Kawasaki improved the front brake around 1978 on the KX 250

A bit more old school; amazing cornering ability of the legendary Maico made crazy lean angles possible:

Yeah, they seemed to be favored by some of the guys in '82 (I believe they called them USD60 or something similar? 60mm upper, 50mm lower?). Looked so trick back then.

I never had a set but had their RSU ones with the yellow sliders on my '79 YZ250. Wish I'd never sold that. Sad

Brad really fought Suzuki Japan to put the parts he wanted on that bike. There was alot of bitterness at the end of that contract, they despised him. Almost as much as the Euro's did for him winning the championship 🥴

So much so that he was without a ride the following year.

Unreal that the reigning 500 World Champ couldn't get a ride. Seems like wasn't welcome at the party.

Sweet pic. Growing up in El Cajon in the 70s, this dude was my first moto hero. Marty Smith was the local full on rockstar, but Broc was the man you'd see practicing out in the hills all alone for hours at a time.

One of my best shots. Dave Thorpe coming out of the pits at Namur in 86.

The stature of that giant, the matching gear, and especially that beast of a bike perfectly captured in a casual moment . Iconic.

One specific photo comes to mind but I cannot find it! It was a Tedesco poster from 2003ish, at one of the nationals. He’s kissing the front fender squeezing every last bit of pop out of his Kawasaki 250.

this poster hung on my best friends garage wall for 15+ years of my childhood and was my introduction to motocross.

Had a poster of Heikki when I was a kid, if this isn't it, it was very similar...

Surprised I haven’t seen it on this thread yet, but the photo of JS7 on his kawi seconds after gate drop headed down the start straight of Glen Helen looking right into the camera. Iconic for sure.

I came back to this thread today to catch up, and was looking for two shots in particular.  Thanks MX691 for posting the Carla beer at Namur shot, and I still haven't seen the other I was expecting to see-  Bubba's original scrub pic that took the world by storm.  Was it Budd's Creek?  I don't remember.

Anyway, here's a contribution from my own digital files.  RC's last checkered flag at the 2007 MXoN.  Check out the timer above.  Time's up.

RC's last checkers
