Weege has carried the broadcast for a long time now, I don't know anyone else who could do it as good as him. We are very lucky to have him in our sport.

There was one time, in the history of the sport, where the race commentator rose above the average and showed superior, next level enthusiasm.... "TEAMMATE TO THE LAWRENCE BROTHERS!!!"

But we cannot expect Weege to maintain such a level.  It would be unfair if we did.  Weege does awesome for real though!

Did he call the race in 2011? Because he doesn’t call the race in 2024… was this always the case?

It’s hilarious how they now actually broadcast an audio only version of the broadcast when there’s no change you could follow what’s happening in a race…

CALL THE DAMN RACE!!

His style is perfect for MX broadcasts but I think he needs some more time adjusting to the SX style

Jason is amazing. Lewis Phillips is really good at media as well. He's my favorite moto journalist

Weege was calling SX live on internet broadcasts well before he got the chance to do Tv. I think he knows a little.

He does, it wasn’t a bash on him, he is really good at what he does. I just think the long form MX motos play more to his strengths. His SX broadcasts are still really good

He is great, the best actually. But it would also be great if he didn’t scream “He almost crashed!!” When someone lets it hang out for a minute, or when someone has the smallest bobble (as Ralph would say)

Weege knows so much about the sport: past, present, and future and I think that's one of the reasons he's better than others. He told a story about helping an Xgames broadcast where he wrote notes on note cards and kept handing them to the commentators to talk about during the motox races

I think Weege is the best to do it on the AMA side, but I have to tip my hat to Paul Malin. Saying that, I think where Paul is better than Weege comes down to the restrictions that the broadcasters put on Weege. Seems like Paul has more of a free reign on what he can say whereas Weege has more pressure to keep sponsors happy.

Weege is a class act, from TV commentary, Weege show and Pulp review etc

I really enjoy his work.

Paul doing a better job than Weege has nothing to do with restrictions. Weege still say the thing, just that he is usual a couple of laps to late.

Paul Mailan is the best in the business and it’s not even close!! One man all by himself that knows the sport and history very well that simply just calls the race period!! Zero filler!!

been listen to Jason Weigandt for right at 20 years. pretty sure it was 2004 when I first heard he and Jim Holley, which to this day was one of the most fun ways to experience a race. it was like baseball in the 1940's over the radio. something to be said for listening to the event only. anyway. Jason was excellent from the start and has remained so ever since. we're very lucky to have him.

He is the King of Call because he never allowed himself to get sucked all the way in to the corporate bunghole and still manages to keep it semi real.

But he doesn’t actually CALL the race…

Just imagine if they called any other sort like they do motocross, it would be the laughing stock of the sports world. Imagine NFL commentating like MX commentating, they would talk about the life story of the quarterback for 5 minutes after he’s passed the ball and they’ve missed tackles and distance made and blah blah blah to say ‘he probably feels like this because that’s how I felt’… ok… cool. Take a note and tell us in your analysis after the race not interrupting the action to talk shit.

Weege is a podcaster and talks about the race with a bunch of podcasts guests rather than actually calling the race.

The webcast plus live lap times was a blast!

Also, Weege was a karaoke master. Does anyone have the video of him singing Take On Me? LegendaryWink

I'm surprised I never see anyone mention a guy who used to be on the internet audio "broadcasts" and seemed like a total natural at it; very much reminded me of David Bailey for a number of reasons - Kevin Windham.

Was a pleasure to listen to and I'd love too see him give it a go these days.

KW, if you're there, tell Dottie you need to run to the store for a few things next Saturday and not sure when you'll be back.Grinning
