Welp I stepped up and I am going to get a new Triumph TX 250. 4 are due at the local dealer in a few weeks and I'll get one of those. The only upgrade is going to be the Akro TI System.
I've had a bunch of KTM 350 and 450 and never could gel with the WP, so I'm looking forward to the KYB's. Yes I tried the Kits in the WP's, however never got them working the way a good tech might might have.....
The reviews are what motivated me and also I'm not getting any younger! I'll be 73 in a few weeks. This is gong to motovate me to race some more. I'll ride the 70 Master Class at the Old Timers Series (West Coast) at select events and some yet to be picked. 1st one for be will be Hangtown in late April then Montana in May.....
Still love my 134 and 125X Yamaha......however just had to give this new bike a try.
My son has a Stark and a new Kaw 450. Rode the Stark (I've had a 21 450 - last 4 T) and it is not for me at this time! To heavy as I'm only 63 kilos.

Definitely send us a ride report from your perspective. I think it's really interesting that Harrup podiumed third at the GPs last week and it seems like Swoll has been doing better. Like to see what you think!

For me age is but a state of mind, yes MX has consequences if one chooses to focus on them. As far as results go, I truly don't care as I ride for the freedom provided by a dirt bike.....we manifest what we choose!
Keys for me are:
Good diet
No alcohol
Adequate sleep
Stay flexible
I don't workout excessively
Optimistic life plan
Makes me feel like a youngster at 65

Curious what the actual out the door pricing people will be getting on these.
This will probably be my next woods bike in a couple years once I move on from my FX350, just need them to come out with the woods models mainly just a 18" rear and a bigger tank is a necessity for racing for me unless someone comes out with an aftermarket solution.
Per the dealer - offroad bikes next year 250 - 350 and a 500 of some displacement. All plate able. 450 this fall was also mentioned.
450 motocross this fall, we're testing it around February.
I'd be super surprised to see the 350 anytime soon. My discussions with them seemed like it was still in the consideration phase and hadn't been green-lit.
It would be a home run if they made a 350.
With the 250 appearing to be working so well I can’t wait to see how the 450 works!

They've said from the beginning there would be dual sports so I'm sure that should check the box of bigger tank and 18" rear.
Sounds like they will have some woods bikes (KTM XC-F style bikes) and some dual sport bikes (EXC-F style bikes).
As long as they are different lines because a street legal plateable bike sucks for off-road stuff after they make it emissions compliant and all that jazz and more expensive.
And he'd do the same thing all of us would do with a 24 YO gf if/when we're 73 - enjoy looking at her and remembering when he could do her justice.
Oh, and going broke with the maintenance costs.
All you old guys say that riding and racing make you feel alive. Us guys in our 50's say that Monday morning after racing we feel dead at work. Hahahaha

With Triumph claiming 55hp and a broad power delivery with the 250 -- If it makes good on that, why should we (as buyers) be super hung up on the displacement?
Same reason why people buy a KTM 350 when their 250 is still one of the fastest in the class.
Peak HP numbers don't always equate to good bottom end. Listen to the reviews on the triumph. It has a good motor but nothing special compared to the rest.
You'll never get a 250f to feel like a 350f, hence why KTM constantly sells out of them.
Why not go after that market?
But we don't even really know what this 250f or a non-existent 450F version "feels like," and we're saying we need a 350 version.
But we do know what it feels like. Multiple tests have been released and the general consensus is all the same. The motor is almost identical to the KTM 250f engine as well.
I'm not saying we "need" and 350 version, but you can't tell me people wouldn't go nuts for a KTM based 350f motor in an aluminum chassis bike with KYB suspension that costs less than a KTM.
What if the 450f is super agile and controllable?
This all seems very presumptuous and attached to branding moreso than bike development.
Won't matter to be honest. Same reason people by KTM 350s over the 450s.
"Controllable" can have very different meanings from rider to rider.

Why they just dont buy 350f engines from KTM for their bike because their 250f seems to work good that motor will not make big difference on setup just better motor for Vet riders. Saving all develpment cost.

Triumph has an opportunity ... right here. Right now. Seems like a really good chasse (Dave Arnold knows what he's doing)... good team. Pull the trigger. That market is wide open.
And, yes, IMO, WP components can be a challenge. Linkage ratios, coating, piston design. Anyone remember that 4cs fork? YIKES.... Love to talk to Rodger about that decission. Along with that funky rear shock linkage ratio in 2016.
That's good advice. I retired from mx in my late 40's after a few crashes and feeling like it was getting harder to stay motivated and healthy after 30+ years of racing. I got into long distance mtb and ended up fitter and healthier, and keep wondering how it would feel to get my leg back over an mx bike again after a 7 year break. There's a big over-40 and over-50 scene in the UK so the races are there. This new Triumph has stoked a bit of enthusiasm too.
