I was also immediately gutted to hear the high pitch shrill when I tuned in, gave her a chance for a bit during the first moto of the day but soon resorted back to muting.

Having Will Christien doing commentary is like having Amy Schumer as a Victoria's Secret model.

I want to thank you for that visual. I need to get in better shape, and that will help since I won’t feel like eating today…😂

I am glad I am not the only one that caught this and laughed, what an awkward moment, and god bless AP for doing the right thing in the moment (which was not Will's fault).

That's pretty awesome on AP's part.    Respect.

Shrill should have known to shut her trap during the national anthem.

You know how they have  "Breast Cancer" awareness week, "St. Judes/Dunge" week, "Support the Troops" week..... Can't they have, a "No Stories, Just Gonna Call The Race" week? Just what's on the screen, no fluff.

See how that goes, check ratings, etc.

You should show up at a race, find a producer and let  them know how you feel and tell them you are ready to step up. Or just turn your volume down.

i complain about the media and their refusal to set their bro-relationships aside and ask actual questions, and invariably someone chimes in with "Well, jump a plane and show up at the next race and ask your questions, smart guy!" Thank you for showing me that people will provide an equally stupid response with other valid complaints.

Listen ya punks, I'm as patriotic as anyone you will ever find, but we NEED a sense of professionalism and de-red-neck-i-fication in this sport. We need it to have prestige like F1 or (ahem) even golf. Will C brings this in SPADES! And she doesn't say STUPID shit like "mudder". You're all fired.

Hahha Jonesaustin... you hit the nail on the head! You mentioned de-red****, you could also say de-wh*t****** not gonna spell it out since it's not very nice thing to say...

Kristen Beat is also great, she does a great job and has some class, I like both, Will and Kristen.

To me, both are those who bring Moto to 'regular people' and the experts talk Moto details to us moto nerds. I think it's a good combo.

I think 'keys to the moto' is more laughable... 'get a good start, don't hit the deck' or 'get a good start, stay strong' or whatever, even worse when the ex-racer (who is short and is not announcing now in pro-mono) comes with these expert opinions. I'd like a shot at it, I would add 'put the bike in gear' or similar.

might want to be careful with the skin color thing. where does James* fit into this? does he make the sport sound more or less sophisticated? just curious.

*for the record, i like James just fine. david coulthard is a little uncouth in F1, but i think he's great too. some brits might turn their nose up at his scottish accent to boot.

I know y'all weren't, but he also sounds a bit unsophisticated. Just pointing out the potential pitfalls of categorization by racial (sub)classes.

If a female saying a few words during a race bothers you, you may want to take a deep hard look at your emotional intelligence. I suspect most of you are the same kind of people that lose your shit over a simple traffic infraction.

Truly an embarrassing side of motocross.

My roommate who doesn’t watch moto did the exact same thing in supercross.  Crazy

Yeah. By no means am I trying to badmouth her, but when the broadcast is going all out to cater to potential new fans… and they’re the ones muting the tv.. that’s a problem

Cool story 👍 maybe you could start a new thread stating the obvious about hockey and football being a better broadcast then super duty motocross?

Cracks me up..... "gotta grow the sport,.... bring it to the genpop bla-bla-bla ...".

It's a bogus argument. The industry is fighting to survive, your average punter thinks watching a bunch of paroled spandex-wearing rapists running around on a plastic field for 3 seconds at a time is thrilling.....while drinking dogpiss beer and acting stupid. Screeching irrelevant nonsense at someone like that is NOT going to make them buy a dirtbike and watch SX or MX. Tennis fans, curling aficionados, or wimmens baffketball goons are not going to switch, period. Fuhgeddaboudit!!

Off-road motorcycle racing is a niche sport, always has been, always will be. It's not nearly as big now as it was in the early 1980s, even with all the social media flatulence, the internet, fecesbook etc. There's an organization called the Motorcyle Industry Council that publishes industry statistics, go read some of their stuff and see how many dirtbikes were sold in say 1972 or 1983 vs. 2023.

Ask yourself, has TV coverage increased, stayed the same, or decreased over time? From what I see, and remember, it's about the same AT BEST. No more Wide World of Sports, no more ESPN Speedweek every Tuesday evening, no more ...what was that cable channel from 20 years ago again? Speed Channel?

(However --  there are some OUTSTANDING stuff on u-boob, like the National Hare and Hound series, flattrack, hard enduro etc)

Feck "growing', focus on quantity over quality instead.

There are enough ex-racers and other industry insiders who can provide excellent commentary. Long list:

Weege -- excellent, articulate, knowledgable, one of the best No uuhm, aah, like, as I said, ganrly dude, sick bro! etc.

RC -- absolutely expert insight and knowledge, but still hasn't learned that words are like cologne, less is better. He used to sound like an alligator poacher but has become much more articulate. His podcast show with Villopoto is outstanding, when he has time to think about things he's great.

JT -- Excellent technical knowledge and ability to verbalize it. The best pit reporter I've seen.

Bubba --  to me he's still the little gnome making grunting sounds in the Crusty video with Pastrana and Carmichael 29 years ago. He's just dumb, and it shows. Like RC his racing credentials are unsurpassed and they have equal levels of insight, but that doesn't translate to verbal skills. His live commentary is embarrassing.

Grant Langston -- was excellent, one of the best, forced out by politics.

Jeff Emig -- was good, but used too many canned phrases and expressions.

Adam Cianciarulo -- still an unknown quantity, but has always been very well-spoken, I'd guess he will be very good.

Ralph whatsisname -- another corporate yapper who belongs in WWF or horse racing.

Do you think hardcore tennis fans would tolerate some Nebraska amateur MX commentator for Wimbledon? Or international level Rugby , or even baseball, someone like Richard Petty? Why then someone like Will the Schreech in MX/SX??

Dragging her into MX is a pathetic attempt to virtue-signal how "diverse" dirtbike racing is. She knows fuckall about the sport, she has a voice that chases dogs off the porch and makes small children cry, and she's a two-bagger at best. Back in the 90s and 2000s they had Jamie somebody on purely for decoration, but she was pleasant on the eye and ear and didn't spew BS every time her mouth opened..

Same with that Tintin-looking wanker Leigh Diffey. Just another corporate motormouth who has ZERO connection to dirtbikes. Many like him, unfortunately.

Every time I watch SX or MX -- always on u-boob afterwards, easiest and FREE -- I sit with my finger on the mute button, the SECOND this Screechy Will's name is mentioned I mute it for 5 minutes. One of these days I might just switch to a Brady Bunch rerun instead. Listening to her screeching will NOT 'grow the sport" Woohoo

Based comment. I hope you are allowed to stick around.

So has RC been axed from the broadcast team for the nationals or was he ever even part of it. I haven't seen any new threads on how bad he is so maybe they figured it out and got rid of him. Whistling
