On the pulp show phil alluded to ironman bringing back a part of the track they took away the last few years, does anyone know if this means the badass uphill triple is coming back? That was probably one of the sickest jumps on the entire circuit and it sucked to see it go. Hopefully thats what he meant, anyone know?
Standing up top...watching those guys drop out of the sky was mind blowing.
no i think it's a new section after the start. they ran it on press day last year but decided not to run it for the race day.
Damnit! Bring back the triple!!!
These are the same people that think 10 whoops is the breaking point. Don't get your hopes up boys.

Yeah but no they're not.....
Not literally, but the sport seems to be headed in that direction anyway. How dare we separate the guys.
Back in 2019, the track owners (Shaver) were told by NBC that they needed to shorten the lap times a bit and the Shavers decided that was the best area to change to both shorten the lap times while also opening up more areas for the fans to get a better view from. I remember that while that jump was a fan favorite, there were a lot of complaints about poor viewing and how condensed the crowd felt when it was that layout. Here’s an excerpt from an interview with the track owners when they got rid of it:
“We needed to shorten the track and it was decided to take out the triple jump,” Sam Shaver said. “When we got a lot of rain some of the riders had trouble clearing the jump. We added another jump along the track and everything looks to be in good shape.”
Shaver said the change in the track’s course will make the spectators’ experience better. With the reconfiguration, the track has more prime fan viewing areas.
“The change is really going to be better for the spectators,” Shaver said. “The fans are going to be able to get up closer to the track for a better view of the race.

The new section is in the woods before the Godzilla jumps. They did a test run at press day last year to get feedback on how to make it better for this year’s race. I personally don’t mind an ever evolving track!
Perfectly reasonable and logical reason! Thanks for the insight.
Why doesn’t it go to YouTube when I press watch on YouTube?
Click the title, that should do it, after the ad plays.
Thanks for that, but I was trying to avoid the ad.
One of THE most irritating things on Vital. First world problem, yes, but annoying nonetheless
Never been to Washugal (it's on the list) but Ironman is really spectator friendly. Giant shady trees for the wife and kids while pshycho dad stands at the fence, yelling lIke an idiot, frying lIke bacon.
Seriously, there's shade almost everywhere.
Agreed
Unavoidable on this website.
Is Deegan or anyone else going to do that massive huck he was doing last year?
Edit: Or will they move it out to make it undoable?
For sure! That’s why whenever I post a YouTube video, I go through the hassle of adding the actual link as well as the embedded video like this:
Direct link: https://youtu.be/1XEjv7r-ttc?si=0QOqcCsdggrRUVQI
Because I know how annoying it is, especially if you pay for YouTube premium!
I remember a few years ago, Deano was doing some weird prejump thing over a small valley right before the finish line during practice. It was pretty creative. They ended up changing it before the motos so he couldn't do it any longer.
Pit Row
For rreal. I made a 13hr trip to IIronman aND they didmt even have the triple aanymore. Im not fixing my posts aanymore. Fix the damn website
It would be sick if he does it again. And he would be the only one to do it i think. When Marv was on gypsy tales, they talked about that and how 450 guys talked about it but no one did it until haiden, some details may be wrong.
The original layout of 2014 was my favorite. The track seems condensed now and the viewing isn't really any better. They definitely brought lap times way down, though.
I think the biggest thing is that there is just more viewing area in general. The Ironman crowd grew fast; there is no shot the 2014 layout/facility could accommodate a 2025 MXoN crowd. They've done A LOT of off track changes as well as the facility grows. Haven't been there in a few years now but excited to see the place and what they do to it next summer!
If they really wanted to improve the viewing for the fans, they could make it a flat dirt oval.🥱
Maybe some things aren't worth the tradeoff?🤔
The one nice thing about Ironman is that it is the easiest to get in and out of compared to all the other tracks on the circuit. Relative them hosting the 2025 MX of Nations, I know they already had heavy equipment on site back in May - working on the parking area based on an FIM request. I am interested what other changes they will make before this mega event. If they have a crowd similar to the last Redbud MXON I just don't know how they can provide a decent viewing area.
I also noticed there is more local advertising about this weekend's race than in past years.
The October Ironman GNCC race is a best kept secret; i.e., the largest dirt bike race in America. Very festive and arguably more entertaining than even the MX event.
I wonder if they move the national date up to like June or July since the final round will be so close to MXoN....
I keep wishing that Ironman would be a round sooner in the calendar to be more relevant. The track is too good to be the last round IMO
I wonder if the GNCC would pull in more spectators than the MXON would. The GNCC is just a party for all us indiana locals (theres a lot, i live 25 minutes from the track, and a lot of the farm boy crowd goes to drink beer, party, and stand at the hill. not really core fans that just show up for one event. Hell a majority just think its a one done event, and dont even know about the whole GNCC series around here.)
Sounds like how the Coombs got their start with the Blackwater 100 and look where they are now. At one time they had half the state of WV wading in waist-deep mud to pull bikes up a hill and now they're the Moto Mafia.
Just goes to show what you can do if you put your mind to it, so maybe the Ironman GNCC guys can go rogue and start their own empire.
Keep in mind the Blackwater was free to see as it was part of a festival if Davis WV
The "Ironman GNCC guys" are the Coombs and Jeff Russell (husband of Carrie Coombs-Russell).
