For those who’ve not heard of him, UK rider dabbled in GPs and had a good mxon ride in the past for UK,
He currently just races the UK domestic series and this year Herlings has been at every round and has said he’s hoping to make the entire championship, Mewse has beaten Herlings straight up in a couple of motos so far this year at the UK rounds, one moto Mewse caught and passed Herlings! And they are currently both close in points.

I’m hoping he’s picked for mxon along with Anstie, scratching my head for a 3rd rider though
Conrad is (was) a great rider but could never put it together on the world stage for some reason. Personally I think the team that he was on in 2016 pushed him too quickly into the GP’s.
I went to the British round at Canada Heights and Mewse had nothing for Herlings that day. Either he was having a bad day or Herlings was having a good one.
I hope one day he can get on a team that allows him to race GP’s again but I fear those days are gone.

He grew up away from home and he is over it.
The great Conrad Mewse mystery. Still trying to decide if he should be put on mxdn team or not. History shows no. But hard to not put the best British rider on the team with it being on the homeland.
Thanks for that info. We get to watch him every month here in Scotland. Cracking rider and a really nice guy.

It's super unfortunate his career was basically rushed. If he had a bit more time to develop and then go to MXGP he would definitely be a champion. It's clear he has the speed and talent to be one of the best riders in the world. Hopefully he gives it another go and bring his UK speed to the world stage.
What about coming to Canada?
I was at Valkenswaard when he went 1-1 in EMX250 to kick the season off, beating the likes of Hunter Lawrence and Thomas Kier Olsen. His career hasn't reflected the talent he has, but it has to be sweet mixing it with Herlings this year, albeit on home soil.
What happened to Olsen ? I don’t see him at the GP”s .
Had a very bad crash. Broke his C1 Vertebrae and was put into a medically induced coma. Has been on recovery since.
He does still ride but no where near the level he was. Shame because he was a great rider.
Their practice track is about 5 miles from my workshop.
Saw him at Cheddar recently as well, it was impressive as it always is seeing a guy that fast ride past the 'usual' fast guys at the track...
To top it off when he was done for the day he hopped on a bicycle and rode off, presumably home, which is a fair ride from Cheddar.

I don’t know a real lot about the dude, but man his talent is obvious.
Is the US not an option? Would be cool to see him race a few outdoor rounds to see how he stacks up.
Mewse and Anstie are examples of the lack of money in mxgp for the 2nd group of riders after the top 5-ish riders. Add in him doing it for years and you can understand him just staying at home
Would be a great catch for any team to give him a wild card shot.
Conrad is vastly superior to anyone else from Britain who’s given it a shot, damn the guy literally has Herlings speed covered. What more could you want.
He is, nothing bad to be said against the guy , but he was in a long line of guys who were going to be the 'next big thing' and the pressure of that can be suffocating.
Just like Davy Pootjes, who was a year ahead of him , they never took their small bike dominance into the bigger classes.
On his day , he can beat pretty much anyone, but that day was rarely a GP weekend in MX2.
Think picking him for the Nations shouldnt even be a doubt, with Max Anstie and whoever else they can muster.
Yeah i'd have to go with Anstie and Mewse for the team. Third rider, I'd be tempted to put Wilson on it. I'm sure Conrad's team would help with a bike etc etc.

Watson is out with a knee injury.
Natzke is another name to add to that list off that era! Mewse,Natzke and… Prado where all together on the 125 KTM team. Natzke should have won that season but things went differently just like his GP career.
Renaux was also on it that year but missed the last 2 rounds due to injury.
And Brian Hsu.
herlings is racing in England to train and get gatedrops, he has noting to gain besides pride and i bet that the ktm bosses remind him of that every time.....while Mewse is doing exactly what he is paid for by probably the best team in england, i think people are jumping in wrong conclusions by expecting good results from him just because he can run with herlings in the british championship
Did you read the article? Herlings himself said he has speed to be running up front in the gps. Would he be able to bring it when it matters is another question, but the speed is there.
“I wrote him a message on Instagram, I said you can be around 4, 5, 6 in MXGP. This morning I put two really good laps and I’m pretty convinced it would have been top 3 in MXGP and this guy beat me by 0.6! I don’t understand why he doesn’t ride GPs, if he takes the speed he has in England he would be top five.”
He said the same sort of thing a while back on Tommy Searles vlog too. Basically he doesn’t get why Mewse is so fast domestically and can’t put it together for GPs
that is what i was saying, i follow Conrad since he was 85 world champion and noticed that after he got on the 250f he got hurt and never got to the level he had before....whatever happened with him, or around him, he was never capable of putting it together and only a few years after back at his national championship he was able to show some of the talent he was born with and now he has a good contract with the local honda team and he is doing quite well...... still i think he hasnt got over whatever issue olds him back when he races internationally against the best........i also know what Herlings said, but he had to say it, Conrad was running his pace, and it is kind of true, still if Herlings was racing for his job, he would find a couple or more second easy, just like Conrad is to run Herlings pace......i hope i am wrong and he can turn it around and have a great mxdn at home.....
Herlings has now entered the 4th round of the British Championship next month so we will find out more just how good Conrad is.A fair chance he will end up contesting the full series now.
If this Mewse shows up at MXDN, Anstie on a Star 250 and Gilbert staying healthy and gaining confidence over the rest off the MXGP campaign you British could have a hell of a MXDN on home turf!!
I think people forget he’s done gps and not performed , I like him he’s a great rider but I don’t think he’s anywhere near a top 10 at a gp , as for the same speed as Herlings he’s showing up at these British rounds getting paid 15 k a time and getting some laps in , I was at Canada heights and in moto 2 he turned the screw and absolutely dropped everyone when he needed to you could see he was a cut above.
i hope they do really good, and the fact that they are racing home will boost their performance and not block any of them......still my doubt about Mewse and Gilbert comes from the fact that for a long time the only top racer from great britain that made it big growing there was Searle, Anstie and Wilson moved still very young to america
the british championship is one of the european nationals with less big names from mxgp racing it, just last year Harri Kullas was still winning races over those 2, and if you look at the top youth racers, they are not at top level in the Emx series and Mx2, last top one was Mewse....
i dont know why "things" are a bit different in Great Britain, then in most other european countries, but results show it ....
i can see Anstie having a great Mxdn, but i feel he his missing one experienced and fast team mate, so that they could only expect one good race from Mewse.....
