Anyone know what Oldenberg’s gonna do for SMX? He’s qualified and seemed to split with MCR.

Only saw his Instagram riding a Kawasaki for Rick Ware Racing for the WSX. He didn't qualify for the SMX Playoffs / Championship, but could do last chance qualifier for it. Unsure of what he'll be doing in 2025 SX / MX / SMX.

I heard a rumor that Anthony Bourdon will remain at Bar X Yamaha (formerly Suzuki) for 2025 (250 SX only). Not sure on if Max Miller, Preston Buespflug or Dilan Schwartz will return for next year. It'll be interesting to see how Triumph will do with Forkner, Swoll, Smith and Roberson next season then Savatgy if he stays!

What about Romano and Bennick, do they stay for 2025? Bennick has a contract for 25 but with the lack of results all summer i would not be surprised if Star want to move on from him and Romano.

I think it was confirmed that Star’s 250 roster will be:

Deegan, Mosiman, Brown, Bennick, Anstie, Thrasher

Bennick qqualified 19th at Ironman bUT did not line up for either moto.

Why?

Any word if Mumford will race the playoffs through the LCQ ? Or are they waiting to ride WSX series ?

I thought he was racing a couple of outdoors for Firepower, Wilson will be racing so it should be Mumford as well.

Obviously a few people in here who like riders staying in the 250 class forever.  Development class?  Nah, not for you guys.

Think he went 36-DNS. Must been banged up as he qualified 36th as well.

Development class? The top guys make mid-six to low-seven figures. Name another industry that has starting salaries that high. They're professional athletes, no such thing as "development class" at that level.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 250 (125) class definitely started as a development class and is still supposed to be one.  The problem is the incentive structure is all wrong.  You have riders getting six figures to hang out forever in the 250 class who wouldn't get on top level teams in the 450 class.  It they move they know they'll barely see the top 10 again and will be on much reduced salaries. See McElrath, Nichols etc.

It's this level of rider - and I'd put Hampshire in there - who have little incentive, unless they point out, to move.

Other teams need fill in riders to keep sponsors happy, if one of Bobby’s riders isn’t up to his par he’ll just bench them himself🤣🤣🤣🤣

It is undoubtedly trending older as time goes on.

It may have started as a development class, at least in SX, but it’s a full-blown pro class now. Futures and the Moto Combine are development classes.

Seems like they've realised that for every Deegan there are 10 other kids who just don't make it for one reason or another, hence signing Anstie (and Mosiman/Brown to a degree).

125/250 sx was started as a development class. 125/250 outdoors has always been a national class not a developmental class

If that is true, what a way to give your rider the confidence he needs..

It’s only a hit to the confidence if you don’t learn anything from it. I’m pretty sure Bobby Hewitt benched Jason Anderson back in the day, and he’s had a pretty decent career.
