The guy that was instrumental in designing a bunch of the gear referenced here back in the early 2000’s is Back at THOR, recently.
Moe, he designed the initial Seven lineup. he’s badass and did all that one off for Reed, Twitch, MC and others back in the day. Super talented at what he does, I’m sure we will see some amazing stuff coming out soon.
I just like the jacked maniquins at the Thor display at big amateur races
the retro stuff they put out awhile ago was cool to me. nothing tops reeds stuff. i still have my paisley jersey

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Thor, Fly, Fox all been missing the mark.
Astars and FXR been killing IMO.
Anyone remember the 2009 Thor Gear? The Polka Dot and Stripes? I thought those were cool. Still have a pair of polka.
That aloha gear is hideous.
Am I the only one that wonders how all these gear companies make it? I honestly have always wondered how Thor even stays in business becuase they get great top riders that pull a premium but I never see riders at the tracks in Thor gear. It may be a regional thing but man I feel like the pnw doesn’t have a lot of Thor gear users
Thor needs to release this kit in their Prime line. Best looking set I’ve seen in years from them.
I loved the 2021 Prime Lineup from Thor. I crashed and crashed in that stuff and it still looks good. 2022 and on has been meh.
Its owned by a big parts distributor as a loss leader. It doesn't make money - it fills shelves at dealerships. Like some other shit brands I wont name here.
Its a little bit sad that such a big unprogressive mx brand is named after Torsten Hallman (Original Racewear [T.H.O.R]). Speaking of whom - he is still alive 84 year old Swedish guy
I feel like they went 2-3 years with sort of the same style of having blue sleeves lol
this gear was cool but their was a mint or teal colour around this era that was my all time fave, I can’t find a picture online.
Its their designers obviously. Who are they? Are they actual artists or just someone who can do computer designs? I agree Thors gear is boring, but so is fox. Foxs new written logo is the ugliest ever. The boxy lines. And foxs designs are so lame.
I used to love Fro's gear when I was a kid...
Pit Row
This is the shiznit. I had the black and white with baby blue. It was my favorite gear of all time.
I still like Fox but it fits me so poorly. It's beyond baggy on my ass. Granted I have no ass whatsoever but Fox fits the worst. Definitely on boars with Astars and FXR killing it. I'm going to get some this summer. Astars has come a long way since the hideous gear Alessi wore
Agree on others comments regarding Astars and FXR....they're killing it at the moment. Just picked up my first ever Astars and FXR kits. I know it's very subjective to body size/shape, etc, but the Astars are the most comfortable and best fitting gear I've ever owned. I like the fit and look of the FXR gear as well. Think it's the best looking gear on the market. However, there's VERY little room in the knee area for guards or pads. I wear the TP 199 knee guards and it's an extremely tight fit. Doesn't seem to be too noticeable when riding though.
I loved my General Lee gear
Tbh none of the gears these days are for me. There was a time 10-15 years ago, I didnt know which one to choose, they all looked nice and appealing. But Im not sure if this is really the case, or just the "back in the day" feeling compared to today. I wonder how the younger generation feels about todays gear.
Notice how a lot of you associate good looking gear with absolute legends like chad reed. Pure objectivly it shouldnt matter who it wore, but it just does. So I think its hard to judge, what really is good looking and what is a pure nostalgic feeling.
This era was when they were at their peak imo.
All brands have off years. Gear is totally subjective. 04- 08 thor gear was the peak, but in recent years they have adopted the clean minimalist look, which some people (me) like way more than the hectic explosion of colors and designs (that God awful yellow and purple tld polka dot gear anyone??).
To each their own. I don't love the new alpinestars gear, and if they didn't dominate in being the gear that all the top racers wear, I think a lot of people wouldn't be so hyped on it. Reed and his iconic thor gear is iconic because it was Chad Reed on a yami with some cool designs. He was at or near the top of the heap and people want a piece of it. AStars basically owns all the fast 450 riders, and I honestly find it extremely boring.
I do think that there is a huge missed opportunity with 450 class riders especially in outdoors to run a different colour with moto 1 and 2. It was always so cool to see stew and rc wearing different kits in moto 1 vs moto2, and it was much better at showcasing the full compliment of a companies product.
I loved the Volcom collabs they used to do, this one especially
Their Hallman line is a breathe of fresh air when it comes to all of the other godawful shit they put out..
Agree 100%. The Hallman stuff is great. Clean, simple, just enough splash and looks like gear that an actual racer would wear. And I bet that any one that wears the Hallman line , has never used the term "kit" or "colorway" to describe their gear......just sayin
