Something is obviously very wrong. At one point during the 250 heat race, they were running two split screens of the exact same section, with the same riders. Once we realized it we started laughing.

the worst part is, that this isn't new. Showing the same action on the split screen has happened a few times.

You heard it here for the five thousandth time folks.

Magoober is so sick of the fucking pathetic Lawrence coverage.

It's gonna be a long 10 years of seeing 80 of these same posts every week.

You should change your user name to Garg-ler...

Pretty sure most people are sick and tired of seeing split screen stupid shit during the racing.

I don't normally complain about the broadcast, yah there is always stuff that could be done better, but it is easy to point out after the fact.  Cutting to the crowd at the moment they cut to the crowd though. WTF!!!  That's something You can use in a replay . Or in some sort of cinematic video, or add for the races.  But in no way was that something they should interrupt the live battle with!  Crank up the volume of the crowd noise if You want to show how wild they are going. But when there is a battle, I want to see it, Not see others react to it .

Might be a great commercial for Supercross. And I think  understand the idea of why they cut to the crowd. But really I do not think it made the coverage better in any way to do it live.

I did feel like showing Jett watching his Brother get his first 450 heat race win, while he was on the gate for his own 450heat. Was cool.  And it was cool to see Jett so happy for Hunter.  But cutting to the fans during the battle.

I was watching the race with my mother (79) my sister and 2 year old Niece , who had never seen SX before. My mom watches every week.  My niece was LOVING it. It was so cool to see her so into it. My sister was amazed by how interested she was. My sister doesn't want me to put video of her online. But I wish I had been recording her when they cut to the crowd.  She was all into the race. And yelling motorcycles!!, jumping!!, fast!!. then when they cut to the crowd she yelled motorcycle gone??????  And put her hands up with a confused look. And was very happy they came back quickly.  My niece liked the racing so much, I would not be surprised if My sister started to watch the races with her. Even an almost 2 year old, who has never seen a dirtbike race knew it was bad to to cut to the fans at that moment!

I think the biggest problem is they don’t do anything great or even good. There is an issue with every part of the broadcast.

The announcers aren’t great

the split screen can be good but they show the same battle and mess it up.

cut away from a battle to show the crowd.

crowd going crazy but spotters don’t pick it up.

timing and scoring never works 100% of the time.

RDL- always audio issues. Can’t stay on a a fast rider putting in a fast lap. Or they will be following a rider going slow taking a breather… Jett or Tomac will go flying by obviously on a heater and they just stay on the slow rider.. get a fucking clue. So frustrating watching that and just sitting there waiting and then yep.. Thst was Jett’s fast lap.. glad I missed it

cutting away from a rider doing a unique line. The whole point of the tv crew is to give everyone at home the best perspective of what’s going on. Could you imagine never knowing JS7 was doing the wall jump at Daytona. Or knowing he was but every time he came up to it the camera showed us the “battle for 7th”

They just don’t do ANYTHING great. Like as a professional tv crew you can’t hang your hat on one thing.. it’s pathetic.

Yah the timing and scoring, Showing Chase 9 seconds behind as he was passing for the lead...  I think Jett's time was more accurate. But still it was all over the place.    That is even more annoying. The timing is not a subjective thing. Somebody might be able to argue that what they were showing was good in some way. But  the timing being messed up is just not OK. I watch it since they miss a lot on TV. And it helps me see if somebody is moving forward or going backwards. But its hard to know what is real , with mistakes being so common.  That really should be something easy enough to fix. They know its a problem.

Some of the stuff they do I just don't understand how somebody who has been doing it so long, could go the wrong way so often.

RC as much as some people, well a lot of people dislike how he speaks, and can trip over words. He might be a great director. He has been able to spot passes sometimes a lap before they happen.  I think they should get a former racer who had very good racecraft to be working with the director. Helping them know what to show as far as the action. I know him as a great racer, and I enjoy the times he can point stuff out ahead of time. So I am fine with the not so great stuff. But from the outside looking in, I can understand why people may think it reflects badly on the sport. My sister is Deaf, otherwise I would ask her what she thought about them as a first time viewer.

I hope that somebody can  ask whoever decided to cut to the crowd what they were thinking  and put the info out.  I try and see things from opposing views . And I'm having trouble finding a way that I could think it was a good idea during a live race. Only thing I think makes sense is if You are shooting a commercial ,trying to get people to come out and watch live. But in no way did it make my race viewing experience better.

At 67 years old I dont get excited about much anymore...but there I was watching AP and JL in a good ole fashion drag race down the whoops...heading for the corner...this is gonna be good....nope, cut to a shot of the crowd cheering......nuff said.

I wonder if more cameras are needed?  Seems odd they can miss stuff.

Seattle Production / race calling was bad yes, but different bad. I wonder if there was someone else having a go at calling the live edit. More of a production person as opposed to a Director who knows the sport 101%

boot will. boot rc.

let weege solo it with jason thomas on the floor and it would probably be one of the best supercross broadcasts ever.

the biggest problem they have is too many indians and trying to do way too much bullshit filler pieces. i'd rather watch moto ads when the racing is in downtime

Spot on as I asked him bout it on pulp show one nite and he said they were doing good job!! I told him he better tune in to the mxgp broadcast to see how a sport is supposed to be covered!! Mailan does it alone and is superior!!

Weege badmouthing the program or his bosses wouldn’t be a great career-move.  We’ve all been there. Sometimes being a good corporate citizen requires a little shillery…

It isnt easy, but if you are cutting to the crowd, when they are excited about what is on track , and we miss it. you are a cunt.

And all the time they show the team staff on F1 and MotoGP... they are now watching themselves, and you cant film the reaction, as they are watching themselves.

I will be doing a livestream on Sunday , 8 of us, 2 in the booth,  2 in the trailer, and 4 out on the cams, and my second chair in the booth talks to the director to tell him what he should be looking at if he isnt, because we can also see the track, but you can only talk about what they are showing.

Its past the point of expecting it to change , they dont care.

After reading these comments, I feel like I’m watching the View. I get the that it isn’t perfect but I’m guessing none of you have a clue what it takes to actually broadcast a race live. I don’t either but like most things, I’m sure it’s more complicated than you think. It’s not perfect? Get over it. We get to watch the races and practices live. It wasn’t that long ago we’d be lucky to see the race a month after it happened.

People like you is why there’s no progress on anything. The “be happy and shut up” crowd.

none of us have a clue how to broadcast? Yeah no shit. It’s not our jobs. If it was my job people would expect me to do it well. That’s why I was hired. If I’m shitty at my job.. people complain and I have to do better.. I don’t say.. well why don’t so and so try my job. Well it’s not their fucking job. It’s mine. And I have to do it well. So no.. we don’t have to know how to broadcast. That’s their job. And they suck at it.

none of us have a clue how to broadcast? Yeah no shit. It’s not our jobs. If it was my job people would expect me to do it well. That’s why I was hired. If I’m shitty at my job.. people complain and I have to do better.. I don’t say.. well why don’t so and so try my job. Well it’s not their fucking job. It’s mine. And I have to do it well. So no.. we don’t have to know how to broadcast. That’s their job. And they suck at it.

yeah it's sorta ironic for a sport that's based on merit and excellence and chasing that that last 1%, and yet the same supposed fans get their panties in a wad when other passionate fans actually expect excellence in the *broadcast* commensurate with that exhibited by the *athletes* themselves.

it's not shuffleboard and dad bods. these are the finest athletes in the world, can we do them justice with a coherent and competent broadcast product please? is that too much to ask?

Something is obviously very wrong. At one point during the 250 heat race, they were running two split screens of the exact same section, with the same riders. Once we realized it we started laughing.

the worst part is, that this isn't new. Showing the same action on the split screen has happened a few times.

And it cracks me up every time !

Dude exactly. No one even really knows what job I do and if I suck I get fired. Millions of people see this product and A LOT of people think it sucks. You’re telling me they can have that much exposure and suck that bad and have ZERO accountability? That means one thing to me. Like others have mentioned.. politics. Only in politics can you suck that bad and have nothing change. Bondo has top cover and can suck however bad he wants.

Yeah it was arguably the worst night of production in recent memory and that is saying something. The moment you referenced in particular, shows that there is no synergy between the broadcast talent and production, the camera was on Jett when weege made that call and all they had to do was keep it on him... But no, switch to drone shot of barcia in no mans land (even though the caption said battle for 4th).

Two things are true. As an international (aus) viewer the broadcast has never been better or more accessible, AND the broadcast is lacking to the point where it's embarrassing.

The frustrating thing is its pretty simple stuff, that I haven't seen other much smaller sports have issues with.

totally agree.........the only option is more cameras that i can think of so they can at least show replays of what weege was setting up in the commentary...........
