Its true. Jett saw that he was the only guy really making it clean thru there, so he just had to sit behind them until that section. Meanwhile Sexton and Tomac had to ride their asses off around the rest of the track to make up all the time they lost in that one rhythm. So every lap they'd catch back up before it, and lose 1.5 seconds. Gain maybe 1 second back, then the rhythm section again. Just a game of risk vs reward. But it didn't look too bad if those guys would've changed lines early.

Isn't this the way Super Cross has always been? Make up a lot of time in shitty sections then take it easy..

The disrespect for the other riders and the history of the sport is absolutely nuts. Goofballs on Vital I expect it, but not from DB...

Any references that aren’t over 40 years old?

Yea they're all over this thread...I think the younger guys did a good job with that.

Chad Reed Daytona 05.. Jett just did the exact same thing. History legit repeated itself last weekend.

I remember watching that with my pops,  I was absolutely sure RC was going to win it, dad was a reed fan.  Fantastic race. I'll always wonder if 259 was there, and they started 1-2-3.

hands down one of the most underrated moments.. Its never spoken about.

Great ride, but for Reed, SD 2005 or A2 2014

A2 2014 was epic. I was there and watched Reed do that triple on into the rhythm every lap. Less than half way through I looked at my now wife and said "Reed is going to easily win this... No one else is doing that section the way he is and it's way faster." It was interesting to watch the broadcast later and see how late they caught his charge.

The Rock at the RCA Dome. I don't remember the year, 2005? maybe? genuinely one of the gnarliest rides through the field. Still can remember that crows absolutely losing their minds.

I’m telling u ….. I told 1 of my homeboys the other day I’m like bruh if baggett never fucked up his wrist & thumb he would’ve been a multi time 450 outdoor champ , we can bench race about others but in my own personal opinion, Kenny , Eli & marv better been glad tht baggett never tapped into his tru 450 potential ceiling

If Stew never went to Yamaha, if Broc Hepler never got hurt, if Dungey's gas didnt boil or chain didnt derail, if RV switched it up, if Millsaps was more motivated in his prime, if AC never got hurt, if Gajser took more time to practice SX...

I usually agree with Daniel's takes, but he needs to be drug tested immediately for this one. Yikes.

You missed the point. It wasn’t the history of the race, it was how good he rode the bike on what was probably the toughest Daytona track ever. I’d agree, it was a great performance, he was magic on that bike.

Magoo had two historic races, but they weren’t mind boggling rides where his raw talent showed, same with the 80 USGP.

Jett may be the most talented, technically efficient rider we’ve ever seen.

RV on the 250f at Budds Creek MXDN 2007. Even RC said he doesn’t think he would have had anything for him that day with a good start. I was there, hearing that bike go up the hills still gives me goosebumps.

Vital is all about shooting down "if's" and "but's" over the history of the sport. Also Vital, if that rhythm section at Daytona was different Tomac would have won

No matter what is said by the peanut gallery, Eli said "I'm gonna lose this battle in hopes of winning the war" (veteran move).

The jury is still out on how Jett will do if he gets bad starts or gets pressured more. After 8 races we don't have enough data to draw conclusions. All we can do is speculate.

To be continued...

This forum is strange. A bunch of industry people, reporters and former riders, openly talk about Jett being amazing and technically proficient...but some here lose their minds over even having the discussion.

It's awesome being able to watch different riders and styles over the years. From McGrath's smooth BMX style, to RC's training and tenacity, to JS's pure speed and will to do what others wouldn't, to Tomac forcefully manhandling the bike through a corner then lightly hop a braking bump over a single...to now Jett. I appreciate greatness! Will Jett continue to change the record books? Who knows. Nothing is certain. But I do look forward to seeing if he does or if something or someone stops him.

If you take jett out then that was a great race. But then jett passes both of then an puts 10 between them and somehow that's not a great race. That's vital for you.
