You can be on the balls of your feet and still in wrong(old) position/form.
Good pics above in thread of Ryno and the kid on a kawi. The kid for sure has no 'hips unlocked', it's the typical position I go into when I get scared/insecure. So confident that I'm on the balls of my feet, problem is rest of my body in wrong position.
I still claim Sexton and the likes ride very differently from the guys 15 years earlier. It's small details but they are there for sure and it's those details Ryno preach.
I was gonna say similar, that pic of the kid on the Kawi is not a good representation of the point the guy was trying to make... The Kawi kid is stood up too tall and it won't be ideal, needs to stick his butt out... unlock his hips if you will 😂
I too find myself getting into that position sometimes, by mistake when I'm getting sketchy or lazy (or both).
It's maybe just a badly timed screen shot as I was sure Gary Bailey was teaching it more similarly to current form and he definitely still made a tonne of sense and most of what he says/said is still relevant now.
No they didn’t you guys are literally delusional. Standing through tight 180’s, off cambers, etc is a technique that’s become mainstream in the past 5 years. Go watch Everts ride, he stood a lot more than anyone else back then but still sat in tight corners and such. He sat a lot more than most people remembered.
I’m actually not a fan of ryno, he’s a crazy person. But credit where credit is due. He did help make this new technique mainstream. No question.
They are going to say you are brand new to the sport for having this (correct) observation.

Oh Mr. Grumpy Pants, no need to turn hostile because you threw such a silly statement out there. Take the L like a big boy and move on.
Maybe he meant McGrath and/or Stewart?
"Cocaine is a hell of a drug"
Mr. R. Hughes gets credit for preaching to the masses via social media, lots of clicks, he got the word out… pounded it in, went viral.
In a sense he did change the sport because everyone has seen his clips, can’t say that for the other great technique riders from the past, they didn’t have the internet. 🤷🏼♂️
This is such a wild take. You’re saying the basics of proper technique are new to the sport in the last 5 years? Come on. Idk how you even come up with this
Just admit you are wrong and STFU.
I bet your generation thinks they invented sex too
I've never heard anyone claim "Hughes changed the sport" ever, until this thread.
McGrath Changed the sport, then Carmichael changed it after that. Then Stewart changed riding style of motocross with the scrub the most, and lately I'd say Tomac has been changing the sport to ride feet on the pegs more than usual.
Standing through deep rutted 180’s and off camber turns is just basics of proper technique? Hmm that’s new to me. Jesus Christ some of you are incredible.
Or admit you just don’t like Ryno’s antics and it’s heavily swaying your opinion on the subject.
Yamaha changed the sport when they introduced the yz400f. Imho
Yamaha changed the sport when they introduced the monoshock in 1975.
Bro, you cannot be this oblivious. You said, and I quote, "Coaches never ever ever were talking about standing through deep ruts and such. Find a reputable coach on YouTube mentioning it in any video before 2017-2018 and post it."
I rebutted your initial BS with facts, and you wilted like a rose in the desert and had to become irate and aggressive. You lose bro, take a seat and deal with it.
Of all the hills to die on, Ryno’s is the weirdest
Worth mentioning that even Jett sits down a fair amount in MX. He’s not standing 100% of the time especially in the steep off chamber turns. He stands the most for sure but he does sit when he needs to quiet the bike down a bit
I refuse to believe you’re not just trolling. Those are literally the basics. You’re taught that from day one…
I take Ryno Power and can hit the whoops in 4th gear! 🤥
Pit Row
Holy fuck 😂😂😂😂 Yup, the absolute basics. That’s why we all make a big deal of Jett, Chase, etc doing it so much. Cause it’s the first thing ya learn.
Absolute dumbest post of the day.
When did we learn elbows up sitting on the tank and weighing the outside peg when standing through everything was the basics?
It doesn't count if you are rolling the whoops at 1000rpm!
Where was the facts? Your opinion stated as a fact? Show the videos 😂
Weird as the poster above said standing everywhere, through rutted 180’s and such is the bare bones basics of riding not an elite technique.
I took a moto class with Steve Wise in probably 1987 and he made us stand up around the entire track for multiple laps and told us to not touch the seat with our butts. It's the basics of balance.
Thought that was supposed to be our little secret 😏
I did the same stand up drill in a random class in a random place in England in the 90's.
Ryno's general lunacy is broken up by moments of total clarity that make perfect sense and he does know moto better than many of us ever will, but saying he invented this or that or changed the sport sounds a little over the top...
Especially as him and studworx are the only people saying he did 😂
Stand up drills and standing through a rutted 180 20 minutes into a moto aren’t the same. Stand up motos we’re a drill and weren’t done to get you to stand everywhere. That’s why we sat after the drill.
we also do front brake and rear brake drills. They aren’t to get you to stop using one or another. But to teach you how to use both.
We do clutchless drills, but the idea isn’t to stop using the clutch afterwards.
Hey I get reading comprehension isn’t your thing, but I’ve only stated 5 times that Ryno didn’t create or invent shit. Maybe Ryno said that somewhere, but not me. Just was one of the first trainers to start promoting the technique.
4 pages of getting your ass kicked and no signs of slowing down.
I admire your enthusiasm.
I would quit while I was…………..behind!
Never argue with a moron, the people watching can’t tell them apart..
Post a reply to: I pretty much changed the sport .
