If it's over $75..

But isn't it like a flat rate of $7.95 if under $75?

FWIW, my route driver told me they're getting AC as part of the new contract. And one of the jobs I worked to put myself through school involved digging ditches in rocky terrain with a pick and shovel for $5/hr. I didn't want to do it forever but it was a means to an end. However, if they were offering $170k/yr I would have dropped out of school and retired after 20 years! Grinning

Just think if a sales rep for Under-Armour, Adidas, etc... could get them to purchase breathable uniforms from them.

Move over Jed I'm moving to Beverly too! Hills that is 💰

I think you're correct. I hardly ever get anything less than $75 so I can get the free shipping.

Do you live in an "extended service area"? far away from a UPS hub? That adds money too.

Nope.  10 miles from a hub.

This is what happens under a communist regime. It's only going to get worse. Be prepared.

Those guys still drive in vehicles without air-conditioning and wear 100% non-breathable cotton uniforms! Temperatures in the truck reach over 100 degrees routinely. While they're stopped and looking for your package among many, they're roasting their McCadoo's off! Take note, you never see a driver over 50. Reason being they can't do it!

I remember in the late 70's early 80's I was getting stuff delivered routinely from California to New York. The driver was actually mad that I ordered so much lol.

You can keep that money...

P.s. Those guys work tons of OT to get those bigger checks. Most of us at one time or another went down that slippery slope.

To be fair, it's a $170k total package, not $170k a year income. I'll give you the "Not a trade" too, but I also wouldn't say a 15 year old driving dad's station wagon on a country road is the equivalent to their work day as well. If it's that easy, there's nothing stopping any of us from doing it!

But going back to the original topic, I sold my moto jack rack to a member here, and it cost $175 to ship it fedex.

In many cases, companies charge you list price for shipping and keep their discounts.  In my former business life, I negotiated a number of our shipping accounts.  We had a 70% discount with UPS.  So if list price was $30 to ship something (that's what you would pay at the UPS Store) our bill would only be $9.00.

No you are not. Shipping rates are weird.  You couldn’t pay me to be a UPS driver. I live near a hub and them folk work a lot of OT, late nights and holidays. Doing that I am sure the 40ish dollar an hour job adds up quick, but again, no thanks.

Shipping is wild - particularly internationally. I wanted to buy a set of Ti fork guard bolts, a set of Ti axle adjuster bolts and nuts and a t-shirt from race-tech titanium and shipping was going to be between $100-$140 USD to me in Australia. I wanted quality Ti hardware… but not at that price.

(Edit: I know OP is posting about race-tech suspension and mine is about race-tech Ti)

Shipping charges are a bit of a scam- I ship parts for work all the time. We have our own FedEx and UPS shipping station so I print the labels myself and call them to pick up. For example I ship shit next day air priority from WI to Midland, TX all the time and cost is $8-$11 for a small to medium size box. A big box might be ~$15.  Shipping ground isn’t much cheaper so I don’t bother..

Fedex and UPS screw the average person big time.

I was a team lead of a shipping department for a global company.  Shipping rates to the customer were marked up 250%.

At least you didn’t ship it USPS. I have a set of Kayaba SSS forks that are lost and they have no idea where they are. It’s been going on for three weeks now.

But yeah, what isn’t expensive now. I’m shocked every time I buy groceries.
