Just had what is most likely my final scope before I have to get a total knee. Less than 50% meniscus remaining and removed a bunch of arthritis. All complicated by hardware from a previous injury.
Curious if anyone out there has had knee replacement surgery and still rides? How does it feel?
Also curious if anyone has tried Stem Cells or other to try and regrow cartilage? I had some good luck with PRP when I was in New Hampshire but haven’t found anywhere in Utah that does it.

You might want to blur your information or crop it out.
Thanks! Uploaded the wrong one
My pops had one knee done in 2020 and the other in 2021. Still rides and says he’s knees are better now than they have been in 25+ years. He was back on a bike in 3 months after both replacements.
I had reconstructive surgery in 1997, TKR in 2022 after 18 years in the Army. Do physical therapy, recovery is different for everyone. I rebuilt a 2007 Honda CRF 250R as my goal to get back to riding. I still have hip and muscle pain, I'm 46 years old. Recovery is different for everyone.

PRP didn't help with my knee, it helped a little with a partially torn rotator cuff tear. I'm getting PRP in the shoulder again in September.
Have a buddy that runs AME grips. Both TKR's and motos with the best of them. You can find him at most Saturday at the Glen races.
8 months out from total, started putting around 2 months ago, just to ride. My knee joint felt fine, my hamstring and it band, sucked, hurt to just find the foot peg and shift. Just had to see where I was at. Spent time the the gym, feeling much better, today rode Mt new fc350, felt great, hit some big step ups wad not afraid to corner etc...Im 61, painfully slow, but um back riding again and happy.
Good luck with whatever you do!
Dam! That hardware is serious….I”m putting off TKR on my right knee for now, I feel the pain is manageable. Both my knees have been reconstructed for torn ACL”s. Not looking forward to more surgeries. If you decide to have it done, good luck & keep us updated on how it goes….
mine works fine…..
I kid, not me but couldn’t pass it up.
IT band is no joke. It’s more painful than a broken femur. Mine stems from my destroyed back. Hip to where it connects to the knee is flamed up soo bad the last 4 yrs. All the bones in the knee r in pain inside the knee feels like everything is blown out with high pressure inside. I had hundreds of injections only a couple helped. My other knee was reconstructed in 96 it’s fine.
McGrath had his done a few years ago and it doesn’t seem to have stopped him.
I had both replaced.at the same time, two doctors and 90 minutes later I was in recovery. Ouch!! 65 and still riding.
Wow! Two at once. I complained about one. I hope your recovery is good!
175k per knee ? It was 110 k b4 c19 all surgeries went up.
Three years post surgery and doing great. I’m in a long term study for the prosthetic manufacturer and get annual check ups as part of it. Pain is GONE.
Pretty dam close to that 110k number pro125!
My wife works at Yale so max out was 2000k which was one of the reasons I did both at once. Doc said he doesn’t normally do both at once but thought I was a good choice for the study which is monitoring the wear rate and such.
Had total knee replacement 2015, still ride and race. Go into surgery as fit and strong as possible, rehab/ recovery will be easier.
😵💫 😆 🤪 HAHAHA! Although this is a serious/legitimate medical question/thread…
That one made me laugh out loud! 😎 👍❗️
Lmao that’s why I didn’t post mine
