Something I recently learned is how uniquely American our standard local moto day setup is
Props on the B's Moto lab sticker. Even though we're at different dealerships, B is still one of my buds. With all of the time you've been at Jeeps lately, I'm surprised I haven't ran into you yet.
Try to stay focused.

What a kook.
Cascadia,s made in Mexico piles of garbage. 152k & the inlet & out knock sensors r out. PDF filters & 2 injectors. Shocks all blown along with the seat, steer spring bushings washed out, trans is junk. It want to regen at 10 % pdf filter filled according to the computer. It’s a mil times more violent than Jack hammering. Who ever bought this doesn’t know there disposable trucks, 10k of hard work then drive them into a hole. Since Mon it’s been freezing in Wi., Ia. Mn. International falls lastnight with wind chill it was in the 30,s. Bur too cold for me to think about riding. Didn’t make beans this yr no one pays anything anymore. I hv 2 hot chics in Ukraine that take turns watching me in the trk. Camera faces me and the rd. I get .5 cpm more for that eww wow. Steers way out of balance it literally shakes the piss out of ya. I stop grab my piss jug and face the camera. And drain the lizard like oh I forgot I had a camera facing me. Haha. I talked to 1 of the girls she is super sweet . Her English isn’t the best once she gets off her trained to say program. I sex up my voice & she giggles alot. There probably streaming it live in Eastern Europe. What we hv to do now to make a 1/4 of what we made yrs ago. Probably on some reality show in Eastern Europe that none of us could pronounce. It would be great if we had big #,s of vet experts at local or regional races. I look at it like everyone puts there money on the table the race fee. Then I put my hand ovr the money & say I,m taking all the dough, or try too. A rider could make more in 1 race in 98 than a season now .
Spot on.
The people that could afford the 100k motorhomes are going to show up and keep going when things take downturns. The issue is the lower and mid income classes.
A good example is the cycling industry. It is in an absolute shithole at the moment because the middle class and working class are struggling = the high volume entry level and mid tier segment is dead. The top of the line 10-15k bikes are still selling like crazy because the people that have high incomes are still in a relatively speaking good situation. They will keep spending, maybe even increase it.
Chk out the Mahans on YT....They are doing it. Great content too.
How do u stop a changing ryno? With drugs of course Easy question. He will stop for drugs guaranteed !!
I participated in the very first National Am Series (1975). The above pictures were totally normal. Everyone got to the races without purchasing a $100 plus motor home. MX is still a bargain compared to any form of auto racing. Even recent Indy 500 champions had to pay for their rides....
This is accurate and it's not the sport of motocross' fault or the any other "hobby". It's the demand for "living wage" regardless of skill level which drives the cost of everything through the roof and then adds to even medical costs, insurance, and the list goes on an on. The only wages that have kept up are those of the bottom level positions.......and those individuals also have even LESS income because everything they buy is also more expensive outweighing the "increase" they received.
Recession incoming people. Buckle up.
Some good replies in here. This is my take and it may be unpopular. When looking at the path to be a pro moto rider, it's not the best career choice. The amount of sacrifice, money, time training etc is crazy. And there are very few spots at the top where you have any security and are able to be a star (making big money etc.) And Lorettas is sort of the assumed path to get to that level. So I don't really think that race is a great meter for if the sport is too expensive or not. That race should be ones who are willing to make that sacrifice or have the money for the big rigs and everything needed to be competitive there. That doesn't represent most of the MX community. Most of us can still go buy a stock 450 and take our Tacomas to a local track to race for cheap. Most are doing it for fun, not to make a career out of it. I just think LL always becomes a big topic because of the Factories involved and the way most people show up in Totes and whatnot. But if you want to race on more of a budget and are just racing for fun, nothing that happens at LL, is keeping you from doing that. Things cost more and budgets are tighter for some people, so if that's the case, don't worry about LL and just race what you can afford to do. I still think at the local level there is enough competition for all levels, some good money races for fast guys and you can do it on a budget and still go about your own career path without sacrificing much. Just my opinion.
Sweet! And you even have a properly stroked racing machine in there as well!! #2strokeMafia
After having vans for the last 30 years, I had to use my tundra some this summer… what a pita loading the bike, and its not even lifted… I always feel like i am forgetting something when I take my truck…Ryno still working for Forkner? Most people that hear you race Mx think we are crazy…. I just have them listen to Ryno, then they know we are crazy….
I agree on the truck bed thing, I stopped loading in a truck bed about a year ago after I stepped through my ramp unloading the bike and tore all skin off my left shin to the bone. Burn more gas or not I take my 5x8 enclosed if I go ride now, easy in easy out. I've got somewhere private to dress and sit down, all my stuff is secure if I stop for fuel/hotel. No more truck bed for me.
Only recent MX related scar i have now is on my right kneed. Unloading my bike from F250 bed on my ramp. Fkn ramp fell off the tail gate with front tire still on the bed. Foot peg ripped thru my pants and ripped my knee to shit. Wasnt even going riding that day. Total BS!
We never had memberships, so I won't comment on that.
We never charged for camping, motorhome or otherwise. (No hook-ups available)
If you don't charge for practice, people will just come and get free track time, and not come back Sunday. Same with fees for spectators. They won't watch practice free Friday-Saturday then come pay for watching the race on Sunday.
So, I don't see that as out of line for a big race weekend.
Recession has been here since 2021. I go to every. City , I hear the same thing everywhere. I work 2 full time jobs and I can’t survive. It’s by far the worst thd cougars ever been. Next pres will inherit the real st of the economy. By aprox may it blows up. Unless your everywhere you don’t see or here it from people. A couple women in Indiana where extremely upset . That the military is physically removing America women with there children from there housing. To give it to illegals . There blown away saying how can this b happening in America. If I where a young guy wanting to b a pro. I would travel and race the pro ams. The tracks do the best they can to put on a great show and help a rider survive. 1,100 LL sign up pays for a season of pro ams . But you would hv to live in your van. My DBP likes a classic flared out super g20 Chevy van. Only problem 4 me is I would b back in 20th of 28. Only do to the dns 2nd moto. There is no payout past 12th I think.

Pit Row
I’m into mountain bikes now days and now that’s a rip off. So much less tech and materials yet cost so much. A top of the line bike that has no motor 4-8g. Dumb.
E-bikes add about 2g for that motor you still have to pedal to use.
But again you can buy cheaper ones.
So to me motorcycles don’t cost that much considering everything that comes on.
most out of touch person on this forum. That is the point. This sport is becoming very exclusive. Only people who can afford to do anything can afford to ride mx. The days of a working class family taking two sons to the track every weekend are coming to a swift end.
Loretta's will always be full. The fact that it was full of toters and RV's is a bad thing. It reveals the changing demographic. I would be happy if it was full of pickups and box trailers with air conditioners on top.
Don’t stress, the guy who can afford the Toterhome says he doesn’t see a problem with it.
Keep in mind at Loretta's and other week long events a lot of the motor homes you see are rentals. When I was doing the LL's thing we would rent a motor home for the week. I'm sure we looked like ballers but it was no more expensive than a hotel and far more convenient to stay at the track. Back home in Texas our baller rig was a Suburban pulling a flat bed trailer and the cheapest motels we could find.
Great point. Really didn’t think about that. I bet you’re right too. I’d probably rather go for $1,000 tv rental than try to do some crazy hotel shuffle everyday.
Back in '73, my folks hauled me to the races in our '65 Galaxy 500...bike in the trunk. We ate homemade fried chicken out of greasy Piggly Wiggly sacks. I wasn't ashamed or embarrassed. I wasn't iintimidated by the folks with better set-ups. I was there to ride my bIke as fast as i could. Where I finished was ENTIRELY up to me.
At the grass roots level this sport hasn't changed but the attitudes have. You're either a moto junkie or just "into" the scene. 🙃
You are so clever. You must be an A list poster on Vitalmx.
I have a truck and a bike.
The point is, the place is packed…so a lot of people CAN afford it. I guess if the turnout was low, that would support his statement.
I know plenty of working class people that raced it this year, not in a toterhome.
But carry on.
LLs is Bargain, try taking the family to Disney world for a week, We took our boys there back in about 2014 and when it was all set and done it was over 10k.😱
Ahhhh one of the most famous vacation destinations compared to a niche sport in a small town
Always love this comparison
Then why you diss me for my window AC in my enclosed trailer. All I was doing is trying to save money and you had to comment I had a facination with window ACs.
Na man I just had a kid and Im poor. My trailer is fuckin dialed.
That was the year that the dollar fell in the basement against the yen.
Go back and redo your calculations from a few years prior and you will see a big difference, but you knew that,
