VMC MX track

Sitting at work thinking about MX tracks that have closed down (been thinking about Milestone a lot lately.... Ugh). What was the deal with this place? I remember riding there a few times when I was a kid and thought it was a good track. It's been closed for 20 years, no new developments have popped up near by and the track is literally still there. Is there any glimmer of hope of it ever re-opening? Does anyone know who owns the land now? There's also a landfill right next to it, what a perfect neighbor for a track. Seems like a great location for a track with no one nearby to complain about dust, noise etc.IMG 5473IMG 5472

Ahhh that track was super fun 1st thing in the morning. Fun jumps, owners were super cool. I think the biggest downfall was it was so far down the 15fwy. I drove it from corona at the time and it was two hours.

It was originally Stoddard Wells right? Really liked that place. Had my first race on my 60 there. My dad and I rode there a few times before and after that. It was a pretty fun layout from what I remember, but we are talking 97 or 98 so it's been a while.

That's true. Back then it seemed like such a drag to drive over an hour to ride with how many tracks there were 20 years ago. I feel like now people wouldn't mind as much and would just be stoked to have another track in the rotation to ride. Hell, look at Cal city MX.

It's off of Stoddard Wells road, yes. According to the internet, the official name was "Adrenaline Motocross park".

This is what's left of my parents track. Started around 2000 and sold in 2012. Went through 2 different owners and now it's back to farmland. At it's peak, they were pulling 500 entries for a Sunday race. I miss it.

Rode there twice back in 2002 or 2003. Super fun typical hi-dez track with sandy bowl turns and fun jumps. That big jump across the front fence line was pretty big tho... at least for me at the time.  Long haul from OC tho.  i probably passed 6 tracks on the way to this place back then.

Here's some more info on the place with pics of what's left of it. Also some video taken with a potato back in '02

I now live in az and we have acp witch is 100 miles away one way and motoland which is the lake Elsinore of Arizona. Bluegrove and square edge bumps that make your shoulders scream when you hit one. I now ride mtb full time and quite riding.

It's too bad this VMC track shut down for good (?) as it would have been a reasonable traveling distance for me. It looks like it would be a great venue for a GP race.

Speaking of old tracks on I15, I recently discovered these weirdo looking tracks adjacent to the abandoned water park near Yermo.

Shortly after I posted this I noticed that as well. Can't tell if it's a moto track or a truck racing track. Looks a bit big to be for bikes. I wonder who built it

Shame how moto just dried up in Az. I lived in Gilbert in the 90's, nice times lots of good tracks.

Bought some land in NW Az in 2004 and built a private track in 2014 so i don't have to worry about somewhere close to ride it's my back yard.

A bit far for most valley riders over 2 hours so i mainly get riders from Havasu and Prescott but y'all are welcome anytime.

I raced VMC one time way back in the day for a Golden State or Trans Cal or something like that.  The day I was there, it was a like a wind tunnel.  The freezing wind, dust, and huge jumps made it pretty terrifying as I recall.

Wind was always an issue at the high dez tracks

I’m told what you see here was lake Deloris Mx

70’s and early 80’s they raced there

A guy who retired from my work told me all about it , Rodney Brand sr said he battled there all the time with rocket Rex Staton

Don’t talk about milestone 😩. How many of you guys remember this track? Was working on a piece of equipment at badlands landfilI then realized I was sitting right above De Anza. I was too young when it closed to really remember it. Just heard a lot about it from the old timers. Rode out to it from my house last year. Remnants of it are still there.IMG 3467.jpeg?VersionId=CFk4gZA7IEuQa5

Back in the early 2000's, we would ride over from Gilman Springs road.  There was a tunnel under the 60 and a couple of pretty aggressive hill climbs but it wasn't too bad.  Some of the old Yamaha track was still there as was the main.

DeAnza was fun! Hills, bowl turns, pretty hard pack for practice days. I think the last time I was there was 83-84?

I've read about motocross races in that area around that era but didn't realize it was that close to the waterpark. I'm surprised the remnants of the tracks are still so visible after all this time.

It would have been cool if they had converted the place to a motorsports park after it shut down the most recent time. With the infrastructure they had in place before the vandalism (real restrooms, shops/snack bars, paved parking) it could have had the potential to be one of the better facilities in all of SoCal.

Sounds like you guys need better chassis and suspension settings.

Raced VMC with the othg and oldtimers a couple times. Did a night race there once, the lighting was minimal at best. There were a couple jumps where the landings were completely dark, sketchy af. 😬

Best memory from there ?  Remember when they had the freestyle jumps there ? The Six pak ?  3 giant jumps going one way then a u turn and back the other way.  We were camping off Bell mountain road and rode over there to check it out. I was with my wife and young kids, and a couple other people. The place seemed empty. We rode in and were sitting between 2 of the jumps not even realizing they were jumps, it looked more like they were just storing dirt in big piles ( like 15-20 foot ? high piles )  Anyway we hear a bike fire up and say hey someone else is here too, probably 10 seconds later we hear a 2 stroke pinned on the rev limiter and look up to see an upside down bike flying waay over our heads, my wife screamed because she thought she was going to watch someone die lol.  Turned out to be Mike Cinqmars and Shae Bentley taking turns doing the biggest jumps we'd ever seen in our lives. That was our first exposure to freestyle type jumps in person and we were in awe.. We watched for about 20 minutes until they took a break so we rode over to see who it was.  My wife was saying "Those guys are fucking crazy" the kids were saying "I want to go find a jump"   Great...... 😝   Sad to think how many tracks are gone now.

Were those the jumps Mike Cinqmars got hurt on? I thought those were at racetown

I think Bill has VMC and Racetown 395 mixed up. Racetown had the 6-pack.

When is the last time you've been to Motoland?  Since the new owners?   Yeah, the dirt by nature is hard pack.  But they do a pretty good job prepping it.  The trick is you have to be there right when they open to get the soft stuff.  Get your motos in and get out when it starts getting baked.  It's the AZ dez, what can ya do?  The Vet track is down right soft and loamy in the morning.  Especially since the remake a few weeks ago.  I drive 3 hrs each way to get to Motoland and I'm glad to have it!

MCMP in Tucson closed when COVID started in 2020 and never reopened.   Also, guys from the Phoenix area would have no idea what you're talking about anyway because they basically never came to MCMP because it was a 2 hr drive for them.  😁
