I'm a fan of both of them, fairly equally. I'd be stoked if either of them won the championship. However, in this case Gravel is correct. Chase let AP go as he should, without anything remotely close to potentially interfering with him. Then Chase looked back and knew Webb was coming. Chase is a good enough rider to know how to let Webb pass without any possibility of interference or contact. Chase could have let off in the corner and rolled until Webb passed and was in front of him. Instead he was on the throttle and accelerating to put himself right next to Webb. None of us were there to see how the lines were formed and only they know how bad it was, but Webb was immediately pissed after the race and I don't see him making shit up.
Regardless, if you are a Sexton fan, now Webb has a get out of jail free pass to return the favor as a payback. Webb raced him clean in SF and let him pass clean, and Webb feels Sexton did not return the favor in San Diego. So whether you like it or not, Webb now has a reason to give it to Sexton when the opportunity presents itself. Sexton is a good dude, and I'm wondering if he had any response to the incident anywhere? Did he take responsibility or apologize?
Well there you have it, Chase admitted fault and so Webb was not whining or bullshitting. The broadcast angle doesn't tell the whole story. Good on Chase.
So…it’s impossible to know for sure if/how much intent there was vs purely accidental. Chase only knows….BUT…
.
say Chase moves out of the way earlier, Coop goes by clean and then passes AP, Chase’s KTM teammate, in the last turn and AP, and KTM, do not win…. I would then say…”why the hell didn’t Chase slow him just a littlle?” RD says, “Chase….you know KTM pays you a lot of money…right? What the hell??…just slow him a little.” AP says, “Chase…we’re good bro.”…because AP is just that nice of a guy …but ….he is thinking, “ Chase…why didn’t you impede him juuusstt a little?”
btw…Coop publicly shit on KTM a lot last year…so I’m thinking they don’t want to gift a win to Coop on a Yamaha. If Coop wants to be a little butt hurt over it…let him. …also…he could have just stayed inside…simple.
…so I don’t even care where the intent vs accidental scale lies….and…I think Chase played that just about perfect. It’s a racing “business”….and KTM just won the race!

Probably not intentional but maybe a bit negligent?
If it was a privateer back marker and not Chase there would be an uproar.
Disagree. If it was some random 3 digit guy people wouldn't think anything of it. Would just be standard perils of having to work through lapped traffic. Most people on here wouldn't even be able to tell you who it was.
Like the guy who interfered with Chase’s run at Jett in the final moto at Ironman last year?
True. Did you see some of the lapped traffic in the 250 main? Brutal. …and hell…Kenny was passing guys on the lead lap while he was a lap down…lol. I got your blue flag right here mfr…. That’s some F1 strategy right there….
LMFAO. I just need to read Vital when a rider makes a mistake for a good laugh.
Chase is on his line. He did nothing wrong. Sounds more like a typical mental game thing from Webb. Webb is always testing and put some kind of pressure on egos opponents. It worked well against Kenny. Webb sharps egos to make them under pressure. Webb is not the faster and he knows it so he play all the cards of the deck. I respect that.
"Not faster"
He was the only one turning lap times fast enough to have ridden to 2nd place and reeling in the leader.
If you dont have the pace,..You can't even maintain, much less challenge.
I mean in general Webb is not the fastest rider but off course he can have a great speed here and there. Raw speed is not his main skill in my opinion.
I don't think its possible to have many race wins and 2 championships without having very good raw speed. I don't really believe that is even a matter of opinion.
In any case,..looking forward to some dry races,..two consecutive "mudders" is more than enough for me.
You gotta love the clowns who just don't get it.....
Mistake or not on Chase's part; is team racing frowned upon these days?
There was no reason for Chase to slow down. By going way outside, and staying outside, he left the main line for Cooper.
As far as I can tell, Cooper started inside then drifted to the outside (on purpose) to block Chase.
It was the wrong move. It's on him.
I saw Eli look back. Cooper wasn't close, so he followed Plessinger, and gained some positions. Nothing wrong with that.
In one race, James Stewart unlapped himself, then started moving through the pack. Nothing wrong with that either.
Chase is too young to remember Art, "if you see a blue flag, there's a race and you're not in it."
Pit Row
Chase had been getting the blue flag for a while.
He's a lapped rider, its his duty to get out of the way and not mess up the leader's race. He could have pulled over on the straight before that corner.
f. Blue Flag
1. Indicates that a Rider is about to be overtaken by faster Riders.
2. When conditions allow, the Rider receiving the blue flag must move out of the fast line. Once out of the fast line, Riders must hold their line, must not ride erratically and must not impede the progress of the faster Riders.
3. Riders disregarding the blue flag may be penalized at the discretion of Race Direction.
I agree. I believe going way wide, staying wide, and holding his line, which he did, leaving the fast line to Cooper, satisfies his responsibility.
There's nothing in the rules that says Chase should have slowed down unless not doing so would've impeded Cooper. Chase wasn't in Cooper's line. It appears that Cooper deviated from the fast line purposely to block Chase. How would Chase know he was going to do that instead of finishing the turn in the fast lane?
The footage that I've seen of it looks like Sexton raced Cooper "off" the corner and came down into Webb's line.
Is this Cooper guy flipping people off the same guy that thanks the lord everytime he gets on the box?
Do you really think God gives a fuck if you cuss?
I’m no fan of Webb, but Chase screwed up and owned it.
Webb’s flipper needs some work, which is surprising considering he’s mates with Filthy and was on the receiving end of one of the best:
It is what it is.
But in the next 14 rounds we better not hear eli or chase complain about lappers.
Well your vision is off
I'm not a Fan of Webb's . But I agree with him on this. Sexton pretty clearly raced him instead of letting up until Webb was clearly by him. Intensional or not, thats what happened. Otherwise why would Sexton say he was sorry?
I am happy that AP won the race. But in this case I have to agree that Sexton cost Webb some time. I think that Chase is a good enough rider to know what he was doing. And while it may have been beneficial for AP , and could make an impact on the title if the points are very close between Webb and Sexton. It was not what a Lapper is expected to do. I think it was as close to the line as Chase could get without risking being penalized for messing with Webb.
Had they not bumped , but Chase came from behind to colid with Webb ( how it looks from the angles I have seen replays). He should have let off and avoided Webb.
Chase had the big picture in mind
...if Coop wins that's 3 more points.
