Always been curious about this, how viable is a career path in moto journalism? How much are people like Lewis Phillips, Kellen Brauer, Mitch Kendra, Michael Antonovich, Donnie Southers making from their work?

Going rate is in the 50-75k region for a full time gig with a media company. Most have some sort of side gig though.

There are some higher paying spots, but that’s usually ad sales (commission based) or like an editor in chief position/some sort of senior position.

I'm sure they do ok....the average experienced dude will probably make around a 100k a year. (That comes from a mate that is in the game)...moto is not main stream.

Thats good info ML, not horrible, as long as expenses are paid for travel. Also depending on where your home base is.

California is weird and has a higher minimum wage for fast food workers (why??)

So that's $20 an hour. At 40 hours a week, working every week that's $41,600.

Being a smart ass? I wanted to know what minimum wage actually is there, might as well post it and save the next person a Google search and some multiplication.

I had an offer for 40,000, but this was circa 2017. Didn't take it. Was with an online-only outlet that was more off-road focused. The offer was contingent on living in SoCal. Glad I didn't do it. Journalism pays terribly in general- if you want to get paid decent money to write, get an MBA from a good program and you can write recommendations based on research and your work to companies paying you (or rather, your employer) like $500 an hour. . . or go to law school. You can always publish research and articles on the side and you write all day in law.

Don't tell the dumb dumbs in Sacramento that. They seems to be under the impression that there are millions and millions of full-time employees making minimum wage, when the actual number is actually a fraction of one percent (.5%).

Politicians don't push narratives based upon facts, they push narratives to manipulate us.

Fast food workers that will be making $ 20 a hour starting in April will not be getting 40 hours.

Most will be capped at 30 hours a week part time.

Probably to keep them as some sort of poverty statistic.

This is true. With how expensive homes are I don't understand how anyone buying a home in Orange County is a decent neighborhood makes less than $300k. I say $300k as a combined household income assuming both people work and they are buying a home not living in one they bought in 2010.

Yep. Went on vacation in OC for a week during Christmas and was shocked at how expensive every dam thing is. From food, to gas, groceries, and especially housing. Even if I was rich, I'd get the hell out of that state. I don't know how every that makes under $120k can survive in CA. $120k atthe minimum. Ideally $150k.
