Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
Very interesting if it happens.
Janis Reisulis blew his knee and is out for the year. Gavin will do a few EMX250 for VRT and goal is to bump him up to MX2 as Bonacorsi left the class and now Benistant is injured.
The kid has all the speed in the world, but he needs to calm down. Any time he crashes, he seems to see red and go straight berserker mode, which just compounds the mistakes. If he gets his head straight, he’s capable of winning some races in either series (FIM or AMA), but if he doesn’t start figuring some shit out, it’s going to be the same old, same old.
Nice opportunity and i think it makes sense for Yamaha Europe as well. Only thing i am not entirely sure off is, and that is if i read your comment correctly: Why put him in the VRT team for a couple of races and then move him up to the Hutten team for MX2 and switch team/mechanice/bike etc during the year? Or is the goal to move up to MX2 next year?

Hopefully this will give him a shot, no excuses , no SX to worry about.
Be interesting to see how he goes.
Ahh. Hadn’t seen Janis blew his knee out. Just figured one of them would get sent to mx2
Probably to see how he gets on. If he's running top three in EMX250 then i'm sure they'll move him up, but if he's around 10th then they'd keep him in EMX250 I would think. I've no idea where he will fit in.
It's just my opinion - but being from France, I don't understand why they are flying over an amateur who actually never took part in any pro race (yes futures does not count).
Bogdan Krajewski, vice Elite French Champion, rode EMX250 and MX2, is on site, available and already proved he can race at this level. Kid has no support except from his family and a dealership, and they do it all on their own.
Saad Soulimani, same thing. Already proved himself in EMX250 and MX2, rides a 2 stroke because he couldn't find a better deal.
And yet they send a kid that didn't prove anything, that never rode such long motos as he'll find in Europe, and as someone said, he flies in the air one race out of 2... Go figure?
Soulimani has been impressive this year.
Hoping he does well over there but also kinda bummed we won't be seeing what he could do racing outdoors here. Does anybody know if he had any options in the states? To go from Star even taking a flyer to nobody having anything for the kid seems weird. All the teams just full? Nobody doing fill-in rides anymore?
Gavin turns 20 tomorrow. How many more years of eligibility does he have in the 250 class in Europe?
Three I think
Yamaha Racing Global decision probably, VRT is Factory Yamaha Junior Team in Europe, its seems like the relationship between Yamaha Europe and Star racing Is closer than ever, maybe to the point that they could share riders, with the rumors of Benistant moving to the US with Star Racing, maybe Towers will ride a Yamaha in MX2 next year? And they want him to gaing experience in Europe by racing EMX250...
3 more years (after this year) in EMX250 and MX2.
Then of course, he could do a fair few Euro series on 250s, or go back to the USA.
It worked out for Osborne and Ferrandis, quite well,. Though , I think Ferrandis got away from Luongo a year before he would have been forced up to the 450s.
Thankfully, The USA doesn't have that p**s poor '23 and you're Out' rule - when will Luongo realize he's driving people to the USA, or back to Euro Nationals, or, retirement at 23?
If that is true, the time table sorta makes sense. A year of EMX250, then move to MX2 in 2025. By 2026, if all goes well he’ll be ready to show what he can do in MX2. With all the top MXGP talent bucking for a ride in the states, it actually might create an opportunity for Towers if he can stay on the bike.
100% agree. It might be they think he will draw some attention to the team coming from the USA.
I doubt there is a real path there for towers. I think it’s mostly just a fill in ride.
I believe that’s wrong. I think it’s farther apart than it’s been the past few years. Rinaldi has put a stop to anything coming from Star last year and this year.
Pit Row
I was wondering where he would end up after not having a future with Star. This seems like a great opportunity - hope it goes well for him
Makes you wonder if that rule will be scrapped if half the top 10 in MX2 are looking to move to the US.
all the speed in the world? not sure what race you're watching to make that statement unless your his dad
Soulimani yeah he showed he is a top 5 rider. Krawejski i dont know.
But in general i think it would be good for GPs if they picked from their own series over an American.
Imo if they scrap 23 year rule and open for 2 strokes you'd have over 40 entries in mx2 at majority of the gps.
The age rule keeps a bunch of riders at home, but imo many also forget the costs of 4strokes at the gps.
Not his dad, hell, not even really a fan of the kid, but to say he doesn't have speed is a silly statement.
I was excited to see him in futures until after one of the early rounds when he was visibly frustrated after coming in 2nd place. Will congratulated him and asked how it felt to podium a futures race and he said something like "I'm disappointed because I know I should be winning." Then he went on to lose every futures race. Oops.
I think there is a difference between having speed and having speed to win races. He has shown no evidence of being capable of winning races to this point. That’s not saying he isn’t a capable pro or a nice kid or whatever else.
Towers needs to contact Mitch and see if he could ride the PC bike.
Masterpool got the ride...
Surprised Towers didn’t end up somewhere, he has the speed.
Go watch the moto combine at Ironman last year (he won by 20+ seconds). The kid has the speed to win races, but if he doesn't screw his head on right, he'll never figure it out.
