I thought that was an outstanding job by Speed and all the announcers. I remember last year I could hardly hear the announcers as JS and CR had the battle on the track...not that I was paying attention to the dialogue. Great race coverage and I know that there is lots of people on this forum that like to bitch about everything, but as a fan of motocross...I thought they did a great job. I do agree that Ralph Shaheen has been a bit lame in the past...but I think he is doing a better job recently. I know that Fro and GOAT are past champions on a bike...but they do show that they aren't pro's at color commentating. They do a good job...but I have to say that Ralph is doing a pretty good job at keeping the flow going. Saying that...I think that Fro has come a long way and GOAT is the GOAT. I do miss the voices of Dave Despain and Art Eckmen...but props to Ralph, Fro, GOAT, and Speed for an outstanding job this year!

I'm not gonna bash on Shaheen. There's always going to be a network shill guy in the booth and he does a decent job. I was disapponted with the coverage of the 450 class though. It's nice that they finally are looking for battles back in the pack ... but when they find one, you can't just camp out on it for half the race. You still have to touch base with the top 5 guys, even if it's just for 30 seconds to have the announcers tell you a quick recap on what's going on at the front.

Once again .... they really need to go to school on how the Canucks do their outdoor coverage. The trick is to keep jumping back to the front enough so that you still have a sense of how the race is developing, while still searching out battles back in the pack.

I, like most of you, used to hate listening to Sheheen but when Stewart isn't racing, I think he does a really good job.

My respect for Emig doing this type of job is pretty high. If I remember right, the guy has a speech problem or a studdering problem from years back. So what I am getting at; is who would of ever thought a kid from the midwest with a speech problem (of any type) would end up on tv talking to millions of people. I find it as a positive. Peace and safety to all out there.

I agree. Having Fro and Slick Rick in the booth, really getting technical with their endless knowledge of all things motocross, was the hi-light for me. Talking about suspension and various other things, made it very interesting. Shaheen even held his own as well. And minus the sumo race and a few other things, I thought all of the interviews and features were actually pretty cool.

Good job SPEED.

Wow! When I read the caption I thought, here we go, another negative post. I think it was a great show and don't forget about Erin. She did a great job also.

You guys hit the nail. I couldn't have said it better, just that I agree.

sec114, it is "stuttering". "studdering" is how I attempt a section of whoops.Grin

...and yes, you are correct about Fro.

Thank you, I am trying. At least I am not "texting" my comments like I did in the past. I think Guy and Bobby jumped me pretty hard and got me on the straight and narrow with that one.

Anybody catch Ralph's "BAR-to-BAR!!!" comment when Hansen and Wilson were going at it on the last lap?

...and another "bar-to-bar" when Windham passed Milsaps!! Must've been watching Art's old tapes during pre-race!

I believe "studdering" is the problem Tiger Woods was having.

Once the racing started, they seemed to do ok. Love it when RC and Fro talk about the sport in ways that only guys like them can as JW381 said.

But, at the start of the show, when RC had the mic was trying to follow a script it was pretty bad. He's great off the cuff in the booth, but, not so much reading a card.

I am just going to take a guess that color commentating is probably harder than it may seem. Take note of the TWMX site where riders interview other riders. Those are usually entertaining because of how sometimes bad they are. And the riders are usually interviewing people on their OWN TEAM, and still have a problem coming up with stuff to ask or say! haha!! What I am getting at, is that week in and week out it must be hard to come up with brilliant and insightful stuff to talk about.

I think Shaheen is doing a good job even though he'll have a mishap hear and there. Either way, he's alot better than Cameron Steel and Tes Sewell when they use to do it back in the ESPN days.

Oh yeah, the Canadians are so great at television. Give me a break. I'll take Speed anytime. The Canucks don't do live tv for motocross. When you have the time to tweak it up, it should be good. But they don't hold a candle to Speed, sorry.
