Why don’t we have an episode with Feld, AMA, Dirt Wurx honcho and the lovely production crew? You know to get some shit straightened out. We are a joke with basically the same tracks every week , a crap tv production who can’t do the simplest things and make us look bad, and the list goes on. Instead of talking to riders every week why don’t you use your platform to make our sport better. We are a long winded sport with zero creativity, need new ideas and fresh blood.

I think I’m a lot of ways he has. But I also think some don’t care what he has to say. He had to strong arm them to get his privateer race.
Steve is a vampire, not a Dr.
It’s a niche sport. Don’t expect good coverage. Want to watch good tv in motorsports? Watch F1, MotoGP, nascar, weathertech sports car, lemans, nhra, drag boats, rc car racing, endurance racing, motoamerica.
He has tried. Hell, I've even tried

Disney on Ice, people. Our sport is ran by the same company who runs Disney on Ice.
I've only "incidentally" met Steve twice. Both times he was engaged with DC and I politely waited at a distance and did not intrude or interrupt because it was at the races and that's their job site.
When they finished with whatever they were talking about DC acknowledged me, stuck out his hand and we shot the shit like dudes do. Steve on the other hand...acted like I was a maggot stealing his oxygen. I could have read him wrong but my impression was that his self important attitude makes him kinda dickish.
If y'all actually know him personally and I'm way off base...tell me. I'm not ashamed of being wrong.
It takes two to tango.
oops here is the link

I'll concur.
I've known JT since he was 10 years old, and Weege for over 20 years now. Both have plenty of time for me. Along with DC, who've I've also known for like 25 years or more.
Matthes has only ever given me the cold shoulder.
I am a pulp fan, admire what he's done.
But yeah, in person...
Not a fan
Matthes is checked out. He wants the sport to stay exactly as it is and he’s definitely not gonna lead some charge of change at this point.
Lewis you are our only hope.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm open minded enough to hear and consider what others think. I don't know Steve or listen to Pulp...hell, I already spend too much time around this joint. That's why I asked for others input.
If I'm wrong about something I can change my mind....ask my wife...she changes it for me constantly.
That’s pretty funny.
How exactly did Steve “strong arm them”?
Threaten to not cover Supercross?
Say mean things about them?
Feld literally pays for the whole event, schedule, track maintenance, safety crew.
Just because they don’t put out a pr statement saying look at us does mean it ain’t happening.
All this benefits the privateers.
And you bag on them for it.
Well done.
I think he said something about fucking up the lcc/ heats with $$$ rewards. I’m sure it was just a bluff though. He wouldn’t alienate himself like that.
Steve has said multiple times on the show that he won’t seek eye contact with the people around him. If a listener or a fan want to say hi or take a pic they need to walk straight up to him and say hi.
Not stand a couple of meters apart and wait for something to happen.
Weege and JT is a different story but all people are different.
Regarding the topic of the post, i don’t see it happen. Look at how he handeled claimgate, how do people think that he would act around a topic like this?..
I think he had a bunch of money raised for privateers (which is awesome), and was gonna payout according to LCQ position in the last race or something. This would of obviously been a complete shitshow of a race, which I think Feld wanted to avoid that, so his own race was probably the best option.
While reading your list, I thought for sure it was going to say Weathertech commercials
Niche sports don't have a Spanish simulcast and a whole "video pass" for international audiences.
It's been better in past seasons with less money involved
Pit Row
Haven’t listened to his show in years which is a pity because he gets good guests and weedge and JT are great. Can’t stand him at all.
This isn’t about liking Matthes or not, it is about getting our sport back on the right track. Matthes has a platform that can do that.
This same idea is open to Ping, Keefer, JT, James and or anyone who wants to listen and has a platform that will help.
Just get Lewis on it then.
There are so many sports or championships that are small who have video passes including for an international audiences. Doesn't say much about a niche sport or not.
Same kind of experience I had. I met him and Watson at Hangtown. Watson was cool as can be but Steve seemed like he was being seriously intruded upon to stop sucking on his Starbucks for 15 seconds to take a picture. The picture by the way Kenny is smiling big time but of course the Canadian was throwing a half smirk.
As a casual Pulp listener, seems like Matthes is one of the few media guys who consistently advocates changing the sport.
I wasn't there to bug him for anything. I only knew who he was from photos. I wanted to kid around with DC. Steve stood there after DC turned and started talking to me. I gave Steve the customary head nod wink "I'm cool, you're cool, we're cool thing like ya do and he made it obvious he wasn't happy.
My encounter in no way means Steve isn't a good guy. Maybe I just caught him in some bad moments. That's why I asked from people who actually know him.
I'm sure he's not worried about what I think.
One small thing- I passed Steve Matthes with Ryan Villopoto coming out of the pro pits, it was weird encounter.
I stopped him and told him to keep an eye out for Rick as he just posted fastest time in B timed practice, and he could look up the back story on VitalMX
He told Me he never reads Vital and said to me sarcastically , “Cool Story Bro” chuckled and walked away.
I was wearing a credential, team uniform, and was with Michael Lindsay at the time In the pro pit area.

Steve is somewhat the Perez Hilton of moto, he creates his own highlights and picks those who aren't too loaded. Besides that you never know if he is spitting the hard truth or settles an old score.
If one is concerned about building/maintaining a fan base that behavior seems illogical.
I have listen to the Pulp show for many years. Year after year, Steve has always said the same thing and hasn't waffled about meeting new people. Think he has enough friends and my not want anymore. LOL. I have seen him many times at the races and always wanted to say hi to him and thank him for what he does to help the privateers. But then I start to think about it, and I don't like people either. Steve, stay true to yourself, keep doing the things you do and keep making the sport better. Hats off to you, o wait, Nets off to you.
I don't think anyone in these accounts wanted him to be their actual friend. They were just looking for him to not act like an asshole
That’s the reason I would never try to engage in a conversation with him, or a friendly hey how’s it going man? Feel like I would be bothering him or feel like I need to apologize for saying anything.
I do like the show, listen every week. Think he does a great job. Just wouldn’t want to try and strike up a conversation.
