After a long and prestigious career, Brett Metcalfe will compete in his last race as a full time pro at the final round of the Aussie MX championship this weekend.
Imo the fastest guy to never win a race in AMA. Probably not how he’d like to be remembered!
Let’s see your best Metty photos.

I thought he won Southwick in 2010 or so
The key thing is "his last race as a full time Pro".
Somehow, I doubt that he won't be at a few races, in the years to come. Well, I hope so.
A good man, and, from what I gathered at the time, his wife (and others) did a heck of a lot in making our team, look like a Team at the Saint Jean De Angely MXdN, years ago, when The Powers that Be, at that time, didn't give a flying f**k about things.
He won Southwick 2011!!! Legendary comeback after he had run out of gas one year while on his way to victory there
Correct he did win the round, but via a 3-2 which is why I said never won a race.

Loved Metty. He was a beast on those PC/FC 250f’s
Can’t forget that YOT YZ125 though! Was always a Metty fan!
I’ll argue this with you till the end of time haha. He won the southwick national!! Did he cross the finish line first? No….
But I am still gonna fight you on this one. This is a good bar argument lol
Has an overall race win, but no individual moto wins. Argument over, lol!
I can accept that!
Happy to argue, especially over a beer, but by “race” I mean a National moto or a SX main, i.e. an individual race. I don’t think that’s hard to understand?
The Southwick overall was great and I’m glad he finally got one after being so close previously.
One badass guy. Hell of a career.
Oh I fully understand your argument. I’m getting closer to agreeing…
Looks like a picture of future Michael Lindsey
Maybe motos are races, and the entire weekend an event? Another confusing element for the non-fan…
“Who won the race?”
“Metcalf”
“But he didn’t win a race?”
“Exactly”
That race was the same one where dungey’s bike wouldn’t start in second moto. He finally got on the track almost a lap down just before leaders came around and finished 7th I think? Maybe even overall podium. Would have to look at the vault.
Lol...I had the same thought.
Pit Row
I remember him riding this 125 wayyy past the time when all the teams switched to 4T's...
Naw, don't cave. Say he didn't win a moto but he definitely won a race
Between Makita Zooks and FC Honda, he was on some of the best looking bikes ever. He gets forgotten but he had a ccareer we could oonly dream of
Ran into him at a track in Nebraska a long time ago when he was riding for FC Honda. Nice guy. Just watched an Aussie pro race this morning on YT. He was running top 5, which is pretty insane.
😂 also happy to keep it going if you like.
I guess it’s just semantics and depends on what term you’re used to using. But to me a race is an individual gate drop to the checkered flag. E.g. last weekend, Hunter won the first race, Sexton won the second race, as well as the overall, round or National, whatever you’d like to call it, but it seems weird to call the combined result of two races, a race win.
I'd argue, (while having a beer with you guys) that an overall win is what matters most. Trophies are handed out for overall wins, not moto wins.
Oh I agree with that, but it’s your shout 🍻
That is a pretty cool picture, Metty just coming over to Bercy with nothing lending a bike from (I will guess on the suspension) Champ KTM and use also VRS (Van de Ven Racing Suspension) all unknowns and just race that Supercross. Now these days even young kids want there own suspension coming with them. As European I still think it's pity that he didn't stay for a year in Europe like his fellow countryman Chad Reed or even a little longer like the late Andrew McFarlane. Damn those three where quite a generation and all the talent that stayed in Australia to come to USA "occasionally" wasn't bad either like the Marmont & Moss brothers.
He never won a moto but he did all he could at southwick 2010 when he ran out of gas, I was standing right near the fence as he thought about actually trying to push the bike through the last couple section before reality set it and you could just feel his heart break. The moto gods owed him one and that 3-2 for the overall win the next year was the perfect payback.
It was pretty cool when he won Southwick in 2011, His Dad was there to see him win, He was a proud dad.
