Nobody was blizting the whoops. At those speeds, I can't see it being a danger. Hell, people were wadded up everywhere on the track.
I suspect Honda sales have tripled.
No blitzing but you still have to commit. If you enter and have to change lines suddenly bad juju. @ pro speed it's a whole other ball game than us mortals.
It is the responsibility of the rider re-entering the track to do so in a safe manner. If that means he has to wait for someone to go by then he has to wait. Then he safely re-enters. It’s pretty simple. If a rider re-enters in a manner that causes a conflict/crash then he should be penalized. It’s seems like some are more concerned about the rider that left the track? Don’t want to wait to safely re-enter?…don’t go off the track.. and yes…I know the rider doesn’t mean to much of the time but that doesn’t change the fact he is responsible to safely re-enter.

When was the last time you watched a pro race and the rider sits in one place waiting to enter unless there is no other option.
C'Mon Man!
Pretty much every race. For example…Often guys get pushed wide in the first turn and keep checking over their shoulder for a gap to safely re-enter. Happens all of the time. They may not come to a stop, although once in a while they do, but they wait for some gap to re-enter….often loosing places waiting for the gap. Do you even watch races?
C’Mon Man!
I get your logic, and have often thought the same, but if the AMA officiated using that, then nearly every rider that went off track last weekend, and that’s most of them, would be penalised. See the issue there.
As for: “That or you are trying to convince us that Hunter rolled by the whoops sooooo slow that he lost 9 seconds and 2 positions….lol.”….no I’m not trying to convince you of that. I’m saying he crashed and lost time and positions, so it doesn’t deserve penalty unless he enters in an unsafe manner, that is all.
Ha thanks for your constructive criticism, it’s a great contribution to the conversation.
CPR you need to allow the haters to vent the steam.
Until they become harsher on their penalties, people will continue to cut the track. The risk reward is well worth it.
A lot of riders went down but not off the track….of the ones going off track we have talked about for the most part. Do you have another example? Dylan went off with a little gap on Hunter and re-entered with less of a gap.
Ha yeah, but I thought they would have got it all out by now. It runs deep!
For real?!
Yes for real…it’s like screaming systemic racism with no specific examples of racism. Watch the race and give me some actual examples.
Enter 2017 Savatgy...
😂 I apologise, I didn’t realise your Labrador couldn’t communicate every time someone went off the track.
the second time, hunter accelerated off track. this warrants a penalty by operation of law.
That's not what it says at all. It says IF position(s) are gained then the MINIMUM penalty is pos gained plus one. If NO positions are gained minimum penalty is one position.
So based on what the rule says there is discretion for penalizing beyond the minimum and you can't draw any conclusions about the positions gained or not based solely on the penalty that was given.
Pit Row
How is it hating when pretty much everyone agrees that everyone that received an infraction deserved it? The majority also believe Hunter deserved one.
Hunter flat out cheated.... no doubt scared of ending up in the LCQ and missing another main.
Yea…no specific examples. I thought so. I’ve rewatched the race. You are wrong. It the 450 main the ONLY other rider I saw go off track was Anderson when he was getting lapped by Tomac. He waited until Eli was well past him and then re-entered the track. So…your comment is just wrong. Prove it…or make another lame comment dodging your inability to prove your wrong statement. I’ll wait….
Wait, you re-watched the entire race from all angles or just what the camera was focused on. If you did, I believe what you say,,, but I find it hard to believe that the only people that went off the track were JA21, HL96, JB51 and VF125.
Obviously I only had what the camera showed…but you can see a broad view of the track much of the time. A lot of riders went down but the comment that “nearly every rider” went off track is just wrong.
Hunta wasn’t feeling the whoops so he made a positive out of a negative. I recon a good +6 seconds.
Mate you are virtually the Grand Poobah of the Hunter hate club so don't try to weave logic through those hate colored glasses.
"Hunter cheated because he was scared of the LCQ"...just nonsense.
If he cut the track and gained an advantage then yes he should have received a penalty. I guess the AMA saw it more objectively than some people.
Whatever the fact shouldn't you be over the moon that he's had 2 bad results in a row? I bet you were doing air high fives and screaming out "FUCK YEAH !!!!!" when he went down at A1.
I was thinking I could do well in a main if I could just get a decent start into the first turn. Then just make a detour and ride my laps on the side of the track without gaining any positions. Finish the main without dealing with the obstacles....the new era way of safely and easily maintaining your position to the checkered flag.
Webb tried that when he hurt his hand - didnt go over well
Reading that....all I see is:
I'm just laughing at the timing of this penalty report. How can you let guys race the main (and destroy their bike) and later DQ, saying they were not eligible to make the main? Why even send AMA to the race if this can't be done in real time?
Sorry I am confused. This report tells you who got a penalty on the night and what for.
Nate lost his fastest qualifying lap, so his second lap is what determined his heat race not his fastest lap.
Vince finished 9th in the heat and then lost positions due to his penalty which forced him to have to race the lcq and Dean got the final transfer position from the heat
Barcia finished 2nd in the lcq and then copped a penalty which relegated him to 4th and still transferring to the main.
Where did someone race the main and get disqualified because of their penalty from either the heat or lcq?
I was under the assumption these penalties were assessed after the racing, it sounds like I was wrong. Thanks for clarifying.
