Deegans Instagram posting clips of him and Daxton practicing at Southwick. Goes to show how competitive they are. Wondering if any other teams will start following this pattern.

Is Bennick injured?   I expected him to be doing much better after watching how fast he was a few years ago.  Either injured or maybe just not riding up to his level right now.

Smart. Wasn’t Southwick Deegan’s worst race last year?

If they haven't figured it out yet it's already too late🤷‍♂️ the teams should be taking all the possibilities to ride the tracks on the off weekends crazy that they don't!

Matthes just reported that Anstie is there as well, and is racing for Star now.

Is there a rule about riding a track before a National? You would think more teams would do this .

Judging by his performance there last year, he needs it?

Pretty sure a round or two of golf or 3-4 hours on the lake isn’t the difference between winning and losing at the pro level but what do I know

Yes if I remember correctly when my kid was doing it I think it was 7 days most tracks closed the weekend before to prepare

I thought the rule was riding 1 week before the national at a track? Not 2 weeks before the race.

It’s just the mental part of the game. As long as a rider has done what he feels he need to do to be competitive it’s enough.

The problem is when the rider start’s to doubt that what he has done is not enough.

A rider can benefit from taking a brake and have a normal day as long as he belive in it. With the amount of time the riders put on a bike each year, 1-2 hours less or more won’t make a difference.

It’s not just about the rider.

Probably some pretty valuable bike testing going on in those sessions at that track as well to be best prepared for the 29th.

About 15ish years ago most of the teams would be there week before getting seat time..in fact NESC used to have a pre National National wkd before.

100% agree. More than the riding, I think that for Deegan, it’s about gaining a mental advantage and some confidence at a track he doesn’t gel with.

If they're working, or travelling for work, at the weekend, when else are they gonna have a day off?

All work and no play works for some but probably not all.

Those were some epic years! They would bump the pro class from 20+2 to 30+2. Most rode both classes 125/250, 4 f’n moto’s. Talk about fit AF, yeah, team new england.

Kid has Heart and is Driven..... not good for the competition..... seems like lots of riders don't have the drive like Deegan, Stewart, Carmichael, Hannah .... those guys hated to lose.

Yup like you guys said it was common back then the pros would be riding sand tracks all over new england and also the nesc invitational weekend before

Southwick is probably on the lowest spectrum of being considered a "sand track". Grantsburg, WI is about 2-3ft deep of soft sand and NO hard base. I always wished they could make Grantsburg wider and host a National. But the place is just too small and would need a lot of improvement. They could move it down the road with bigger hills and it would be awesome.

I would bet that Club MX sand track is probably packed full of riders doing sand set up.

Southwick was Deegans worst result last year. They are killing two birds with one stone by testing (new 24 model) and making sure Hayden gets more comfortable. Genius move by the team.

Probably helps a lot if his weak point last year was riding sand/Southwick in general, but as far as why teams don't test at each track beforehand, I can't imagine they'll get the best settings riding with 5-10 people on the track vs 100+ pros setting burner laps during qualifying.

Also to do it every week would be a nightmare in housing riders/staff, and parts/etc. I imagine.

Do you go into work on you vacation time off?

31 race weekends is a grind, the nerve of them taking a week off, on an off weekend.
