I think it's awesome. I mean, not every weekend but it certainly showcases a different, and fully valid, skillset. I find it amazing those guys can get around that fast in that slop. Moto ain't golf.

The only problem here is the water filled start line that make 95% of the guys blind going in to the first turn.

other than that, man up and race. It’s just a matter of guys being spoiled and don’t train in theese conditions normaly.

If you want to do better in a mudder, you know what you need to do, and it’s not dangerous.

but is it exciting racing to watch? No…

Some real fair weather Nancyboys here...sometimes there is mud, sometimes there isn't.

Probably the same guys that load up when ruts and braking bumps start to develop

I did not enjoy watching this mud race but it is the way it goes....some dudes got their best results ever....they are stoked.

15 more rounds left....mostly dry I'd guess.

SX is not normal racing. They’ve had to move all the dirt into the stadium, build the track, then afterwards they have to clean up and move it all out again. The parking and pits setup at SF has been a logistical nightmare, they had to organise all of that, shuttles from the parking etc. Sold thousands of tickets that they would then have to potentially refund. In the end, the race ran fine.

I think having the second race of the season be a mud race is great. Everyone leaves the opening round with questions, you’re waiting for another race to validate what you saw at A1. None of those questions got answered tonight, the questions and early season intrigue rolls on for another week

I helped with an SX mud race clean up once and it was absolutely dreadful. 48 straight hours of backbreaking labor. Rained the entire time and I was soaked to the bone by the end of it. People really do not understand the logistics involved and the time crunches they are under. Truly masters of their craft and I have never worked with a more passionate group of people. How they can pull this off week in and week out is incredible and they deserve all of the praise.

Its seriously some of the most boring shit to watch. I ended up drifting off scrolling IG during most of the racing. Seen some pretty large breasts in my feed.

The crash down the start straight was hilarious. I think there was like 7 or 8 guys down because it was pure slop that just sunk the bike.

Kudos to the racers because that looked like hell on the track, and an even bigger kudos to clean up crew. But that's a part of moto.

Mud was too muddy. I bet that OP's tongue hurts when he drinks water right out of pressure washer's nozzle too...

Mud races are great. Was at met life last year and that was worse then tonight. Personally i like the odd ball mud race. Keeps things interesting.

Just put it in domes?

I got up at 02h45 to watch live....I was falling asleep but somehow pulled through that shit show...it really sucked. Glad it's over and San Diego will make up for it. Always good racing there.

That wasn’t racing it was survival with equal parts talent, endurance, equipment care and luck. And it shook some things up. One side benefit at least now we don’t have to hear about a possible perfect season for Jett anymore.

Do you think at a training facility any1 has ever said. We are building a new track next week. Let's flood this 1 today to practice a mud sx?

Breaking news! Dirt bikes race in dirt. Also, water is wet.

If you don't enjoy mudders watch MotoGP.

Yeah lets make a sloppy track so we have to rebuild the bikes and track after every test day lol.

It’s just a bike race.
Wet. Dry. Sand. Hardpack. Big field. Small field. Day. Night. Whatever.

it’s always just a bike race. And we love it.
(well us bike racing fans do..)

Do u have issues reading? I said if they are building a new track the next week. So the current layout is ready to be ripped down and a new design built. So it wouldn't be rebuilding the track every day. It would be like 1 time a year when they are due to change it up anyway.

And what's rebuilding a bike to these factory guys? They prob do 90% of the stuff regularly anyway like how often would they be changing the chain, sprocket, wheel bearings, linkage bearings, clutch , brake pads etc.

Then some guys/teams just have to accept why their results suck during some conditions.

but in one way i guess they are. I bet that Honda can live with one bad result knowing that 99% of the races are helt at a dry track where their rider will make up for it.

Obviously the races in better weather are preferred by a wide margin, but I can't and won't complain...

It was interesting at the very least. Everyone had to really work for it and it was cool to see guys like McElrath, Prado, Nicoletti, Marchbanks, Plessinger, whoever, have good heat races or better positions in the main. Also good to see Sexton, Tomac and Roczen's experience show through.

End of the day, they all race the same track.

Extended forecast for next weekend, the weathermen are usually a little off on the timing, we shall see 😂

They truly do suck to watch and I’m not a fan. Nothing else you can do though. They shouldn’t reschedule or anything. Onto the next.

Mud races are needed every once in awhile to shake things up. Hopefully it knocked Jett’s confidence down a little. If it wasn’t for the mud. We were in for another Jett clinic.

So I’m guessing that you were ok with Webbs 250 SX championship clincher in the Vegas slop fest, right?

I don’t get this kind of comment. This event has likely been in planning and production for at least a year. Thousands of tickets sold. People traveling to the race. All the teams work and coordination to make it happen and you just want to cancel it?

I don't wanna speak for him, but he is probably campaigning for venues with a roof on them for Supercross.  Except Daytona of course.

I could support that.

How many domes are there on the West Coast that are accessible for SX?

Webb 18 points down. Pretty much out of the championship hunt after race 2 (well, unless another mudder can flip it back). Same with Shimoda, Vohland, Beumer.

I agree it should be reduced points or something when conditions is like this. It's sucks for the season to have top riders ruled out this early based on track conditions for one race.

Riding in mudd have to much external factors involved that riders cant affect.

Curious the height of the ridets and how that played out in the results, wpild think the shorter guys would really struggle, on average.
