The '78 RM125C was the best 125 that year. Great shot.

Looks like Plymouth '78; He rode 250 KTM in '77. #594 was his AMA number '77/'78. Good pic.

Here is a shot of Danny in the 1982 Carlsbad USGP. Guess he didn't feel the need to have face protection since he was in the lead!

Back then alot of riders liked the cool air across their face when it was hot. It does feel better in the heat with the open face. Just not any protection.

xnationalwrench- I agree with you, "Plymouth is the real HANGTOWN!!!!!" I took this shot of "Radical" Ron Turner taking the holeshot and Don Emler used it for his FMF catalog. Oh yes, I found another shot of Magoo that I need to print.

Magoo was my idol back in the late 70's and early 1980's.....I had pictures of him all over my bedroom. I finally got to see him ride in person at the RedBud National back in 1983 when he was on a factory RC500. Here are a few pics I took that day.....

Larry Maiers, Magoo and his wife Tracey in the RedBud tower

Magoo holeshotting moto 1

Magoo on the gas!

Magoo leading moto 1

Magoo flying!

The view the competition got of Magoo that day!

xnationalwrench- The picture that I took for the FMF catalog was also the cover shot on MODERN CYCLE. All credit going to "Radical" Ron Turner for taking the holeshot in the '77 Hangtown Classic in Plymouth.

The following year Craze and I made the trip up there and here is the official program.

X, were you with Ogden at the St. Petersburg, Florida national in '77 ? Where he got DQ'd for stopping to pick up his mechanic for a ride across the finish line? That was pure bullshit. Outside assistance? Og' kicked ass that day.

I had left FMF by that time and it wasn't me. Gary tried to appeal that ruling but had a bad crash practicing for the Trans-Ama and never followed thru with it.

Ah, try a 1978 "and a half". To be exact, the later 78 model came with a plastic tank, aluminum swing arm, longer travel forks.........................those were the days fer sure.

These are the days too, mind you.

Very cool pics everyone.
