Looks good but looks like that front fender is gonna hold 20 lbs of mud.

Now there's gonna be 3 red bikes on the track.

It won't hold any mud at all if you're winningWink

It's interesting to look at Lupino'e race bike, in that his side panels have no numbers. They're just sponsor panels. This is one of many things I see the future bringing. With transponders steadily becoming the norm, it's only a matter of time before these smaller side panels lose their numbers altogether and become a graphic design opportunity instead.

Traditionaists will loathe that, of course, but the sponsors will love that.

they already tried that outdoors, side panel numbers were allowed to be insanely small, and logos were more prominent - only stuck for a few years, not sure why

That's how it used to be in MXGP, not sure why they went back to numbers

After the english alloy framed KTM, here's an italian CRF - with a head bigger than a YZF 400...

The lack of imagination of the designers and the resulting lack of personality of these two bike is truly appaling.

These guys would be yawning at John Britten's designs.

Looks badass.  The only thing I don't like is that texture on the aluminum frame.  It won't allow for the factory semi polished look, and it won't cleanup easily.  I prefer this finish on the frame:

Is the head 3d printed????

porkwatts wrote:

Sand casting, cheaper than die for manufacturing and Ducati is really good at it.

That is not a sandcast finish. It is a 3D printed part. Probably direct metal laser sintering. If I had to guees is a supplier part, I doubt Ducati proto shop has their own DMLS.

For production will be high pressure die casting is my guess.

Front fender has a bit of a Winners Take All feel to it but I'm open minded...

That front fender is going to hold like 5 lbs of dirt lol

In mud it will be like pushing a wheel barrel of mud around the track…

I remember those bikes well, especially Everts' Yamaha, because in certain venues cigarette advertisements were banned and his bikes just had red circles where "L&M" would normally be. The difference now would be that, instead of taking something designed as a number plate and force-fitting a new use upon it, this would be done by design. God knows I've got no crystal ball, heck I've been as wrong as rain on more than a few things (Mav has taken the "hammer of actual facts" and gone upside my head with it more than once) - but - I wouldn't be surprised to see that evolution, as it makes good business sense. Is all.

And now - back to the Ducati.

The fact that they got Cairoli out of his KTM contract, and especially that they moved Paolo Ciabatti, Ducati Corse sporting director since 2014, to be General Manager of Ducati Corse Off-Road Division, tells you how serious they are about this.

What is the favorite part of your job? PC: When we win Laughing

When Ducati came into GP in 2003 they podiumed at their very first MotoGP race (in Japan of all places!), it took them 6 tries to win a MotoGP race and Capirossi ended their inaugural season 6th in the championship. Obviously off-road is a different world, and very new to them, but the commitment of the entire company to competition is second to none.

So by 2026 we may have 10 factory brands, each with 2+ riders, that's the whole main event.

Honda

Kawasaki

KTM

Husky

Gas Gas

Yamaha

Suzuki

Beta

Triumph

Ducati

In Europe, you can add Fantic and TM too.

I’d take a bet that Suzuki will not be a part of the list.

You're assuming both 450 HRC riders make the main event.

Based on recent results, I'm not sure I'd wager on that scenario. Grinning
