I went back and checked out Moto 1, for both the 2 lap board and the white flag, the flagger displays it as Chase is crossing/passed the finish line, with no chance to see it. The optics of it look terrible for Chase, but ultimately the only flag they displayed correctly was the checkered flag. Without seeing the 2 lap board or the white flag I can see why he would've thought it was the white.

It’s just a further (unintentional) flex on everybody else. Everybody said they were dying yesterday…meanwhile Chase just does some extra mid-day race pace lap workout. I really think some “fans” don’t realize how much his hard work has now put him in a winning position…reguardless of who lines up.

Agreed, granted if he were riding against Jett, Prado, Tiga, Herlings, Febvre is would be harder sledding. But to your point, he's earned what he's got for sure. And to be clear, I'm not saying he couldn't beat those guys, I do believe he could. But it would be vastly more difficult. The separation in the AMA is crazy.

Yea…right now Gajser seems to usually have the field covered….but then you get motos like moto1 this week. They definitely can rotate wins some…but Tiga seems to be the man rn. I just wish MXdN didn’t favor MXGP tracks and rules quite so much. Maybe alternate years for tracks and rules if you want a fair who’s the best comparison.

A one off event is not a good measure of who’s best, in my opinion. Coldenhoff went 1-1 and 1-1 in back to back MXdN’s. And while he’s a great racer, he’s not a FMOTP candidate. And Roczen last year? Or Anstie? I don’t think any of those performances as a stand alone, proved their series was the better of the 2.
Chase addressed it right after Moto 1. Said he swore it was white flag. Go back and watch the replay, the white flag is hanging there until right after Chase passes the last whoop, then gets swapped out for checker. Looked like the flagger didn’t even realize Chase was in front and was waiting to see the nice clean #7 number plate coming through.

Exactly. If Chase's prime didn't exist during the tail end of one of the most decorated riders ever in Tomac and maybe the most talented rider we've ever seen in Jett, he would probably be well on his way to a Dungey or Villopoto-level career. Not saying he can't achieve that, but his title and win totals undersell just how gnarly of a rider he is.
We were at the finish line for moto 1. When AP came across he looked confused because Chase had kept going. There was a WP guy there and they both kinda put there hands up in confusion. Then when the guys behind them started pulling off the track they realized the race was in fact over. It was pretty interesting to see.

I re-watched it too. The flaggers were off a bit.
In the Peacock replay, the 2 lap board was put out at 41:08, and the white flag at 43:30.
On the final lap, the checkered flag was waved on time, but Chase was still looking for the 2 Lap board!
Haha, pretty funny! Not what I expected when I clicked this thread lol.
Didn't Windham lose Washougal one year because he thought the white flag was the checkers and he pulled off a lap early?
Yep! He didn’t pull over though just slowed way down
Didnt rewatch it but think the flagger messed up a little bit

Maybe it’s cause I’m out of shape but I’m always looking for that damn checkers lap 3 into my 5 lap vet moto at shoug. Easy to see that way lol

Didn't Chase address this in a Vital interview maybe a week ago..?

Yes he did, i was just making a joke about it. Nothing more, nothing less lol
Nothing worse than having to explain it was a joke. Most of us got it, i laughed
Well...I don't feel too bad anymore since I did the same thing (missed a finished flag and continued another lap) 30 plus years ago in a 250B class.
You and me both, lol
Any truth to the rumor Chase is petitioning the AMA to return to the 40 min + 2 format?
Pit Row
🤣
Sounds like a Roger move.

I think JA21 is the one that doesn't look up.
Chad move to just keep lapping after crushing the comp. Like pulling all tear offs on the line
Post a reply to: James was right, he doesn't look up
