for me i first started watching ama and riding myself when villopoto was dominant, so i always wanted a works kawasaki. love a clean green bike

I wanted a 1976 YZ80C so bad! Bought it brand new with paper route money. This one isn't mine, but it looks just like it, except that I painted the heat shield on the pipe yellow.  It looked awesome!  I still miss that bike, and look for one occasionally on Craigslist.  If I found one, I don't know what I'd do with it, but I loved that bike.

Three decades later, I wanted a Yz125 super bad, for a few years.

When the aluminum frame and new engine were released for 2005, bought one! Still riding it today.  I love this bike!

My neighbor had that YZ80 and it blew my TM75 away! The difference was shocking.

Motocross bikes wise, with realistic goals in mind, when I was a kid I wanted an 86 or 87 CR125R and still do. 

Unrealistically, there's a looong list of works and factory bikes we'd all like but will never get, but a few years ago Ten Kate Racing was selling off it's WSBK Honda's- including Nicky Hayden's. If I'd had the money...

As a kid in the 70's in the Southeast, we didn't see many Euro bikes other than an occasional Ossa or Bultaco.  1974 was the year I fully moved from Mini's to big bikes and I was tied to a Honda dealer so I had all the Elsinores of the day.  Secretly, I loved the Spanish bikes of 1974...in particular the 1974 Ossa Phantom.  By the time I got into vintage racing back in 2000 there weren't many Phantoms around and Maicos were plentiful and had great support so that's what I picked up.

I moved from San Antonio back to South Alabama in late 2020.  One day, not long after I moved, I saw this project bike on Ebay.  In San Antonio.  Bid on it and took a couple of years to slowly build the engine and work out some carb issues.  Took it to Diamond Don's last year and got a trophy with it.  Still needs a full restoration but it will be my vintage racer for the foreseeable future.

I don't know why the down votes. Weird.  I don't think a TM75, or any bike that year stood a chance against it.

That bike was fast right off the showroom floor.

My friend had a Yz80B with lots of mods, and mine was as fast as his while stock.

It was either the C (1976), or the B (1975), when the displacement increased from 72cc to 79cc, and the reed cage and intake were massively upgraded.

At some point, I ported it myself.  The bike simply ripped!

I have a collection of misfits that worry more about my posts than their own family, so ignore the nuts behind the curtain.

Not sure when the RM80 came out but that bike certainly leveled the playing field.

1994 Honda CR 250.  Loved loved loved those bikes.  Seeing them on the showroom was a treat as a teenager.

YZ80D comes to mind all the time. I have looked to find one to clean up and leave around. I didn't own one. Had an XR75. But that YZ was so much faster it blew my mind. I still think about that to this day.

Early 90's YZ80. Couldn't convince my folks so my 1st moto bike was a 2000 YZ 125 I bought in 2004 when I was 22.

I did get a 1971 Honda Trail 70 on my golden bday 7 years old, so I wasn't deprived LOL

At 9 and 7, my kiddos don't realize how good they have it with their KTM 65 and 50 SX's.
