When I opened this forum…

This thread had 260 posts…

The MXON Team Announcement thread had 60…

And both were created by Micheal within 25 minutes of each-other.

So, a coupl’a things are apparent after reading them both: The Deegan Haters are serious about their hate for or hate “on” lil’ Deegs…and they aren’t as serious about their care or support for the actual MXON team.

Welcome to the internet.

....and the thumbs down of your post is further evidence.   (...and watch those numbers grow)  😂

Vital Deegan haters.....

Deegan is a kid with a long bright future ahead of him if he stays healthy, healthy is the key word. To condemn him for not being a patriotic altruistic for a motorcycle race smacks of pettiness and posturing. As those that wrap themselves in the flag condemning him for not going to a bike race, should perhaps look inward to see if they are as patriotic as they can be, rather than curse this teenager needing surgery.

That's a weird way of saying that nobody here is trying to "cancel" Deegan. Deegan has the freedom to say and do as he pleases and we all have the freedom to bash him for being a hypocrite who only uses patriotism as a marketing tool and uses nonsensical excuses to back out when it's time to actually represent his country. This makes 2 years in a row that he's refused to represent Team USA

Having wrist pins removed is a very minor procedure that does not take long to heal from. My brother had it done and was back riding in 2 weeks. It's clearly not affecting his riding and the surgery is a BS excuse he's using because he doesn't want to get beat overseas. Chance has agreed to go with a torn knee, so I have zero respect for Deegan's decision

another thing I like to add , as my football coach use to tell us no matter if our brothers are injured or can’t play due to academics , its next man up! instead of whining & complaining bout haiden not going , just shift ur energy towards chance & support him stepping up without bashing somebody just because , these athletes ain’t getting paid to race MXDN & yes I get it , its a pride thing but still , MXDN happens every single damn yr for this sport , everybody will have equal amount of opportunities yr end & yr out! just like the kawhi lenoard situation this yr with USA Olympic basketball team how the clippers GM took his ass off the roster & sent his ass back to LA to rehab some more and get ready for the ‘24-‘25 NBA season , there’s goona more ppl bowing out of the MXDN in the future for their reasons , so cut all this whining & moaning shit and let’s get back to work

Thanks for your prognosis doc.....This has way more to do with Star and team USA's lack of ability to raise the necessary funds to cover 100% of the costs...you all can be as angry as you want at Deegan and Star but the true anger should be at those responsible for the utter failure that is raising funds for Team USA.....don't forget to buy your candy bar to help next year....

Another bullshit excuse. Money clearly isn't stopping Chance from going, and he made way less than Deegan this year. You seriously think if Deegan wanted to go Star wouldn't make it happen?

And if what you say is true then Deegan's camp is lying about the surgery being the reason he's backed out...AGAIN. Nice job painting yourself in a corner there Don.

Not sure you can see beyond the red in your eyes but I hate to tell you it is about the money for Kawasaki and Star....Bobby made that clear by telling GB that to send Antsie they would have to pay for it and it appears that they are going to pay the costs to have Antsie....but yeah go ahead and be angry at Haiden if it makes you feel better.....but that won't change anything....did you donate any money to Raiseit4USA?....maybe you can do a bake sale to help the team next year....

So they also won't be riding when it's on US soil with home advantage then, if it's purely down to money..?

For the ppl who buy the surgery thing… you realize he is not injured right? This is not him going to get a broken wrist plated as soon as possible so he has as much time as possible to heal and prepare before a1. No, this is them choosing to take out a plate in his wrist (for his wrist that he totally did not break before the mx season *wink *wink) because it is totally healed now so he doesnt need the plate anymore. He doesnt have to take it out, most ppl leave them in, but getting it out is a super minor procesure. That means hes going to be fine to ride basically immediately after. Hell have the stitches and a couple screw holes in the bone which will cause a little bit of discomfort, but other than that hes completely fine.

If he wanted to go he would have went, the surgery thing is being used as cover. Ppl being annoyed is not “hate” they just have eyes and a brain. They want usa to win mxon and haiden would have gave them the best chance to win and the reason being given is a lie so ppl are calling it out. Ppl always say how “rad” it is that deegs tells it like it is, but fans cant tell it like it is? They should have just been honest about his wrist when it happened then and they should be honest now about why theyre not going. Then nobody would be able to say anything. When you lie ppl will call it out thats how the world works.

Hardware left over from a surgery can cause damage that gets worse with time, I speak from personal experience. I believe him when he says his doc told him his condition will degenerate until he has the hardware removed.

That being said, I also believe he could have the surgery done after the MXdN and still have plenty of time to prepare for SX.

Agreed....He would be going if the AMA and Team USA raised enough money to pay 100% of the costs...the internal politics that are part of team USA for this event are ridiculous...Kitchen/Kawi should pay some money to Deegan/Star for taking the heat off of them....

True…but the removal of the hardware does not really take much recovery time.  Also speaking from experience.  A little soreness and slight swelling…and some stitches. All felt completely better in a few days …and then no restrictions or limits

Are you saying Deegan didn’t go because of money?

I thought he choose the elective surgery to have pins removed?

Yes though, the current funding plan is moronic and needs to be overhauled.

People are mad because of the hypocrisy and its likely they have been pandered to. Deegan is in a unique position because has consistently chosen to portray himself as the American rider. He alone made that choice.

The wrist is certainly suspicious. Hardware removal is minor, the timing doesn't make sense and the topic a convenient excuse to use for someone who does not want to go. Its public relations suicide to admit you don't want to go so a cover is needed for any rider in that position.

Pandering is one thing in itself. But America is very unique in that patriotism is taken very very seriously in every facet. Its not about the motorcycles and you can't write it off because "it doesn't affect ones day".

Where is the hypocrisy in holding up an American flag on the podium and declining the MXoN to have a medical procedure done to be ready for the 2025 season? It seems to me that having his pins taken out in time to prepare fir the 2025 season is exculpatory in regards to his oobligations to attend the MXoN.

Your suspicions are one thing, but to then turn around and come to a conclusion based on those assumptions is another.  Deegan is almost certainly seeing a specialist, and unless you are privy to the extent of his injury, trained in what is the best course of action for that injury, and all the other variables, then you are drawing conclusions that are, to use your own word, suspicious.

I didn't say that...not even close....I said if the money was there to cover the costs these teams would be more willing to allow their riders to go...how do you know that Star would go if Deegan wanted to?? You got some inside info? First you're a Doctor that knows all about Deegans injury and now you're part of Star and have inside info on what they would do....damn near royalty...

It's funny how someone having common sense and the ability to reason is otherworldly to you 🤣

Star has sent racers to MXoN in the past. They were also clearly willing to send Eli this year. If they weren't then the selection committee wouldn't have waited for Eli's return to make their decision. The ability to reason that out does not make anyone royalty, lol

Star has sent racers to MXoN in the past. They were also clearly willing to send Eli this year. If they weren't then the selection committee wouldn't have waited for Eli's return to make their decision. The ability to reason that out does not make anyone royalty, lol

So has Kawasaki....but Star didn't last year and didn't this year and are holding Team GB to a ransome to send Antsie...Star is not footing the bill if Max goes. So you know for a fact that Star was willing to send Eli? What you do know is that Team USA was waiting to see how he'd do but Star never said that they would or wouldn't support it....I'm still waiting for the same uproar about Kitchen and Kawi not going as Levi won the 3 of the last 4 nationals and was 2nd in points to Deegan until his mishap in the last moto of the year. He was better than Chance for the majority of the year and was ahead of him in points he was clearly the 2nd choice and 2nd best....but yet here we are....common sense and jumping to conclusions are two completely different things....and you my friend are confusing the two.

Star didn't send anyone last year because Tomac was hurt and Deegan backed out, just like he's doing this year.

If Star was never going to send anyone this year then they wouldn't have waited for Tomac's return to announce the team. The selection committee is literally made up of team managers...

We all know why Levi isn't going and Kawasaki has been shit on for years because of how they approach MXoN. The difference is Kitchen isn't lying about why he cant go and his team isn't even giving him the option. He didn't use patriotism as a marketing tool all summer only to refuse going when given the opportunity, which he wasn't even given

It's not that hard to apply logic to understand any of this and you are perfectly capable of doing so if you weren't so busy sucking Deegan's dick at every turn

Please name everyone in this thread who is trying to "cancel" Deegan...

The point is if somebody doesn't behave exactly as we wish or the way we think they should, in today's world they are shit.Nobody bothers to enter a fraction of looking at anothers perspective, point of view, or direction.

Deegan has the freedom to say and do as he pleases and...

Sorry, I see things in a different light friend. I am more of a paddle your own canoe, or you do you school of thought. Kid has his reasons, seems fine to me. He owes us nothing, his displays on the track are enough. Lot of the greats have foregone the DesNations before, many will in the future too. The sport is a grind and a long season.

Man, what would Vital have to talk about if Deegan wasn’t everyone’s obsession?

Just listened to the delayed Pulp podcast. Sexton didn't name names, when he said anybody that turns down the MXdN should not be allowed to race next year. That sounds like the most extreme of haters, but since it is coming from the 2024 450MX champion is that a reasonable point of view now? It sounds like Sexton doesn't buy any of the surgery or team restrictions from someone - not naming names of course.

True…but the removal of the hardware does not really take much recovery time.  Also speaking from experience.  A little soreness and slight swelling…and some stitches. All felt completely better in a few days …and then no restrictions or limits

That is assuming it goes perfect.  When I had the screws removed from my femur, they stripped the heads and literally had to go to a hardware store and get an EZ Out and hammer away to get them out, I hurt worse after that then getting the pins and screws in when I broke it.  And the screws in my leg, were supposed to be permanent, but as GrapeApe mentioned, leaving the hardware in is not generally a good thing so if there is any indication it needs to come out, do it when you have the down time, which is immediately after SMX.

There is no harm in having a safety net of time having any surgery, or hardware removal.  If my career was a 10 year window, I would be doing every damn thing I could to ensure week 1 of January, I am 100%, every time.  Sure it may be a simple pin removal, but there is no guarantees it will go perfectly, or as planned.  I am not being argumentative, I just don't blame them for trying get as much time as they can for this, better safe than sorry.

This thread compared to the MXdN team selection is proof positive Daniel Blair is right with respect to "drama".  The Deegan family is all about the drama.  I respect Haiden for his riding ability, but I hate drama.  I go out of my way to avoid drama.  I think not having Haiden on the MXdN team is a good thing because of all the drama that goes with it - and drama in this instance (MXdN) is not a good thing.  Drama is a distraction for a team sport.  If the Deegan family benefits from the drama here in the US, then so be it.  But the last thing needed in a team event like MXdN is drama, which is a distraction from the task at hand - winning.  The team needs to be focused and not have self-serving agendas.  No Deegan at MXdN is a blessing in my mind.  Chance at times was as fast or faster than Deegan this year.  Chance will work his ass off.  Chance won't be a distraction for the team.
