I have long noticed that the firepower program tags no one that builds the motor packages, and there is a “fp” sticker on the head . I’m aware they get factory support from hrc , but how close do you guys think the motor packages are , and have much data may be shared? Stuff like that is real interesting to me . Thanks guys !

Mr. Chippy passed away so they haven’t opened since and rumor is track is going away for good. I’m in Baton Rouge so I typically stay on this side of the river. Wildwood Mx is normally first choice, with arcola and Hammond being close seconds. New track in Angie is a lot of fun too. I haven’t been out to mill road since new owners took over but it’s definitely on the to do list.

"an OEM part broke that we've run in our practice bikes forever"

i'm guessing they're getting support running interference for honda like that. either that or it's another Twisted blowup (they were running Twisted at least as late as 2022, 2024 not confirmed....@ML512??)

They don't use Twisted Development anymore. They have an in-house engine program.

David Walls, who had his own engine business based near our out of MTF, is the team's engine guy now. PEP is doing their mapping and they are partnered with a few aftermarket brands for the components.

It wasn’t Twisted Development’s fault they were having motor problems.  Yes the package was designed by twisted, but the failures were not TD’s responsibility.

Konksys Honda Factory bikes in Aus never blow up and wins the 250 title nearly every year. Never hear of his 450s having issues either. I heard it was a valve that let go.
We own an ex race bike of his and its still going strong.

This was my thought to somewhat . As someone who watches aus Mx those bikes hardly ever let go . Dean’s bike in the states never let go . Quite strange ….

Ran them over recommended hours they did.

See a fair amount of this with cars, people shell out for the engine, run it way past when you tell them to, or mess with ECU settings or other changes that affect it without fully knowing what they're doing, and then complain when something lets go.

I can only imagine how religious you need to be with a maintenance schedule with something as highly strung as a pro level 250.

Tore my ACL at Wildwood.  I haven't heard that name in years.

Do you know the McAnelly's? I was staying with them when they built the track at their house in Gonzales. Had a blast that winter there with Michael, KDub, Johnny David and Ray Mitchell.

Not personally but I’ve heard of Mike before.

Farm14 is starting some public ride days soon so should be fun.

You guys need to take a trip up north and try out Desoto Motorsports Park. Not that it matters much to us but they are in the process of adding a huge SXS course. Always good to see expansion of any type.

Honest question, as I've heard that before. Why are whoops so detrimental to the gearboxes and cam chains?

Drivetrain, gearbox, engine, etc goes from no load, to full load, to no load over and over and over...within split seconds.

This.

Impulse forces are no bueno. Like beating on it with a hammer... a very heavy hammer swung by a strong guy.

Twisted has gotten amazing press lately…but if a part (OEM) failed this dramatically, and it was a Twisted motor…hope there is a correction at work.

Blast from the past. I know all of them and have ridden every track in South La. and Mississippi. Never made it to Frog Capital though.  Frog was near where Jamie Ellis (owner of Twisted Development) is  from ironically.

back on topic.  If Max is saying his bike is severely underpowered how well would he be doing if he was on a Star or Pro Circuit bike then.  Not sure I’d put to much weight in that statement, he’s a bigger dude and running at the front on a 250 so my belief is that his bike is making good power to get his bigger frame ahead of the kids. If you believe other wise he’d be way out front on a “properly” powered bike.

it looked like an exhaust valve broke. could have been the retainer also.

Hard to believe they are running stock exhaust valves. Really good aftermarket ones are $250 plus each which doesn’t seem that high for a race engine.
