I know he’s had some hate around here (I’ve been critical at times) but I have to say, I’ve been appreciating his content lately. In a sport that has horrible media questions, and reports that don’t even scratch the surface, he’s able to provide 3 hours of insight and conversation with the top guys. It’s refreshing to hear non-moto related talk, as well as hearing about the stuff that happens behind the scenes. Racers have discussed payouts, Levi mentions calling in sick at star to ride other bikes and riding Mumfords Honda while at star. Content we won’t ever get from the bigger outlets. Also a plus that he’s dialed back his ju-jitsu talk.
not sure why there has ever been hate on his content, I also don’t understand the hate toward BJJ. He isn’t a pro motocross rider and he is using his dedication to BJJ to correlate to the dedication they have towards the riding/training required to be at the top level of moto.

I think his “Privateers need to GET OUT” hot take didn’t mesh too well with a lot of people.
His content is good. And seems like a good dude. My issue with him is based on interview style I think he talks too much. Think he’s been doing better but he routinely cuts off guests and starts telling his own stories we’ve heard a bunch before. Let the guest be the spotlight. For example, he might pose a question and then start answering it himself before the guest even gets to talk. Joe Rogan does the same a lot.

He's good. These guys are comfortable with him around, and open up with stuff we wouldn't otherwise know. Dungey's detail on the nike boots was fantastic, as well as kitchen testing multiple bikes.
I think you will find thats just the new way long format podcast style interviews are done. Kind of capitalizing on his strengths too because he actually has a life and hobbies vs a lot of other moto journalists
I agree a little less jiu jitsu talk is nice. You can’t deny he gets some A list interviews and I like the long conversational style.
Agreed, but I'd still like it if he dialed down the brospeak, swear words and crudity. He can easily do it, as can be seen when he interviews people like Dunge and Canard.
Plus some of us do both. I’m a life long moto guy. Raced at every level. 35 years of moto. But I also like to cross train and do BJJ because of a lot of the same reasons I love moto, it’s one on one competition and I am constantly being humbled in a goal of improvement.
I am racing Mammoth Vet weekend this month and will be at World BJJ Vet champs in Vegas in August.
Josh Hill is a combat sports cross trainer. Brian Deegan does BJJ, and I am sure there are more out there.
His interviews are great and only getting better. His post race questions are a good ,not the usual nonsense questions .
He has a different angle for sure..

Yeah, that was ridiculous. I like to watch his shorter 8-12 minute clips. 3+ hours is a little much. To be fair, that goes for Pulp too
Needs to stop the over use of the word “like” and let the guest do the talking. You don’t have to level up to everything they say, it isn’t about you. He follows those two things and his show becomes super solid.

I used to listen to all his interviews. Hes built a good thing and has done well for himself. I find it real hard to listen to now though.
I think if Jase increased his level of journalism he could be a total mainstay of moto into the future. He is a little too bogan Aussie-sounding and "bro" for my liking. I get it - it is kind of like a conversation rather than interview, but it is cringeworthy to me a lot of the time. Especially with swearing or asking questions in an unprofessional way. As others have mentioned, he needs to learn the art of humble inquiry. He isn't the main character. So many clips is just him talking more than the person being interviewed. And no one cares about his life or experience.
Yet you know who he is and his podcast no doubt.
The art of humble inquiry means nothing in the modern age unless you play the YouTube game, which he evidently does. A lot of the stuff that people find annoying about him is largely driven by what platforms like YouTube require from users. He clearly, given the chance, asks some very good questions but he also is smart enough to know that 'humble inquiry' isn't what is required on the big social networks now.
So don't blame him, he's a smart guy working bloody hard to make something of himself and using the tools as his disposal better than most other people. What he is doing is very very hard to do.
Like it or not it’s his conversational style that actually gets his guests talking. They almost always open up about stuff that has rarely or never been heard before.
He has certainly established a niche that is exposing some of the really interesting back stories of many well known figures in the industry. I don’t listen to all of his podcasts as some of the guests don’t interest me but the ones I do listen to are extremely worthwhile.

If you haven’t you should listen to the whole segment on privateers. He actually had a well thought out point (even though many won’t agree with it).

I think he's a solid guy to have in the community. I was almost scammed by an account that was similar looking to his, I DM'd him on IG and he actually hit me back with some great info/insightful stuff to make sure I didn't get boned. Gypsy will have my support always!
If people were 100% honest they would realize he was right at least for supercross. The sport would be stronger with 22 factory riders.
No privateers= no show
People need to get over themselves and actually learn to listen.
Does F1 have privateers? MotoGP?
If people would listen to him instead of the fake outrage they would understand what he was saying.
AMA Supercross should be nothing but factory teams. Which means more guys making money. The guys that are not on factory teams should be in a secondary series that hits the smaller cities that can't fill a big league stadium. Think of a Supercross where the Savannah Bananas play baseball. The guys that fill the LCQ are badasses and when you watch them without the superstars they would put on a great show. A 15 round "B" series would do nothing but grow the sport.

Thats just a catchy phrase someone came up with. What’s more marketable a race series with all the riders on factory/factory supported teams(and making good money). Or a series that any one with a pro license can show up to and go back to framing on Monday?
Definitely not just a catch phrase. Getting a pro license is no easy feat in itself. There is a lot of grass roots respect for a guy that has a 9-5 job than can go to the track on the weekends and make the night show or make the fast 40 outdoors. Most weekend warriors, amateur riders, and real moto fans can relate. You see multiple feel-good stories of guys working 9-5 or going to school and still giving the satellite team riders fits.

I love the content. It's great for working out, driving, or working on the bikes. Gypsy does a good long-form interview. Very good show but i could see some getting turned off by the different interview style.
I've even thrown Cooksey into my weekly listening
Call it small minded, it's just reality. The sport is never going to be as big as any of those. It's a niche sport and always will be. I know, "It's that attitude that will keep the sport from growing." It's the way it is.
The difference was f1 and moto gp had privateer's til they had massive tv deals , wsx and mxgp have got the kart before the horse ,
