The laps that Jett put in when it really mattered in the main made everyone else look a bit average which is pretty crazy considering the talent, almost 2 seconds faster then Tomac and 3 - 4 second faster then some of the other top riders. When he did those laps was mid race when the track was pretty rough also.

It was a solid ass kicking last night. No, it wasn't because of the quad, if the other riders hit the quad Jett would have turned up the wick further. This was a young racer at his prime beating up on a bunch of older racers who ten - fifteen years ago would have been retired from racing by now. This is not the "deepest field ever" season, this is "no young American riders can go fast enough to unseat the established racers" season. Where are the American riders Jett's age in the 250 class, let alone 450?

And charging up the batteries for their air horns.
He didn’t look like he was flowing at all.
Jett was better but that wasn’t Eli’s best.
His fastest lap was over 2 seconds quicker than Sextons, and 1.7 quicker than Tomacs. At Daytona!
And he came from behind.
That was an incredible ride from him. And a warning to everyone else that 2023 perfect season outdoors wasn't a fluke, everyone better get ready for a similar show in 2024 if he is healthy.

A "no nonsense" Jett could easily go on a run and blow this series apart in the next few rounds.
Then dominate outdoors again.
Tomac and Sexton were having a great battle, proving that they're still far and away the best of the rest.
But Jett threw down 2fer's on them in both the heat race, and main.

I'm a Tomac fan from way back.
Still a Tomac fan here too. But he was talking about retiring two years ago, and coming off serious injury. Seriously past his prime racing condition. Jett should be able to beat him. As should some other pro 20-24year olds.
Our only hope for it not being a very boring summer is Sexton. As great as Jett is indoors, he's just something else outdoors. As much as you don't want to see one guy win everything, it's a pleasure to watch the technical perfection Jett has
It’s inevitable that Jett will be SX champ. He knew he had to eliminate the rookie mistakes and he demoralized them in the process. The rest of the field will keep “searching for comfort” to hide their embarrassment.
100% true about Tomac but Eli still rode a great race for an 'old man'. Every rider stops winning at some point. Credit to Eli is that it looks like he won't be winning simply because of one young guy who is one of the best riders I have ever seen. Not that Eli isn't fast anymore.
I do think that quad section was the difference though in Eli hanging with Jett or not. And that was just being fearless or not. Risk vs reward. Eli is getting better. He should not be down on himself.
