Somebody figured it out here. Old Timers, OTHG, Swapmoto, Glen Helen, ARX, Vintage MX etc. I'm not familiar with Nor Cal.
I was about to say: is the whole "we need the ama to get insurance" just another ruse by track owner / promoters who are in tight with the AMA and have monopoly on some type of events? I don't trust these people at all anymore.
We know how these track owners act when they get cut into a series. Nothing but loyalty and lies to keep the paper flowing.
I'm tired of the sandbagging honestly. I know it has nothing to do with the original post, but it's just out of control. I thought that was what the AMA was there for was to enforce the classes?
I get that there always has been and always will be some level of sandbagging but it's insane now. 10 years ago I raced a big amateur national and I remember the guy who won the C class had a very similar lap time to the top guys in B class if not the same. That to me is total BS. And it's just gotten worse since then
C class goes out and hits all the big triples just like B class and has the same lap times as B class? Then what's the difference?!
I'm not complaining because I want to win a c class race either. I truthfully don't care. My goal is to make it to B class. I don't care whether I ever win a C class race. I just think it's enabling a lot of people with a weak ass mindset to sandbag races all the time which is just lame to me but maybe that plastic trophy is worth it.
Kweird because if you go to practice, D class is guys that can barely stay up and just put around the track in 2nd gear. But then a D class race you got guys who will go hit all the jumps after being told not to and win and not get DQ'd
Lots of racing around the NW that isn’t AMA sanctioned as well.
However, I know of some series that were non AMA for decades but have had to go under AMA in recent years to get insurance. SIDRA in southern Idaho being one example.

A, B, and C 450/250 and so on was just another scheme by the promoters to bring in huge entry fees. Now they all have to enter 3-4 classes to get a decent day of riding with four laps a session.
if the AMA actually cared about riders they would make the tracks offer way fewer classes. Beginner class and a Mens class. Full gates and long motos is what the sport needs. 30 rider gate of C and 15 rider gate of B and 5 rider gate of A all getting 4-5 laps is just so cringe and embarrassing as a sport. No wonder people leave mx to race off road
Does the AMA have a function at the professional level anymore? It has been a joke since for the last 30 years .
I have a nice truck but I was traveling with my son and wanted a brand new truck. My truck has some miles on it so I figured why not rent a brand new one.
The ama cares only about protecting hd and their museum.. They never stand up for your riding land.
A joke is correct, after last nights incident with the flagger. No excuse, that should have been red flagged and re-racked.
This, I only ride nesc or non ama 20 plus years now. I go to the shitty ama tracks to watch my friends race and laugh all day about it....
It probably wouldn't matter if they bitched
We had to call Mike Burkeen on the referee at Ironman Amateur day last year to get them to disqualify a AMA B rider racing C.
The referee told us it wouldn't matter, that's not the point. You idiots have rules, so f**king follow them.
Not a ruse at all. Our club has discussed branching away from the AMA but the insurance issue is very real. Not to mention the local promoter who would have no issue on scheduling event the same day if you chose to not be part of their series. You'd think something as simple as a hare scramble wouldn't involve so many politics and red tape, but it does.
If you keep up with the AMA and read the mag they send take a look at the people they are hiring to "Supposedly Fight" for motorcyclists rights and that will tell you all you need to know. They hire college graduates that have ZERO experience and they think these folks are going to negotiate with seasoned folks in DC. I've sent numerous emails with no replies.
Seems like the track owners could go to their local speedway, drag strip etc. and see where they get their insurance. Maybe they could get into a group buy or something. Does anybody know when the last time was that a track or rider ever had to use the AMA's insurance?
The point of the AMA is to defend Harley riders rights to ride without a helmet...
