As far as popularity Anderson had a good interview on Gypsy Tales about growing the sport’s popularity. Jett started as a joker and then got serious on the track temporarily but he still looked innocent on tv. I agree as soon as the show goes on like Jett winning again that is reestablishing himself with the fans which pretty much already happened i think. Everyone loves to like or hate a winner and they shouldn’t hate too much unless he takes people out. I don’t easily understand him off the bike but he is well spoken and not boring so I think that helps where he may move on to broadcasting. I hope for good competition he stays racing if he can keep it clean. I don’t think a Bam Bam-ing Jett would work.

I’m with you on being a fan of just about anyone who leaves their home to come over here to try their hand at SX.
Fans are fickle and were looking for any reason whatsoever to dislike Jett because of his past dominance. I’m not sure he can do anything now to be universally loved, except wait until the point in his career where he’s older, near the end of his career, and has a younger rider challenging him.

It’s like Jet is the Nickelback of MX…
For me, it’s mainly the things that his agent has done. I’m sick of the hype and constant focus on Jett. He is an incredible rider and deserves the success he’s achieving but as a fan, I feel smothered. I’ll probably come around at some point but it’s going to take a few years.
Not one bit, the Truth is the Truth and if posters have a problem with it, then that’s their problem. When I hear crap mentioned that Jett only had a perfect season, because it was a weak field, I call Bullshit, when I read Jett would have won the Championship on any brand of bike and the Honda isn’t anything special, I call BS again. Jett gets a lot of crap, because of his success, but I give credit where credit is due and I’ll rub it in your face if anyone tries to downplay his accomplishments with stupid comments.
This will pass, just learn from mistakes like the Anderson incident, keep being himself l, and keep winning. Stay away from the 72 wins talk, but absolutely do NOT go down the robot personality path.

If I’m Jett I’m dgaf on the popularity. I’d say what I want, when I want, continue to winning races, and keep collecting those huge checks.
He is a 20 year old kid, who will be supercross champ, he should be arrogant AF.
For starters...Don't disrespect your competition with the gay "shhhhh" and glaring head nod to the crowd when you win. Just be humble and respectful. Show joy when you win, not arrogance. Stop treating the sport like everything is a joke. Be more professional in your interviews. Its really simple, but no one will listen.
Calm seas never made a good sailor. This experience will be good for him. After his spectacular rookie outdoor season the spotlight is squarely on him. Much like the Yankees, Lakers, and Cowboys with their legions of fans and detractors. They're the perfect lightning rod for media to move the needle on viewership and ratings. Long story short, it's a business and only the names change over time.

The kids, younger fans, and even new fans still love him. Most of that new segment of the fan base wasn't around when Dungey, Tomac, or Webb were winning championships. Kid's dont want to cheer for someone over twice their own age.

Blame us ( Red Bull ) as well. Branding and marketing a winning athlete is the purpose of sponsoring an athlete. Thats why every brand is involved in your sport, thats how the business works. Winning isn't guaranteed and when you have someone like Jett or Chase or AP how can you not? I think where your getting confused is the media blend with marketing.. the media the Lawrence camp has no control over.
Lets list what Jett has done:
Selling Merch - Nearly everyone in the pits has sold or is selling merch.
Flight Plan YT series on Red Bull YT channel - Many many athletes have their own series vlog or series on YT
VIP program- Star has been doing it for years and Chad Reed started it, people loved him.
Free nights for the fans- Dade City ride nights, media nights , Dinner with Fans in Dallas- all free of charge.
He does not do a lot of media himself to lower the noise.

its not a popularity contest. its a win contest. u can help by stop making pointless jet threads they probably irritate US fans more than jet himself.
I never said I wasn’t a fan of his, I just answered the question. I appreciate that he’s raising the level. Doesn’t mean he has to act spoiled and arrogant. You can blame it on age all you want, it doesn’t change the fact that fans are not gonna root for him if he does.
Here is a good start for you Jett nut hugging fan girls. When you have a genius idea for a new Jett thread on vital, quickly scroll down to the already 498 Jett threads and just post it in there. There is no need for a new thread seeing who could gargle nuts harder every single day.
