MXON is at least 2X that of any regular season race, period. Now U.S. versus Europe: It depends on what you value, but If I had to choose between another RedBud or Maggiora, I would choose Maggiora. While motorsports in the U.S. offers its own unique appeal, particularly with the excitement and fan-friendly culture of series like MX, NASCAR, IndyCar, etc, the overall atmosphere at European motorsport events, again to me, seems to be more passionate and sophisticated, more like attending a cultural festival rather than just a sporting event. In my interactions, fans in Europe seem often more knowledgeable and deeply engaged with the technical aspects of racing. The support for teams and riders is akin to the loyalty seen in European football, with passionate fanbases that have followed the sport for generations. Not that we don't in the U.S. (especially those that are in this forum), but overall it just seems to be at a little deeper level. The European events are a nice mix of sport, lifestyle, and culture, with exclusive VIP areas and high-end hospitality (not just roped off areas with all you can drink booze from plastic cups and a mediocre buffet), creating a more refined atmosphere. I was fortunate enough to get access to the VIP area, and was sipping wine from a proper glass and eating jumbo shrimp and cheese from a cheese wheel next to a pool in Maggiora while viewing the race. But even the non-VIP vibe still feels more robust, and the international flare also adds another layer to the experience. Don't get me wrong, I still love the U.S. events and will of course continue to attend those, but the question is whether I agree with Matthes stating MXONs in Europe are better, which I have to say I do.

My two cents.

Makes sense that the more people from different countries that attend, the more interesting its going to be.

Also Americans don't care about MXDN. I was at a race all weekend, going around updating people on results and nobody could care less. Most of them didn't even know it was happening.

European moto has a vibe that American moto simply can't match. Been to both. Matthes is right.

Although I wouldn’t be able to attend it a nations in AUS would be pretty cool to see , I get why we have to go to USA a lot but Australia deserves one if it’s possible , huge market and currently the best in the world 👍

Main to take away from this is don’t listen to anything Matthes has to say. He’s just a man, with flawed opinions

“Flawed opinions” …….. classic Vital, I love it.

Why so? The only difference for the european countrys to go to either US or AU’s is the time spent on a flight.

It’s the same job otherwise and you never hear any complaint from the European side when they have to go to the US.

Its definitely true, and if you think about it it makes perfect sense. Dozens of countries send their own teams to the event and in europe its a short flight for people from all the different countries to make it to mxon. So every single team from all different countries are able to have tons of their own fans there cheering for them. Youre going to get an amazing crowd when every team has their fans there compared to the US where its extremely far away from europe so its going to be mostly US fans plus a spattering of people who can afford the travel. Obviously a multi team event will be better when all the teams fans are there vs only some. In order to compare to mxon in the US it would have had to have been mostly british fans at matterley with a few international fans. Somewhere like Australia that is also very far away would have a similar issue. For it being mostly US fans though we still create a very good atmosphere for MXON given the constraints.

The teams find it a financial struggle to currently to cover costs

it could work out logistically just too expensive, not so bad for the big teams, but for the smaller countries participating it could be a deal breaker, but would be great to see.

so hopefully one day the fat cats can give something back and put their hand their pockets

When I go to an Mx race, I want to see an Mx race, not a freak show with chainsaws, blow horns and drunks thinking they are part of the show….I been through the early years Unadilla crazy days/nites ….nothing like standing next to guy that gets pummeled in the face with a full bottle of beer from across the big fire pit..😂 87 mxdn was pretty crazy at Unadilla and the last one at Budds Creek 07? was good also…maybe we should just all go to Burning man and wear thongs?
