NFL has grown while participation in youth football has declined. The money in moto still comes from riders riding and buying things, not from spectators and tv deals. only people benefiting from higher attendance and better ratings right now are promoters and that isn't going to keep moto companies in business. Everyone drives cars so it's easier to justify participation in F1 and Nascar as marketing to the masses. Most of your neighbors will go their whole life without stepping into a powersports dealership though.

Long story short, growth without participation in moto isn't really growth.

Well put Truck.

He has been.  He’s said his wrist was broken and the pins need to be removed sooner rather than later, and that there’s recovery time. He doesn’t owe any explanation beyond that since that is a legitimate reason to skip the MXoN.

The problem isn’t with Haiden, it’s with people like you who are going to hate on him no matter he does. If he went and lost, you’d be first in line to tell everyone. If he doesn’t go, you just make up a narrative and use that to hate on him some more.

Tomac skips MXoN: “Kawasaki won’t let him go, that’s legitimate.” (even though Eli said it was his choice)

Sexton skips MXoN: “He’s moving to a new team, that’s legitimate” (even though Honda said they would get him a bike)

Haiden skips MXoN: “needs a surgery. How dare he take time to get the pins remove and listen to the doctors. I had mine removed and was riding two days later! He’s just making excuses. Waves the flag, what a fake patriot.”

The above is how ridiculous some of you look. Supposedly grown men lashing out at an 18 year old who chose to do what’s best for his career and health, as if he dodged the draft during a war.

The problem isn’t because he needs the surgery, it’s how it was handled with regard to MXoN.  It was known about for months; if that was the right time to do it just come out and say it well in advance so the team selection can move forward.

From everything I’ve read and listened to it seems like there is a reasonable level of credibility to the claim that Deegan only wants to go if he thinks they can win, hence delaying for so long to see where Tomac was at.

I also listened to Chase on Pulp.  While I agree with what he said about MXoN availability and selection, it was a bit rich coming from him after he could have ridden it last year on a Honda and decided not to.

Most of the posters foaming at the mouth in these threads are not American, including rbot. For some reason Haiden Deegan missing the MXdN has caused a couple of continents to lose their collective minds.

Seems like plenty of American fans who don’t like it either.

Here’s the reason a lot of fans outside the US don’t like the whole situation (not just the Deegan bit) - most of us come from countries that have zero hope of winning and or evening getting on the podium, and yet still find a way to send a team every year.  In many cases these teams never have a home MXoN, their riders aren’t full time professionals and a lot of the time can’t even afford to ship their bikes so they race on rented bikes out of a van.  Then we watch the debacle of the country with the deepest talent pool, and the most money and resources, fumble their way through an embarrassing selection process full of claims and excuses about too hard, too much money and don’t want to go if we can’t win.

This is from a nation that has a home MXoN every 3-4 years at which every man, his dog and the dog’s fluffer will be banging on the door to be part of the event.

Show some humility, and respect to the majority of other teams whose riders who go every year, and remember that you are making a living from a recreational activity - you aren’t as important and valuable to the world as you might think.

Actually I believe the issue was he would have been on an unfamiliar/untested KTM.

I think KTM would have frowned on that but it's just a guess.

Are you a paid cheerleader? I’ve never seen so much dedication to just a rider you’re a fan of. You’ve been trying to convince everyone for 2 weeks. Let it go. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Just like your boy, who swore all season people were trying to take him out.

I know, that was outrageous.  He forgot when the MXDN  would be?  These terrible fibs, half truths and obfuscations from the Deegan's and their third rate PR department are unbelievable and don't help when they try to say they're 'clearing the air'.

He said he “forgot” about MXON when booking his appointment.

Says a lot.

What he actually said was that there was an extra screw put in so he could race, and that it would have to be taken out at end of season. He then then said that at the beginning of the season he wasn’t really thinking about the MXoN, and forgot it was right after.

Why would he be thinking about the MXoN 9 or 10 months earlier when dealing with an injury?

He talked about forgetting when booking the appointment to get the screw removed.

Are you saying he said he booked that 9-10 months in advance?

I don’t recall hearing that and don’t care enough to listen again.

It appears you didn’t listen the first time either. I think the horse has been beat enough. I’ll be cheering on Chase, AP, and Chance.

Hopefully next year, Haiden will be chosen for the MXoN, is injury free, and walk away with another 250 MX title.

Warning: Long Post

Gypsy Tales released a podcast with Adam Enticknap, and they got to talking about Haiden not going to nations, Jase’s answer makes complete sense but also makes you think about if this situation has happened in the past or has the possibility of happening again. Chase Sexton raced nations on honda, with monster, then the next year he gets selected, he rides for another brand, ktm, and energy drink brand, red bull, that was attached to Team USA team manager, Roger DeCoster(KTM Team Manager, I think)you can’t tell me they didn’t talk about how chase may not like some parts on his current setup that he can't change, or whatever, and Roger probably said something like I can give you all the parts to make you comfortable or something like that. If you were Bobby Reagan(Star Owner) and you want to basically hand haiden and monster, Bobbys biggest asset, to roger to race nations, after the situation with chase, then you just let your biggest asset have a chance of leaving to a rival team and energy drink brand.
This is my understanding of what he said, I added the peoples roles if they had one so my mom would be able to understand their importance in the team.

I finally watched the vid.  This was the first time seeing Track Talkers 722 and it'll be my last.

Adam was so freaking hyper with his constant "dude" and "Bro" comments and nervous sounding laughter that he made Deegs seem mellow in comparison.  I don't need Bro's and Dude thrown in every other word in an interview.

Gypsy Ho is a moron.  Does he not think Roger can easily speak to Haiden any time he wants?  Presumably that even bigger moron 722 was nodding along and agreeing with lots of 'dudes' and 'bros'.
