In 2004 we talk about 34-35whp on a Dynojet on a stock 250F and about the same on a 125. The first years of 250f’s were often down on peak HP compared to 125’s. But a couple of years in they surpassed the two strokes in HP to and the rest is history.

A factory japanese 125 back then would have been around 38-39whp and the KTM factory 125’s in the 40+hp’s.

We had Yosh race motors in our ‘07 RMZ 250’s and they were pushing 38HP. I think they were able to get 40HP out of them for Ryan Sipes and Andrew McFarlen, but they were really on the edge of imploding

I had a go cart guy (Darcy DeCoste)  https://darcydecosteracing.com/ build a ‘04 KX 125 motor for us and he squeezed like 37 HP out of it, but it was hard to ride for my son, so we ended up on a ‘04 RMZ250.

They were awesome on those bikes. They also rode them everyday. I used to be good on a 125 as well. I’d bet I’d be horrible my first few days back on one now.

Says he hasn’t ridden a 125 since he was 15.  Gets judged by a rando on the internet for not being fluid or smooth…

Current 450 points leader and probable champ who hasnt ridden a 125 since age 15 has a cool video of him shredding a 125 and some dink who probably doesn't ride has to woof some shit....where else but Vital where anonymity promotes shit talk and posturing. Some real good folks and debates at times, but mostly outweighed by bizarre behaviour

Something tells me they didn't build a full factory 125 and test for weeks to film a 20 second social media video but who knows.

They gotta go back to the drawing board because the vital bros said he looked kinda stiff on the bike. 😔

Track prep was way different back then, nothing was as deep as now. Not saying they wouldn’t look great now, but red Bud was practically blue groove, much easier keeping a 125 singing out of the deep stuff

I agree 5-10 years ago it felt like everyone shared the same passion and was here for the same reasons. It’s always been a bit wild here yes, but now it’s increasingly filled with attention-seekers and negativity just for the sake of it, rather than meaningful discussions. It’s not as enjoyable anymore.

The social media formula and why it's tearing societies and political communities to shreds.

1. Algorithm's push and favour content that drives negative emotion.

2. Extreme negative emotion, not rational discussion, causes humans to stay engaged with the content.

3. More engagement = more advertising revenue.

Exactly. Watched a few of the nationals Stewart was taking many different lines. The way they are prepped now its going to be really 1 lined for a 125.

I see the participation trophy generation has weighed in. Only praise is allowed.

My first reaction to seeing the video, was: Cool, but Chase was struggling to come to grips with it, I'm sure he'd smooth out with some laps, but it was obvious, and I would expect that from a guy that hasn't touched one in years... but God forbid anyone should verbalize those thoughts...

You guys complaining about a simple observation are a bunch of fragile fucking pussies.  Nobody said "Chase sucks".

Man, exactly. I've been saying forever that when "likes" and "followers" are the commodity, it is a race to the bottom for the lowest common denominator.

Now, back to Chase on the 125  . . .

My motor builder shoots for about 40HP on our (carb) KTM125s. He can get 42-44 but that's bleeding edge and reliability suffers. I like a 15-hour piston life. My kid rides a 125 pretty good but within 2 sessions on his new 250 4T, he was already faster. They are so much easier to get out of corners, and a small error doesn't kill your momentum.

It's pretty funny to me that no one has factored in Chase' weight, weight and 125's don't mix, of course he's going to look slow and not as smooth as he is on 450.

He would have changed his changed his tone if the bike was green ot the rider had a number 3 on his jersey.

James 125 would be about the same as a stock ktm125 is today. And he opted for a package with less HP than the PC bikes to gain some bottom end instead.

His bike put out 36 or a tiny bit more like 36.4.  A stock Ktm is 38 but has no bottom. A 04 cr125  LL national engine put out 38 . With a stronger & quicker hit than a cr500 built to hill climb. . And has a Super Long and strong mid range. It eats Ktm,s up quite easily. . Larry Ward at 32 yrs old beat Stew on a yz250f stock with a pipe.

That 42+ # is accurate. The kid that lead until thd last 3 corners of the last 125 all star race.he  Lived on the out skirts of Green Bay. I heard his bike was 43 hp .  I wanted a quick and Real strong and long mid into the topend. Peak is38 but it has high torque numbers from a touch of the clutch. Milenium matched plating to a Wossener piston, probably the best. Short shift or let it pull all the way threw. Sickest engine I ever heard.  I kill 4-strokes off of corners   , if there’s traction.  For 100 rpm at the hit the 04 gets 19 ft lbs quicker than you can blink.  Shift twice on that . Time it perfectly on the start & it’s bye bye. A 04 just ripped a start on your 24 haha , what do ya think of that. DBP baby. It can dis lodge your eyes from there eye sockets . Why do ya think Jett is off rt now. The cast on his wrist that’s to cover up his eye socket problem.  That  why Honda stopped making the 04 DBP.  It’s similar to thisIMG 0501 1.jpeg?VersionId=UHIMG 0410

Last Saturday I was at Joliet Mx killing time until I get a trk etc. in between nationals he showed up at sunset ridge near where he grew up . And went riding there. Unannounced he landed in a helicopter at the track.  It’s cool he’s doing fun stuff  like that. It’s Great for the local riders it’s brings a lot of excitement to riding.  IMG 0456 0IMG 0457 0.jpeg?VersionId=ZbfaMEmR34x0cBEEuf5nP0

The vibe at the track is kinda the same. I took ten years off and it changed alot in that time. Im a redneck, its common for me to walk up to people and start broing down like we know each other. It now seems a lot of people at the track don't have people skills, or there are Yankees.

If you park beside me at the track, were broing down like it or not.
